now that you changed the exhaust, revving up sounds almost like how my 1.4 16 valve, 74KW sounds when I rev it up and hear it with the windows rolled up. I prefer the old layout. To me, it looked a bit better.
@iqdodge - indeed it is, a lousy four cylinder straw-cutter. A diesel starts to generate decent sound from 5 cylinders up. That's why I said you've had to smoke some serious $#!+ if you found that noise sweet... ;)P
@spavatch In all fairness, I find the sound as pleasant, and I'm not under the influence of anything. I've heard so many cars with petrol engines, that to hear one that runs on diesel helps to break the monotony, especially if it's an everyday family car.
people on this are so hilarious haha :L i think a type r has 160lb/ft torque what has a remapped fabia got? probly twice that haha civic type rs r crap compared to diesels
This surprised me. I expected it to sound like crap cos of the diesel. But it sounded good. Had a nice grumble to it and you can still hear the turbo nicely.
congrats, still wouldnt pwn a well driven Type R. Keep up on a straight, yes. Keep on corners, no. Balls not included. Its cute how remapped PD130's think they are quick, I know I used to think so too :)
try telling them that! When I was running 160-170bhp in my diesel, I did run a 14.7 down at Santa Pod mind, dont see many standard Type R's doing that.
@sonicvrs early vrs' made 140bhp, later ones made around the 150 mark standard, mines made 148. Remapped mines kicked out 180 with 300lbs/ft so no it wont keep up with a type r ek9, the vrs will spank it
@magnersnice pish = fact im sorry to say. you are one of many to be delusional and think that the fabia (being a relativeky quick shopping car) with a £400 remap can out compete a faster car... I'll be banging my head against the wall, but i'll try to get over the facts:
Torque is impressive in a diesel but it is all to soon over, remember what BHP actually is... There is no way a fabia with just a map is even below 7.5 sec, let alone the type r crushing sub 7 you are talking about...
@sonicvrs I think your the one that needs to learn the difference between turning force and power. Based on the fact bhp is derived from torque and revs and the fact a tdi is low reving BHP means fuck all and you can't compare a 180bhp car against a 200bhp on BHP alone. In a straight line a maped vrs will take on a standard type r no bother. where did i mention sub 7? 1st and 2nd gear in a tdi prevents a good 0-60. typical forum fanboy
Just a map on my 55plate Fabia, killed a 54plate type r civic consistently

@FowVayJetta - Fair enough :) I may disagree but still I understand your point.

It was done at doncaster pipes. Dont know on the bhp increase etc as i had a load of mods done then a remap.

where you get the custom exhaust? how much torque and bhp did it add? im thinking of getting one but not sure what the best exhaust to get is

no, a remapped PD130 = ~160bhp realistically. How on this fine earth could that keep up with a 200bhp race inspired rev happy type R?

@magnersnice just no... Insurances would be invalid accross the country.
Get a good rolling road and you will see. That same RR that gave your car ~180 will give other cars the same 20% increase...
Is no-one on here talking any sense? or are all vrs labelled cars (mine included) crushes of all comers?
sonicvrs 1 year ago
@sonicvrs I have been to several RR days used by vag and non vag tuners and have seen little variation (1.3% relative standard deviation).

good luck with the turbo...

why? because its KKK or because you believe a de-cat blows them up?

long line of decats letting turbo spin too fast and they blow up... then again lots dont...
