Its interesting to see the bootcamp from the Brits. The Cpls are much like the Junior DIs in the US Marines. When I watched this show last week for the first time I was a little put back on how the Cpls had to coddle some of the recruits feelings. All in all a really neat series...Interesting to see some similarities with our US Marine Corps recruit training in certain aspects. I would hope though that the training now days in the modern military of England is as tough or tougher nowdays.

@silverkong86 firstly, there is no english army, there's the British army, and secondly this is just a programme, british army training is the toughest in the world, for a basic regiment is 26 weeks, USMC basic is 13 weeks. And royal marine commando trainig is 32 weeks far greater than the UK's equivilant with much tougher tests to pass. e.g. the 30 miler, a 30 mile run with full backpack, boots gun etc across the hills of dartmoore

1. We dont have the kind of money to equip every male in the country (A new entry in the army is given £1000 worth of kit on day one and costs even more to train)

2. Men arnt as physicly fit as they were back then.

Dont get the wrong idea. I think Nationel Survice does good but we dont have the resources to make it happen these days.
