@haugwi01 Bill, we all know the Nordic Choir, the Concordia Choir, and the St. Olaf choir are incredible, and that's exactly why you drove all the way from decorah to hear the Concordia Choir in Madison. No need to be smug.
I love this piece dearly. My high school concert choir is singing it as a contest piece this year. The only problem I have with this interpretation is that the girls, both the altos and sopranos, from 2:40 to about 3:23, they just sound way too rushed and hurried. It doesn't fit in with the slow, deep, romantic tone of the song. But other than that, this choir sounds WONDERFUL. I'm a little jealous:)
I know one of the sopranos... went to high school with her, and we all sang this when we were sophomores. it was one of my favorite pieces to sing. very beautiful.
This is excellent (I feel like I can hear the overtones even through computer speakers), and I'd expect nothing less from Dr. Clausen. I have to confess that after about 4 listenings, though, the incorrect pronunciation of "gesto" as "yehsto" does detract from it for me.
Bravo Concordia! Kudos from a Nebraska Wesleyan Choir member studying under Dr. Wyman. It's refreshing to see tempi and articulation dictated from the poetry. I respect Dr. Clausen's interpretation greatly. Learn all you can from him. I've heard nothing but spectacular things from several musician friends about the rich choral tradition at Concordia. This recording confirmed everything I have heard. Once again, Bravo.
The objective of this channel it to offer quality HD videos of Choral experiences I have encountered and am involved with. The experiences I have enjoyed in my life as a singer, musician, conductor, composer and arranger have included many from the Lutheran College tradition; Christiansen, Hanson, Noble, Erickson, Warland... I applaud the current "stewards" of this tradition: Armstrong, Arnold, Aune, Clausen, Hendrickson, Johnson... and count many of them as my friends and acquaintances.
I love the way this choir continues to perform in the disciplined manner of the St Olaf Choir tradition. It's a pleasure to watch this choir, without a lot of excessive movement.
I love the Concordia Choir! This is a pretty good performance, but there were some parts where i heard indivdual voices sticking out... I cannot wait until this spring when Nordic Choir of Luther College performs this songs.
the interpretation of the director is amazing. the pause right before "muero" at 4:52 was chill-enducing. i really felt like you all knew exactly what you were saying...
I love your guys' choir, you have so many wonderful recordings here, but in this particular one, your sopranos are a little annoying in some spots. I'm a soprano, so I'm bashing on my own section. we sang this in our chamber choir the fall 09
This was well done. Maybe a little more from the bass section but overall not too shabby. I sang this a couple of years back when my high school went on a tour to New York. We sang in the riverside church. The acoustics were absolutely breathtaking...Ahh the memories
*goosebumps.*

I adore this song. Alto's sound so beautiful on their entrance in the very beginning of the song. Soprano's have such a pure piercing tone. Lovely.
Overall beautiful sound. Very Expressive.

I would like to personally commend you on your response. Extremely professional and not at all condescending to the "heckler."
Well done, and FANTASTIC videos.
