Okay, I'm probably the only one, but I still prefer the recording that "Art Deco" did on LP several years before the Hunks recorded their own. Longtime fans would know who Art Deco really was. He did two albums of Hal Roach music and I think they are gems.
I am so amazed at the dedication required to recreate the orchestrations for these compositions BY EAR. At least, that is the story I've read: that the original sheet music was lost, and had to be recreated for the Beau Hunks by dint of listening to the movie soundtracks over and over to transcribe the music. Good on you, Beaux. These recordings are the music of my childhood and I love them.
@GuinnevereB Wow that is great that they did that, I love this music but only found out today that someone re did the songs, thanks for that story, makes you appreciate them even more.
