  • Hmm i also thinks the D uses something similar in the Master Exploder intro solo :D

  • Dear Marty, thank you for posting these videos. You have helped me become a great guitar player in a short amount of time, i have been playing guitar and watching your videos for 5 years!! keep up the great work

  • 1:58 hahahahaha Acid!

  • dislikes go down

  • Nice :D

  • Find it annoying with people saying this is John Frusciante lick or Jimmy Page lick (I am a huge fan of those two btw). It is just that this is a FUNDAMENTAL in rock soloing that EVERYONE uses. Would not call this someones signature lick..

  • @Raxu94 believe it or not it's actually a T bone walker lick. At least that's the earliest I hear a version of this lick. It is very fundamental though you are right, but everybody stole it from T Bone walker.

  • the last version is so frusciante :D

  • Thank you! This helped me learn the intro to Scar Tissue in Sao Paulo :D

  • @FilmPriest me to :D

  • "My shreddy fast lick"

Is that like the stabby rip stab tab knife?

  • holy shit!!! 2:00 was an acid tripppp

  • does that guitar have active pickups??

what's the difference in sound active vs passive pickups??

  • @kep67 The active ones give a lot more like powerful sound you know? They just spitt out the sound ! If youre playing metal than emg´s are great !

  • in the beginning was that "Free bird"

  • the 1st solo is equal to the solo of nothing else matters, just compare and you see that one part of nothing else matters has de same notes.

  • sg rules!! xD

  • Marty ignore the crappy comments the stuff you teach is good, I find this hard and have to ask do you actually touch the high E? With practice I'm sure I will get it in time, once again thank you for your time.

  • @TheGibsonman59 faggot

  • @BassOnABudget My friend has even been plyn longer. . his names Mike Tyack, he's been doin his stuff for years, he's knows Skip . . Skip's Music, he used to have some of the baddest gear, but unf. got stolen, he only has his SG left. .. Went to a music school in Hollywood, had a badass teacher that only let his class use the Marshall Stacks, and wdn let the Jazz assholes tk them ..

  • @TheGibsonman59 bad move man. i love jazz ;P

  • @BassOnABudget I like Jazz to, but this is coming from my friend . . . and which was 20 smthn yrs ago, just to clear that up . . . i play/like Rock, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Motown etc

  • @TheGibsonman59 Epiphone is actually rather nice guitars Gibson is just better sound and quality Gibson is the best though

  • @TheAerosmith3 True, a teacher friend of mine has an Ephi. .. . its nice, but i just prefer the actual Gibson Les Paul, that's all

  • @TheAerosmith3 yah me too i just aint got the money

  • 2:00dude u freak me out!!!

    i fell off me chair!

  • dude the color of the sg when you go to like unverted color is amazing.

  • Back in 1967, I bought a Gibson SG off a friend for $75. I think he paid like $150 for it two years before that. Being the year that it was and with many new "medications & herbs" out there, I stuck out my thumb and went.....? By the time I returned, my room had been changed around and my poor SG had been donated to the sanitation engineers!!! Can't really complain, my parents sure didn't know what it was!!! I just hope some poor guy knew it was his turn to hit the lottery and learned to play!

  • I'm sorry to hear that, man

  • damn sg gibson!!!!!!

    nice!!!!

  • would some please subscribe to my videos of my recordings i made on my 4 track? and tell me what i need to improve on? id like to get to the point where i can play neo classical.

  • Nice job. Love the videos. Keep it up.

  • now I'm gonna haf ta get me an SG dern you Marty1

  • another great vid, way to go marty!

  • What are you using to loop that riff near the end?

  • these are sectuplet notes. or triplet 16th notes. meaning 6 notes in 1 beat. the first bend is worth 2 of those 6 beats then the rest are sectuplets

  • Nom nom nom mmmmmmm.... tasty zone....

  • marty you are king..I AM NOT WORTHY!!!

  • fuck i hate this guy xD

    i want his skills lol

  • reminds me of free bird (i think its free bird anyway)

  • Why not get a standard spend a little more for a more aesthetically pleasing and better sounding guitar?

  • Not a bad lesson, man.

  • Another great lesson. Thanks Marty!

  • tasty zone, i like it, ha

  • good luck on the eric clapton crossroads festival contest.

I HOPE YOU WIN MARTY i voted for you \m/

  • I want your sg special

  • Marty, how many guitars do you own? I am ever so jealy!!

  • It's the pull-offs that are difficult.

  • Very tasty!!

that's the same lick Page uses on Communication Breakdown.

  • kinda the same in stairway to heaven solo too

  • Sweet shirt, ahaha. And thanks for all the lessons!

  • The first lick you show in this video is and always has been my favorite solo lick. Angus Young loves things like this. Also, Slash uses a complex variation on this the Sweet Child of Mine solo. Which I also learned from you. : D

  • Marty your the man!!!

  • Its so much easier to see whats going on when its in HD. Great lick btw.

  • SUPER SLOWLY!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can do this no problem with my ring finger... does it matter if I use my pinky or the ring finger.

  • the solo from nothing else matters contains familiar riff

  • wish i could do that.

  • u rock

  • u rock

  • your a great teacher 5 star man

  • Good work as always, thank you marty for these free lesson's. Youre the man!

  • Hey Marty! Why don't u use alternate picking on that kind of licks? Because of the speed or because of the sound?

  • What guitar pedal? amp?

  • Chuck Berry esque , brilliant,

  • i love your shirt^^ the D!!! yeaa :D

    thanks for the lesson!!

    greez from bavaria :)

  • Any chance you can do a lesson on pinch harmonics? :D

  • WHOLE LOTTA LOVEEEEE

  • i dont think marty is a shredder

  • @rickeygottheblues martys a lover not a shredder bro, hes the man, let him tickle the blues!

  • a lover not a shredder. i love that :')

  • this is the kind of solos that danny jones from mcfly does aren't they? like in I wanna hold you

  • marty what pickups do you have on the sg?

i have an sg standard but they come with the humbucker pickups...yours sound and look great

  • they are humbuckers

  • All SG's have "humbuckers". Gibsons generally use Gibson humbuckers.

Go with Seymour Duncans. Try a Pearly Gates or an SH-14 (Custom 5) in the bridge and a '59 SH-1 in the neck.

  • All SGs don't have humbuckers. The best sounding SGs have p90s, IMHO.

  • Well... they weren't very popular and did not sell well at the time, so they aren't widely used. Sure, p-90's are great, but they did not make the SG the rock guitar it became. You can't get the kind of overdriven sound from a p-90, since it lacks the chunky midrange of a PAF-type 'pup.

  • If Marty has a SG special, I think they are the same pickups as the SG standard, but they don't have the shiny cover.

  • That's humbuckers too... just without the pickup covers.

  • they are humbuckers, they just dont have a flashy plate over the top.

  • @mad6986 those are humbuckers.... look like seymour duncans but i cant say for sure. hope i helped

  • shiby

  • awesomesauce

  • and do more shredding lessons por favor

  • what wrong with the video quality ? :(

  • it's processing

  • @hellknight2610 youtube takes forever to process video quality

  • i have learned so much from these videos, thank you

  • Cool. :D
