edgewalker18, the correct choice for you is not the correct choice for the next guy. also, MTG and school aren't mutually exclusive, look at guys like Conley Woods and Cedric Phillips (and many others) who have had success in both. just b/c you might not succeed is no reason not to try. the chance to travel the world and broaden your horizons while playing the greatest game ever made is a worthy goal, even though statistically it cannot be for everyone.
Not everyone who treats MTG like a second life is successful. Then you realize that all the time/effort you spent at, what is ultimately a hobby, should've been spent in school where you can get a real job. THEN you spend your paychecks buying MTG...that's the way you do things.
Come now now, you can say that about anything. No everyone who goes to school can get a job and not everyone is successful with work. That argument isnt sound.
*sigh* I guess I can't speak for anyone since being a professional MTG player isn't my field of study...that doesn't change my feelings on the subject though.
The Bucher/Ruel thing was pretty intense. I didn't realize the extent to which people work out the chances of T8ing at PTs...though I suppose, why the hell not.
what's the name of the song that starts at 9:15? Awesome video again by the way Mr. Erwin. I met Manuel at GP:L.A. last year, I'm glad he made it to top 8. Congrats dude
Mindtricks are fine as long as they don't delve into the realm of cheating. I've been a victim of that scenario in a vintage event, but it didn't hit me what happened until I was driving home :(
got to love how at the begining they show a shot of Mark Pool doing an artist mod to a mana drain that he had previously signed once befor, adding the Falcon and some Tie Fighters

in magic it's just like poker:
in poker you can't bluff a bad player cuz he doesn't know what you are doing.
this also goes for jedi mind tricks in magic, they only work on good players.

@MrFreak0r
i agree somewhat with your statement, a subtle ploy may be overlooked by a inexperienced player, but more overt trickery may catch their eye.

Setting music to the worlds rewards ceremony changes everything; when they do the webcast they should do that

Some of these players treat MTG as a religion. As much as I love the game, MTG, as a hobby, should be just that. Not a lifestyle choice.
edgewalker18 2 years ago
what about people who make money playing the game. people make it a lifestyle because it is a source of income.
