i'm a friggin HUGE m. night fan. and i remember watching this and thinking, this is gonna be friggin awesome!! then it came out and i was so pissed off because it sucks so bad. without a doubt one of the worst movies i've ever seen. and i'm the kind of guy who wil watch anything and atleast say it was okay, but this, was terrible.
I hated the acting in this movie. It made it less believable and did not care for any characters. You just anticipate the next death scene. I read though that M. Night wanted the characters to seem aloof and thats why they are all sarcastic. Why he went this route ruined it. This could have been one of the creepiest movies. But seems like a dark comedy.

I don't think there's going to be a Happening 2. Shyamalan is currently working on making a trilogy of movies based off a TV show called Avatar. It'll take him about 6 years, so any sequels to The Happening wouldn't come out until like 2016.
The last scene in the movie was probably to just show "the happening" was occuring in more places around the world, not to imply a sequel.

Yes. He doesn't make horror movies. He makes moral fables. After watching Lady in the Water, it was real clear that his work is more complicated than most horror films. And the horror is not the central point. The horror is more a reflection of the free floating anxiety we all feel every day and that gets expressed in our dreams.

I've read the plot and the spoiler and it looks shit. All M. Night S's films are shit, he always tries to be smart and it never really works. He just seems to make it up as he goes along. The only real good film I have seen by him is The Sixth Sense.
Signs was okay but it was still a bit stupid I thought. By far the best one apart from the Sixth Sense, for me, would be The Village. It had quite a good twist in the ending and a meaningful conclusion.
But I cannot understand why about 4 people have given me negative kudos for my last comment, you all know it's true!

I think that there is a great movie in here somewhere. The premise for this movie is odd, but fascinating. The first 10 minutes are unrelenting in their horror. I understand what M. The whole plot is a failure. Some people may be pussies, but just watching the actors in this movie, almost pissing their pants because KILLER plants are gonna get them, is just pathetic. John Leguizamo was probably the best actor in this whole thing. Zooey Deschanel is pretty hot though.

It's violence for the sake of violence... I strongly discourage anybody who wants to see that movie. It doesn't work out, some parts are totally pathetic. I didn't felt bad at all watching that movie. I felt utterly disgusted, and really disapointed with what Shyamalan tried to do. I mean come on, the script is total crap, from the beginning to the end. The concept was interesting, but not well rendered.

there is something in the air that causes everyone in large groups to stop talking moving then KILL themselves.but thats about it all they do is figure out how to avoid it by staying in small groups basically when the wind starts to blow it makes you to commit suicide(hanging jumping letting lawn mowers run you over busting your head through a window.and at the end everything is ok until everyone stops talking moving.the movie stops but thats how the movie begun....this is honestly VERY boring

I got dragged to see this with my gf believing it would be crap and pretty reluctant to see it. To my surprise and horror it was packed. I carn't help but get angry to see all these people supporting bad movies whilst other good movies completely fly under the raider of the mass public because they don't have the marketing budget. I think that there is a great movie in here somewhere. The premise for this movie is odd, but fascinating. The first 10 minutes are unrelenting in their horror. I understand what M. Night Shyamalan's vision is for this movie, but somewhere along the way the vision was lost. It is possible that it read beter than it plays.

Its funny seeing all the positive feedbacks from this movie before the movie comes out.
