all these fucking clowns on here arguing the semantics of the vid. bsk's clearly been training for longer than you idiots have been sitting on your fat asses criticizing each and every detail of random training vids. good lift bro.
I'm glad there are so many comments teaching him how to do close grip properly. Real close grip is where your thumbs can touch, thus causing extreme stress on the elbows and wrists. Obviously the closer your hands are together the more it hits your tris, it has nothing to do with the simple levers that are in action.
Anyone trying to say this is a close grip bench press please take a weight training class because this is not. His hands are exactly shoulder whidth which is the normal bench press anything inside the shoulders would be close and anything outside would be wide grip. Most people always do wide grip because it feels natural.
Nice work man. These other idiots yapping about whether it is close grip or not probably don't have one video up. It is certainly close grip. May not be absurdly close, but then again it won't destroy your wrist where you are gripping.
most people bench with their pinkies on the olympic rings. i like to to put my thumbs on the beginning of the grips. there is one grip in the middle. and then to the left and to the right there is another set of grips. at the closest side to the middle of the bar put your thumbs on the edges of the grips. then thats where you put your hands. tuck your thumbs, and bench
Most of the close grip bench I see people do is with the hands placed like 6-12 inches apart, but I dunno. I'm not gonna tell a guy who does 275 for reps how to bench ;)
Not a close grip at all.Much better to do pushdowns before this exercise so the tri's fail first and not the chest and shoulders like when you do it first.Of course MOST people do it first so they can try and impress people with the weight...this is usually the difference between an experienced trainer and an average person you see in the gym.The experienced guy concentrates on making the muscle do all the work whereas the other guy just wants to push x amount of weight from point a to b.
Haha this is an old post, but I will reply anyways. Close grip is the point (to the mm) where your triceps are the primary muscle pressing the weight. His grip IS a closegrip press. When your hands are more narrow than your shoulder width, elbow inflamation and issues will occur. Rather than looking at his hand placement on the bar, look at his hand placement compared to his body. Definately a closegrip, and definately strong. This guy falls into the experienced guy category.
ya hes def doing close grip thats how i do mine, it works for overall mass of the tricep , bodybuilders tend to go closer with less weight to work the inner tricep more, oh yea good lifts i can only do that for 6 on cg
yo, nice vid.. i normally do my close grips with a closer grip than you, does it target the different tricep muscles depending on the closeness of a close grip press??
Thats' probably because he does more reps with heavy weight instead of one reps like all these powerlifters..This guy can lift and he has the arms to show it, he has long arms and it really is not good for guys with long arms to do real close grip it could mess up his rotor cup...Great pump man..I need to get back and lift..U look like you can bech 375 or better!
I guess I should've called it a narrow grip bench press... I didn't think anyone would argue semantics. How about you post a vid and show me the right way to do it. ;)
dude glad u post these vids, u are huge and have good form,

Sometimes i think my close grip bench is stronger then my regular bench. Do you think my regular bench grip might be wrong?
