The tenor sang very well, I think. Candide is really a low role for tenor, so it does not surprise me of some of the comments I have read here, but still, BRAVO CANDIDE, BRAVO!!!
This isn't bad. Couple of funky high notes by Cunegonde, and Candide has a bit of Kermit the frog action going on at the beginning. It's still pretty good though.
The tenor has a few A's to hit at the end; I believe that's as high as it goes. When he's singing alone at the beginning, he goes up to an E I think.
Such a great piece. I like Paul Groves doing this. I have the DVD of him and Kristen Chinoweth as Cunegonde. I think this tenor's voice is almost to heavy.
Oh yeah, what a performance...I only wish it was on a dvd...I want to know more about the talented people who put this together...and this song...these two gifted singers...what a contribution they make to anyone who happens by...bravo indeed!
thge tenor sung from his throat to try and get the "modern tenor" sound, but its wayyyy too throaty, and its a bad sound that teachers think people like... everyone else had a few problems here and there, but it wasnt TOO bad, of course some of the sopranos couldnt get those high c's at all.
Stunning...Mastro Berstein is grinning wildly at this...just beautiful.

It's an A flat.
Though the role on Candide in the operetta reaches a high C.

This is my facourite version of this song on YouTube at the moment. Unfussy, beautifully sung and at a DECENT tempo!
Lovely!
