  • wonderful looking guitar

  • what is bear claw spruce ,is it sitka with a natural grain configuration,or is it an eastern american type spruce. i dont think it is realy that pretty, but i am realy impressed with its sonics and projection with a walnut combination, so what is it?

  • @snapperjohn1000 Bear claw is patterns in the spruce top and can be found in any species of spruce. To some it looks like a bear has sharpened its claws in the wood. The primary type of "bear claw" is hazelficte, naturally occurring quilting or wrinkles. Dana Bourgeois feels a lot of it can denote a very stiff i.e. good sounding top. Others think it makes no difference. Many like the looks because it makes each guitar unique. Go to Google Images and look up hazelficte. Good examples there.

  • Very ... very nice.

  • beautiful music. now i have rethink my decision to buy something unmartin.

  • I just love Martin guitars! I've had a DM for ten years now. It sounds better with time! Spruce top, mahogany sides & back, and I think the neck and head stock is mahogany too. Rosewood fretboard. They really put out some amazing tone! Thanks for the vid. Nice playing! Nice guitar too!

  • what a beauty thx for posting this

  • And Martin traditionally used local spruce, so it was from the Poconos, also part of Appalachia

  • Thanks. After reading my post I realized it read somewhat condescending,Just want to assure you that I'm genuinely curios.

  • Would'nt "Adirondack spruce" be from the Adirondack Mountains?

  • It is the common name of the species, but it is found from Northern Ontario to Tennessee and the carolinas. And the Adirondacks are part of the Appalachian mountains.

  • Madagascar has a real distinct sound. I don't think I've heard anything quite like it. Really indescribable.

  • gibson acoustics suck arse!

  • This had my rapt attention all the way through. Nice playing.

  • Actually it has virtually no run out.

Unless you mean the other one, which has the highest grade Adirondack top you can get. What you are seeing is not runout; the guitar looks that way in any light from any angle. The center seam area has very tight grain, the edges less so.

And, well, I would buy a Gibson. But I prefer my guitars to have something called TONE. ;o)

  • your axes are really awesome, i wish i had one like those.. cheers from the philippines!!!

  • That must be why you apply so much reverb on the recording - because of all that TONE.

  • Well actually there is no reverb on the recording at all. So thanks for the compliment on the tone.

With guitars like these I never need to add any effects whatsoever.

What you are hearing is the result of four mics, two large diaphragm mics in the back, about six feet away and about six feet apart and then two small diaphragm mics up close.

This helps pick up the natural resonance of the guitar very well as the back mics pick are a fraction of a second behind the front mics.

  • Dang Todd, that is just lovely.

    DD

  • lovely playing and sound - well done!

  • They got no pickguards on them man...won't have your nice finish long

  • who says he is a flat picker?

  • most everyone strums their guitar at one time or another.

  • "SCHWING!!!" -- Wayne & Garth

    :)

  • Beeeeautiful instrument! Put me in your will!

  • Nice sound...

  • i love it...mmm Martin
