It's probably going to make a big mess that way, so I think compensation is the best answer. Also, the fact that refugees went from 725k to 5 million makes the Right of Return much harder.

It makes more sense to have a peace treaty, which in part will compensate every refugee who fled. Israel can't promise the right of return for the Palestinians because maybe the Jews who fled do not want to return. It's probably going to make a big mess that way, so I think compensation is the best answer. Also, the fact that refugees went from 725k to 5 million makes the Right of Return much harder.
I'll explain what I know of Israel controlling more land prior to 1948 in the next comment
