Hip Hop is not dead, it´s just difficult to find real artists, with bitch ass rappers like Soldja Boy getting contracts. Hip Hop is so mainstream today, that anybody can get a contract. Back in the day, you actually had to be good. The rappers, the songs and even the videos were good back in the day. Today, you just have to scream five words, use a vocoder and show some tittays in your video. Back in the day, even the videos were like little short films always with a message.
@vyrgo84 --Since when do Hiphoppas care what the media portrays?? the urban music industry's interpretation of Hip Hop is whats seen on T.V. (mostly) and on radio (mostly). Her Infinite Presence Helps Oppressed People Lives!
yea yall this brings back so much memmories this is hitmasterfsi yall i was 13 years old dick came to newyork and asked us to be in the movie iam in about 5 parts peace
One of the most foolish expression still currently used is the use of the term, 'white'. This is a misleading and false word. There is no such pigment in a human being. Description of a person should be broken down to actuality, for instance, Italian, Irish, German, Greek, Jewish, Russian, etc. This is very foolish to use that term, 'white'. It hides the identity and lineage. It's true. Newspaper writers are good at keeping this up. Fuck them.
well said brother. hip hop music today is bullshit. rap was at its best from 1980 to 1989 also early 1990s up to 1995 was ok. afrika bambatta, sugar hill grandmaster flash, public enemy and de la soul were the kings. respect to da birth place. bronx ny.
I've got this vid and show it to every newbie who wants to know what hiphops about, but sadly, in general terms you're right, it seems learning about the culture isn't really a part of it now but for my generation it was 'everything'
I dunno about dvd but maybe search amazon or some where like that for the video, it was a documentary by Alan Yentob, and came out on Channel5 videos, it was also part of a uk art series called 'Arena' so it might've been commissioned by them, not sure, i taped mine off the telly
