  • OMG ITS WORKING! YEEE- (gets to the 00:19 point). aww.

  • What type of calculator you used to capture that video?

  • @atv1vs1mx

It was a Minolta Dimage. They're not made any more, now I use a Fuji Finepix S8100fd

  • its made of glass and glass cracks if it gets to hot :)

  • @djd123123

It's real - follow the link to see how I did it.

  • i randomly got here from 10 other videos witch where related to each other, but the first vid was about minecraft :D

  • "Scotty, I need more power!"

"I'm giviin' it all she's got, Captain."

    "Faster!"

    "She's gonna blow!"

    PLOOP!

  • @TheLangfords sorry but that was years ago and it was probably thrown away with the rest of my school stuff

  • I made a pulsejet in grade 6 and got a A+

  • @bloomantis290

Cool! Could you follow the link in the description, and post a photo of your project? Please?

  • No peanut butter was harmed during the making of this video.

  • @rottencranberry

    ...especially since it's a pasta-sauce jar!

  • @TheLangfords lmao

  • Facinating... The family name on my mothers side is Langford

  • @percheron1654

    Where are you (roughly)?

  • @TheLangfords U.S. Texas. Lots of family in Tennessee, some in Kentucky, some in Florida, etc.

  • @percheron1654

Ah, we're not related AFAIK, but search for "Langford" in the south of England on Google maps.

  • @TheLangfords North West of Taunton?

  • @percheron1654

There are "Langford" villages all over there - look for "Little Langford", "Hanging Langford" and "Steeple Langford" - both out families probably originated in one of those villages.

  • @zoltar420

    No, it's a jet engine.

  • right at the end fail

  • Sounds like a low idle motorcycle.

  • It couldn't take the pressure.

  • @iamcharming2008 The pressure is quite low (notice that the pieces do not fly apart, just fall down). The failure is caused by the intense heat - if you watch my night-time video, you can see orange flashes as the glass starts to burn.

  • @iamcharming2008 The heat made it crack not the pressure.

  • time to go out and start the jar......let it warm up before i go to work

  • farting jar

  • Lol. It just gives up at the end. :)

  • Idk why but at the end I laughed so so hard lol

  • rofl at the end

  • What possible applications can this or something similar to it have?

  • @partyatmccartys Propulsion (have a look around YouTube for Pulse Jets, google for flying bombs).

Heat production and energy generation: the temperature of the flame is very high compared to a normal meths flame, and this type of burner can be tweaked to run on almost any possible liquid fuel (including vegetable oil and waste lubricants), as wel as many flammable powders, such as coal dust.

  • Pataks, why Britain loves curry

  • the engine gives up on life at 0:19

  • Engine Failure at 0:19

  • nice engine, rolls royce should hire u :)

  • @Wintendows yeah... replace the RR engines on the A380s

  • @loey523 try to put it in cold water it works

  • whent it broke it remined me of a scareface...

  • Sounds like a honda

  • Wat size drill bit should I use for the lid or doesn't it matter?

  • @ramboreamer My hole ended up about 12mm diameter, but it depends on the exact size of your jar.

I started with (I think it was) a 4mm hole, and enlarged it slightly between attempts by pushing and twisting a pair of pointed pliers into the hole, then hammering the bent edges flat.

Check the link in the description for more details.

  • about 2 Horsepowers!

  • i know you from instructables!

  • @offspringfanman96 *Waves*

  • @TheLangfords lol

  • hahahahah xD I cant stop laughing...lfmao

  • Does it work to us Nitro fuel, like thoose used in rc cars and stuff like that?

  • @Medaste I guess so, I've never tried.

  • @Medaste i´ve tried it you can´t use 25% nitromethanol fuel use 10% nitromethanol

    feul.

  • @TheLangfords what about straight gas 87 octane

  • @christhetromboneguy (Sorry for the late reply) No, do not use gasoline - the vapours are far too explosive.

  • whats the perfect stuff to put inside?

  • @maxiking8496 I used methanol, but most flammable liquids will work (just don't use gasoline, too higher a chance of an explosion).

  • it sounds like the world's longest fart

  • it died!

  • what do u use 4 fule would white spirits or terpintine work??????

  • @0h4yd3n0 Yes, they should work just fine.

  • @13dgarrett i agree that jar didnt explode anything like the video you posted -_- fucking lazy jars nowadays

  • i made one and my fuel is spray gel. this smells like hairspray so its flamable (it even sais it on the side)

  • i did something like this with gas.

    bad idea ):

  • @loey523 or make another

  • will lighter fuel work? or does it need gasoline?

  • @MaddDogg282 Do not use gasoline, there is too much chance of an actual explosion. Lighter fuel should be fine.

  • @loey523 put it in a bowl of water it wont explode.

  • same amount of pixels a IQ

  • Lol it just breaks at the end XD

  • i like how it doesn't really explode or shatter, it just sort of gives up and falls apart. it's like the jar is saying "alright, i've had enough of this. no more fun for you."

  • @loey523 I know that was one year ago, but you should've put the jar in a pan of water so it didn't overheat.

  • hay man sowin like my 1946 wiliys jeep

  • wouldn't you use a metal container instead

  • put the jar in a tub of water reduces the chance of it breaking

  • lol does it ever end before it "explodes"???? O.o

  • what the hell you mean fake ive made plenty of them. hell i even tied one to a barbie once but that didnt work very well lol

  • idiot

  • look at my real jt engine

  • @clowny220 rofl, dumbass. It would be more difficult to fake this than to make a real one.

  • @clowny220 He is just a DUMBASS

  • @clowny220

You think so? Then you fail.

Follow the link in the information box to find out how to make your own, see if you can do better.

  • why dosent it work?

I do a 1x1 cm hole and nailpolishremover containing isopropyl..

just become a little candle on top of the jar... :( what am i doing wrong??

  • @trippychips cause nailpolishremover has a lot of other junk in it that would keep it from working.

  • What can i use for the fuel? Will rubbing alchohol work? (70% isopropyl?)

  • @lmbngtracer7975

    That should work.

  • J J J 01

  • set the jar in water, put just enough to where it doesnt float. that keeps it very cool.

  • Google is your friend.

This is the same breed of device that powered the buzz-bombs in WWII. No moving parts like turbines, just explosive pulses of combustion. On a small device like this, it sounds like a fart. make it larger, and metal, and it roars. I have seen model aircraft, bikes and dragsters powered by larger versions of the pulse-jet.

  • 00:19 lol

  • i used a metal coffee can made a metal lid and had my buddy weld it on all the way around it lasted for about 6 mins the can started to melt.

  • works just fine in a soda can

  • Umm if you rap the bottle in clear cellophane tape you can fee the flame and it won't shatter.

  • The temperature the jar gets to, the cellophane will at least melt, maybe smoulder and burn.

  • im gonna try methelated spirits see if that works :)

  • That's what I used in this one.

  • can zippo lighter fuel be used as fuel to

  • Probably - it's worth a go.

  • lasted long:O

  • Hey i wanna know what exactly is the fuel. Menthylated spirits? Cause i have lots of that stuff lying around at home.

  • *Methylated* spirits. Check the link in the info box for more details.

  • Why is this thumbed down?

  • what fuel did u use?

  • It's Methanol (meths, denatured alcohol) - check the link in the info box for more details.

  • Thats a Patak's curry sauce jar!

  • Actually, it's a Tesco Pasta sauce jar.

  • NOTHING HAPPENED

  • wat the fuck man are u deaf and blind retard turn the volume up

  • epic fail lol

  • Sorry, I do not understand your post.

  • Comment removed

  • If you read the link, or the comments posted before this, you will see that it is methanol, AKA denatured alcohol.

  • HeHe Yes!:P

    Thanks!

  • how do you make it

  • Check the link in the information, that takes you to an illustrated tutorial I posted on instructables.

  • Methanol and denatured alcohol are two different things. Denatured alcohol is ethanol that has been rendered undrinkable, but should not contain any methanol (because it's toxic).

  • Check your facts - denatured alcohol is typically 10% methanol.

  • In the UK, perhaps. Whoever sells methylated spirits as "denatured alcohol" ought to be locked up. There are actually people who drink the stuff. The point of denaturing isn't to kill whoever drinks it, it's to just make it taste like shit.

  • Like I said, check your facts. If it was safe to drink, the desperate ones couldn't afford to drink it.

It is labelled as dangerous, it contains chemicals to make it taste foul, but still they drink it.

But then, there are people who drink petrol as well...

  • I know my facts. Sure, it's typically denatured with methanol in the UK. The point is, not all denatured alcohol is denatured with methanol. Denatured alcohol ≠ methylated spirits.

  • How about taking your pointless argument somewhere that it matters.

Fell free to reply, though, if the last word is so precious to you...

  • Don't look at me, you're the one who brought up a 4 month old comment. Which, if you think about it, is really a criticism of the British chemical industry and regulations. I never said anything about what denatured alcohol DOES contain, I said what it SHOULD contain.

  • Put it in a pan of water that will cover one third of the jar and it won't shatter or blow up.

  • thats why u use a tin can...

  • no but if you use a tin can u can still squat it but you cant smash it so its not as fun

  • look up ww2 buzz bombs. they sounded like this. that's why it is called a pulse jet

  • No dubbing, that's real (although out of synch).

Try doing a little research before you comment, then you won't look so dumb when *you* try and act smart.

  • agree

  • when i use the camera on something really hot... it glows purple. is that really hot.. or jst coloured purple?

  • Some digital cameras are very sensitive to heat, but several flames (like the jam jar jet) burn with a purple glow.

  • probably the camera picking up the infared light from the flame

  • the more heat radiated the more the color goes into the ultraviolet part of the spectrum. the colder a body or flame is the more towards the infrared and microwave part of the spectrum. looking at a human in infrared shows your body heat radiating, how hot are you?

  • smokin hot ;)

  • no they just used purple methylated spirits

  • man next time put the jar in a pie dish of water it acts as a coolent

  • it just colasped

  • Yes - if you found a heat-proof jar, it would burn for ages.

  • what was happening!!??

  • Check the link in the description.

  • lol i love the ending

  • lmao at the out of sync smash

  • can i find this on any gasz station ??????

  • Look for it in camoing shops, as cooking fuel.

Look at wikipedia for "methylated spirits"

  • whatr fuel plss

  • Fuel is "meths" (methanol, denatured alcohol).

  • whoa 2 much pinto beans dude! hahaha

  • v8 ..

  • It is farting

  • hahahahahhahah

  • i made mine go on for long without breaking; i just put it in a pot plant tray filled with water, works great!

  • the sound timing is a bit off

  • Yeah, I know - it happened in the download process, I don't know why.

  • Can it produce any thrust?

  • Not so you would notice. It mostly produces heat. If you want real thrust, from a simple device, look for videos of pulse jets.

  • lol it blew

  • cn u send me the instructions through the post plz wud really apreciate it thankz contact me for details

  • Not a problem - check the video details, I've added a link to the instructions I wrote.

  • thankz m8 for the instructions nice vid

  • It's meths (methylated spirits / denatured alcohol). Go to Instructables dot com and search for jam jar jet to see how I made it.

  • nice thats a long one

    what liquid did u use?

  • lol

  • sounds like a really long wet fart LOL
