  • I suggest you get a frame nailer. The toy is not for that application. The compressor should have no problem to run a framing nailer and you can get them for less than $100. Good luck

  • @egartigas The CHEAPEST frame nailer is 200 bucks and they need more than 3.2 CFPM air flow.

BTW I gor another one and it works great, please see my latest video on it.

  • A toy with a nice case!! Rigid should be embarrassed. Just as well, it's good for your health to spend some time with a real hammer.

  • Great video, you look healthy.

I have used the same palm nailer on a job and it worked alot better than this. there has to be something wrong with this one... Leave it back and try to get another one or credit at least. Looking forward to this project.

  • Make sure you are getting enough air pressure from your Husky. If I had to bet which product was the "Toy", I'd bet on the Husky, not the Ridgid.

  • @MrGoosePit I had the air as high as 75lbs on the nailer, the nailer calles for 55lbs.

  • @old64goat Ridgids' Manual: "The correct air pressure is the lowest air pressure that will do the job...", "designed to operate... between 50 and 120 psi." (pdf can be viewed online). Problems reported by Husky compressor owners are: the guage over indicates the air pressure by as much as 20lbs! Some don't even generate over 50lbs of pressure at all despite what the guages show. My personal Husky burned up inflating a tire! Probably why the Husky's were cleared out so cheap. Sorry. :(

  • @old64goat "...the nailer calls for 55lbs.". No it does NOT. Read the manual online. I quoted the requirements right from the manual. And from personal experience no palm nailer is going to operate at 50-75lbs of pressure. NO WAY! You'll need at LEAST 90lbs to pound the nails you were using. Tell the guys at HD your were using 55-75lbs and see what his reaction is!!!

  • @MrGoosePit That is what it says in the BOOK that came with the nailer, BTW I got another one today and it works good, I set it to 90lbs.

I understand what you are saying about 55lbs, I was only QUOTING from my book.

The new one works great, I will be posting a video on it soon.

  • @old64goat You should re-read what the BOOK says. Here's what you obviously missed: "This tool is designed to operate on clean, dry compressed air at regulated pressures between 50 and 120 psi . The correct air pressure is the lowest pressure that will do the job." Yeah, the book says start at 55lbs and increase or decrease pressure to do the job. For your job, the high end of the pressure scale should be used, not the low end!

  • @MrGoosePit Okay I understand, as I had mentioned at the start of this video, I never worked with palm nailers before, but I have worked with brad nailers before.

I read that same "quote" from the book and I understand, they made it sound like it will do the job at those pressures.

I know now that you need 90lbs or more to do the job I want to do.

Remember I am just learning, air tools are new to me.

    Thanks for your input.

  • Hey William, take a look at this guy and his palm nailer: watch?v=by0eqOKon18

I think yours might be a dud. Try exchanging it for one that works correctly before you give up on it. According to what I saw in the above video, it's a wonderful tool to have around that can really blast nails through lumber. I sure could have used on last week.

  • @Barnekkid Is this the video called: "Bostich Palm Nailer" made in 2007?

It looks like the RIDGID same color.

    His sure works great.

I will have to see if I can get another one, mine WAS defective no doubt.

  • Hi Bill, I am going to build a small shed this spring to, but i can tell you one thing, i will not be using a palm hammer lol. I might get a air nailer from harbor freight. My wife saw your videos and said you remind her of me, always doing something, can't ever relax lol. Your shed looks like its coming along.

  • @lar4305 Air nailers are very costly and they need large compressors.

I was looking at the palm nailer from HF but it is out of stock, I never bought from HF.

  • I like tryin' new tools....You get junk now and then..that's the way the mop flops..My, wife tells me to calm down..But,I tell her everything I buy.is made on Friday (loafing day) LOL.Hope the weather stays nice(Dream on).Keep up the great work making videos..Enjoy watching you,Mr Bill...

  • @redismyhair Yes this palm nailer WAS made on Friday afternoon....LOL.

  • it's not working properly. I've used one and it was waaaaayyyy faster than that. I'd say that it hit the nail about 10 times per second.

  • @menace6699 I am looking for another one, I may have to drive 20 to 25 miles to another HD because the stores around here are out of stock, BTW Home Depot only sells Ridgit palm nailers.

  • I believe I will stick with hammer!! enjoyed watching my friend!!

  • @1952banjo Yes but these things are good (when working) to drive in those nails in hard to tight places.

That is mostly why I bought it.

  • @old64goat yes your right ! should be one that actually works out there!! wish you luck my friend!!

  • @1952banjo Hi Virginia, I may try to get another one.

  • Hi,

    I always enjoy the videos.

Regarding the palm nailer it sounded like the pressure was way too low.

Your other video on the compressor shows 2 gauges on the top; 1 for tank pressure and 1 for pressure being delivered from the regulator.

I guess the obvious question is was the regulator valve showing the required pressure the nailer?

The tank gauge should be 100 or more when its pressure switch cuts off.

I know this is probably obvious, but sometimes it is good to ask anyway.

    Best regards.

  • @ac4552 The tank pressure was 135 lbs. and the output pressure was 55lbs to start and I went up to 75lbs like the book says for the nailer.

  • @old64goat

It is hard to find good tools; a lot of junk out there.

Maybe you just got a bad one.

    Good luck to you

  • The palm nailer was HI-larious! I'm still laughing that one off!

  • @xmpsrt YES this palm neiler IS HI-larious!

  • Hey Bill,It's lookin' good ,no thanks to that Ridgid contraption! Never seen anything like that! Take it back.LOL! We live and learn don't we? Have a good week,it has been 60 degrees here for the past few days, crazy Jan. weather. Jerry

  • @jc6154 Hi Jerry, I took it back but the HD was out of stock so they gave me a store cridit, HD only carrys RIDGID brand in the palm nailers.

    Thanks for stopping by Jerry.

  • wow ,,, is there anything you can't do ....nice vid's

  • @SRVjediknight YES, I can't sing or play the guitar or be young again...LOL.

    .

  • Great vid man.

  • @Matrixsos Thanks !

  • another great video thanks for sharing...

  • @MrOne2watch Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Your Palm is defective.. Id try to return it for another.. Mine works perfect. MUCH faster than that

  • @icegrx That is what I thought, I brought it back and got a store credit, they had no more in stock.

I went to another HD and they were out of stock also, the guy in the tool dept said he has the same one and his works great.

  • You have a defective nailer..Thanks for sharing your project.

  • @ncautoman57 Yea the story of my life, just my luck if I did find another it too will poop the bed.
