wouldn't it be easier to reformat to factory settings your disk instead of waiting that long? and reformatting to factory settings would erase all previously deleted files?

What if you have already emptied your trash and you want to erase those files permanently is there away to look for things you have thrown away and securely empty those files.

@myronrob To erase free disk space:

In Disk Utility, select the disk or partition in the list at the left with the free space you want to erase.

Click Erase, and then click the Erase Free Space button.

Select how to erase the free space, and then click Erase.

MAY TAKE A LONG TIME IF U HAVE A LARGE hard drive.
