  • @hissylp julian bream play this??where??

  • Bravooo!!!!!!!

  • Why on earth would someone cough in the middle of such an incredible performance. This is an amazing performance , second only to the maestro himself Juilan Bream . Mind blowing.

  • wonderfulllllllll.........

  • Excelente

  • The best performance! What a speed!

  • Blown away...:-)

  • I think the biggest challenge as a guitarrist (at least for me) is to overcome the coughing.

  • @Evraem Just pretend that whoever coughed was actually a death metal vocalist who accidentally let out a feeling-filled roar caused by how freaking fantastic this performance was. Hopefully that said made your challenge easier to overcome.

  • very nice one. Jerome, check my version, especially because of the fingerings for the left hand:P

  • @petersgsicht I did, its good overall but lacked articulations and dynamics, the sound was a bit metallic maybe because of the guitar

  • One of the best renditions on youtube....although I found the bass notes in the beginning a bit short and somewhat weak...kind of cut the life of the piece down...could be due to lack of sound enhancement though. But great job...one of my favorite pieces.

  • @TheRealrocker74 - FYI that is not rest stroke. I was at a master class with Jerome last year and I asked him how he plays those scales, he plays them using tremolo all the way through - ami, ami, ami etc.

  • Man, this guy is brilliant!

  • A very cool piece, I hadn't heard it before. A captivating performance as well.

  • Jerome Ducharme.... You're amazing !

  • Absolutely astonishing!! One of my favourite classical pieces played with such precision and accuracy

  • les 10 qui ont voté contre allez vous acheter une paire d'oreilles et un cerveau, voir même deux.

  • 1:55 2:10

    wow!

  • REST STROKE AT 1:56 HOLY SHIT

  • very clean and sharp as this piece should be! best on the net.

  • when did allen become a classical guitarist?

  • This guy is just too good.

  • Wow !!!

    Bravo Jerome!!!

  • I love the echo effect in this piece...

  • @Hektor88 That's natural echo from the concert hall. It's fantastic in comparison to shit done in studio.

  • this is just a fantastic piece of music. and its awesome that he brings it to life so well.

  • mtl represent

  • Like all Classical music, this piece strips away all the BS found in other music and ask the musician to bare their souls and shoot for greatness. Every classic musician should do the same and not let any percieved barrier keep them from trying. Performances like this only serve to encourage me to work harder. Its, of course, the journey that makes it all worthwhile.

  • Rodrigo was a genius. Ducharme is a wonderful musician.

  • This has got to be one of the hardest pieces in the repertoire for solo guitar. Even Ducharme, who is amazing, has more than a couple obvious flubs. Great performance though without a doubt.

  • briljante performance

  • la technique maitriser,,,et l AME qui jaillit ,,, bravo

  • When I get a wild hair and feel rambunctious I think I can play this way and then the beer wears off. LOL. I wish I were good enough to compete in the GFA.

  • I have not heard this played better! Amazing

  • Hell, I'm playing this piece for my concert examination, but this interpretation is just mindblasting...

I had problems closing my mouth after listening to it.

Dare to believe my profs could even play it better.

    Greetings from Germany!

  • @Xzero100 Well How did your performance go?

  • Pretty damn good.

  • Last night I saw Ricardo Gallen play the three Spanish Pieces, was just phenomenal. So incredibly detailed musically, technique was just amazing, of course. His Zapateado is the best I've heard. Had such a unique approach music in general.

  • @campb91 Cool, where did you see him? I'll be watching him this coming Thursday in Melba Hall at Melbourne University....Rodrigo was listed on his program, so after reading your comment, I guess he will be playing those pieces!! I can't wait! I love Zapateado!

  • @macmanue Hey, I saw him in Llewellyn hall in the ANU school of music.

  • all of you should to listen zapateado played by PACO DE LUCIA!!!!!

  • @MrTxutxi Paco is great, of course, but his Zapateado has nothing to do with this piece. It is an entirely different tune, but thanks for the suggestion.

  • Faster than Barrueco...

  • How old was he when he won the GFA?

  • How very strange... I could swear my jaw was in place before I've listened to this... Incredible!

  • That's a show stopping piece right there.

  • 140 bpm wow, how in the world he can he do that???

  • one word : WOW!

  • No comment....excellent!

  • todo suena muy claro y preciso!!!!!!!! felicidades!!!!

  • i dropped my jaw somewhere and I can't find it, this was really good. Now I'm going to practice even more.

  • BEST ON YOUTUBE..... :))))))))

  • Really nice!!

  • Really Nice performance

  • Really nice performance ... really ... awesome

  • What a monster....5*****

  • regio...

    muy bien maestro

  • Good stuff.

  • 32 or 16th notes, when Jerome goes fast in this piece.

  • 16th notes, 6/8 time, 120 or so to the dotted quarter.

  • So is the tempo around allegro?

  • The tempo is around 120 BPM. You can call that whatever you like.

  • its 140 ;)

  • @kxnino He plays it at 140, but in the score it's marked as 120.

  • @what567 yes i know but it sounds better at 140 ;)

  • Awesome performing, really good, 5*

  • and some bitches with cough as always. Go to doctor before concert omg

  • @GeeZeRWoD The legendary Segovia would have lozenges handed out to the audience and would wait indefinitely for the room to be utterly silent before starting any performance.

  • @GeeZeRWoD wow youre truly an ass

  • Very good performance!!!

    Congraulations.

    Kelvin Borrero

  • he plays really good.

  • could someone tell me what brand of guitar is it used?, too, that brand of strings, to find something similar but cheaper.

  • this man makes me dont want to play this piece anymore - :(

  • good, fuck u

  • It doesn't get any better than this! Watch this with the sound turned off. You can see the inner rhythm of the piece in his left hand alone - just amazing (as are the Fandango and Passacaglia).

  • I'm imaging him like as spanish horse rider what really is zapateado-dance that copy horse riding :))

  • AWESOME

  • best version of zapateado on youtube so far this guy kicks ass

  • Comment removed

  • nice. very nice.

  • This is what it means to transcend the music.

Especially around 0:48 when he comes back down straight into madness. I haven't found a version around here that even begins to capture that moment. It's like a ton of bricks right in the gut and he nailed it.

    Bravo!

  • make that 0:42 to actually hear it

  • makes it sound so easy! 5*

  • we have the same name and share the same passion

  • the best version of zapateado so far, i really liked it, this guy got some skills

  • maestro!!!!

  • 0:38

  • This is the BEST version i ever heard of this piece!!!

  • wow. and what an ending!

  • this guy is just great! Astounding technique and musicality, the best from Zapateado by far on youtube!

  • you are right. pepe's does not sound as crisp as this version. could be the guitar

  • yes he choked them but thats a hell of a piece, couldnt blame him 99 % efective, great interpretation, my personal youtube favorite

  • Who cares?

  • This guy has to be one of the most articulate players of all time, he plays the scales in less than 2 seconds each!!! 1 mississippi...2 mississippi whoa, whoops, there goes two of the hardest scales in the guitar repertoire- perfectly- haha

  • Amazingly clean. If I tried to do anything remotely close to half that speed there would be muted notes and slurs everywhere.

  • Fantastic composition. Fantastic performance.

  • Very good!

  • Ahhhhhhh at 1:57!

  • Superb tonal control and attack!

    A Maestro!

  • One of the best I have ever heard. Better than John Williams maybe.

  • Definitely!

  • no other like this, not even me!!

  • yes very very good - much power in it!

    adorable!

  • That was godly. This guy is a monster!

  • good job!! congrats!

  • 5/5 for the music

    5/5 for his technic

and 5/5 for his face expressions (it looks like hes talking to the guitar)

  • Absolutely amazing, the expression in his playing is phenomenal

  • Sin uda Jerome Ducharme toca muy bien!

No obstante falta aquella transmición de la obra al público. La partitura no es más que el esqueleto al que uno le da vida.

  • Bravo Jerome, what a wonderful performance!

  • Jerome is the best!!

  • for the sake of the sound! 5/5

  • Dios!!!! genial, ese sentimiento de sentir los dedos estirados, la velocidad, el sonido.

    ADORO LA GUITARRAAAAAA!!!!! ^_^

  • this is the most wonderful interpretation of this piece that i've seen in youtube, it's almost impossible to find another version better that this one. But the best verion of this piece that i've heard it's a recording of a brazilian guitarrist called marcelo kayath

  • You should check out Jerome's own studio recording of this on his CD!!!

  • @RenatoAndrescs I've heard 20 years ago one record from Kaare Norge, and since I never heard better than him... unfortunately where could we find this record ?... I don't know

  • What the heck do you call that,,thats no Poison,,or Winger,, my ears are still bleeding......just kidding, INCREDIBLE! BRAVO!

  • Jerome is the best

  • This video is a good lesson for all classical guitarists, amateurs and professionals, on how to play musically while strictly respecting the rythm.

  • passion, poetry,personality, magnificent

  • best classical piece ive seen.

  • so clean, amazing control

  • my god jerome :) 1000000000000 points :)

  • And mine!

  • 5+1*:)

  • very nice

  • Beautiful performance! Congratulations.

  • Bravissimo Jerome!! 5*****

  • Thank you for this playing, It help me for play this pieze, and it help alot, thank you jerome!

  • excellent :)

  • 100% pure certified BADASS!! i love it.

  • Awesome

  • Beautifully played! Ridiculous question I'm sure, but is this something that can be learned with tabs? I'd like my son who plays guitar to broaden his horizons and like this song or maybe Minor Swing by Django Reinhardt

  • why not just teach him to read music? it isnt that hard. Im sure itd be ridiculously difficult to find tabs for this. Teaching him to read music would also broaden his horizens like crazy

  • There is a powertab of this out there (I have it) but as merciless said I would try to promote site reading as opposed to tabs. If you want him to broaden his horizons get him on the right track by learning to site read music not tablature. Tabs lack the expression, and the details that are required to play a piece of this difficulty ie; right and left hand fingerings. Keep in mind this is a very high level (virtuoso)piece of music to play.

  • Theoretically it may be possible to learn this by tabs. As a practical matter, not possible. This is a fantastically difficult piece to play - even just to read, however slowly. Most students need a good five years of study before they even approach this. If you, or anyone, is playing the guitar and cannot read music, you're not a classical guitarist, and to play this, you have to be. Ducharme makes it look easy: that alone makes him one of the world's best.

  • what tone!!!!!beautiful....moving....I cant believe Ive never seen this man play before.

  • 5 stars !!!

  • Amazing !

  • awesome!!!!

  • oh man, those scales. . .

  • Amazing!

  • Great Interpretator. 99.3 point out of 100

  • esattement, 99.3

  • i just started this piece. i dont think i'll compete with this for a few years. wow...

  • Excellent

  • At least a prize winner who doesn't only think to run as fast as he can, but let's music's breath come out.

    I love it! Bravo!

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • a la altura de los mejores, felicidades!!!!!!

  • You inspired me and now I'll play this piece and make a video response to it! LOL good playing. You deserved to win the one of the most chalenging competitions on the world!

  • Wow! No wonder he won the competition. Bravo!
