Also, love clingy cats. I don't know how anyone can say it's too much. I adore when my baby follows me everywhere. I just scoop her up into my arms and keep her close. ♥
They forgot to say that they are Very intelligent and Very highly active, and preferably you should have a friend for your burmese. The best option is a second burmese. I got a creme european burmese, my first cat :) A second cat is on the way during 2012 cause he is tearing the house down due to understimulation and I cant give him the cat social part that he needs.

Broncojuan - Go immediately to a veterinary opthomologist. We had very poor luck over the years with our regular vets - they aren't really trained to specialize, and although they did their collective best, they often couldn't diagnose in time to stop the issues. Call your regular vet's office and ask for a reference - they will know where you can go. American Burmese especially have eye problems similar to push-faced dogs. Good luck with your kitty!
thanks so much ..in fact I have one of this type (Burmese)..and I thought that it is an Egyptian cat..but it was Chinese..he is very nasty and wild..he is not domestic
I have 2 EuroBurms. This is a great little video that tells it like it is. Burms are clingy but I like this. They are loving and gentle but they have loud, annoying "bad Burmese voices". The gingivitis health issues are true as well. Still, if it isn't a Burmese it's just a cat.
@1welshirish i totally can relate to the clinginess and the nasty raspy voices - but i love both traits!! maybe theyre not for everybody but i love my cat's "specialness"!!
@williamkelly9009 i maybe will get these cat breeds THE SIBERIAN RUSSIAN BLEU OCICAT KORAT PIXIE-BOB AUSTRALIAN MIST CHEETOH JAPANESE BOBTAIL MUNCHKIN BENGAL TOYGER SNOWSHOE RAGAMUFFIN SPHYNX SOMALI EGYPTIAN MAU NEBELUNG SCOTTISH FOLD COLORPOINT SHORTHAIR BURMESE
My Burmese is microchipped, has yearly vet visits, and never has he lethal claws clipped...ever. She is proud of them and she grooms them daily. Her blue Burmese sister is similar but she is my shy girl. I always talk to her softly and play gently with her as she gets scared easily as she wasn't socialized when young. They both sleep on my bed inside their kitty bed, often with my arm around one of them. I believe that these cats are THE most loving cat ever born.
My chocolate Burmese looks blac k but she is brown in strong light, with milk chocolate underneath. At age 7, she is now getting some reddish highlights in her fur. She has short silky fur but still gets furballs, despite 3 brushings a day, hairball malt and grass (from the lawn.) . She demands attention and playing with her is so much fun. She will gently put her paw or teeth on me but only lightly. She loves to play and has a cat condo, cat tree and 2 kitty beds. She is so loving.
There are three types: European, American, and the Contemporary. They look very different from each other... DO YOUR RESEARCH - The contemporary has some nasty genetic issues and shares sinus and eye problems with the American. The European is lovely and much healthier, but not as spectacular looking as the American or the Contemporary. Choose wisely - get to know your breeder.
@Nellirubina Is there anything that can be done about the eye problems? I have one and he is constantly scratching his eyes. I clean them two to three times a day, and it seems to help for a little while, but only about 5 mins or so then he right back to scratching them. He has been to several vats and they don't have any ideas.
@Nellirubina Sorry to bug you but im from Australia and I got my Burmese boy who is now nearly 1 and a half from a registered breeder and was charged $550 and ive noticed he is somewhat crosseyed after a few months of getting him. Is this a known genetic defect ? I actually dont care how he looks now because he is the best cat! But from a breeders perspective should a kitten with a defect should of been sold at full price?
@danixdoll1 Hey! Actually, because of the siamese crossbacks, it's probably not so unusual to have a burmese with a slight eye cross. I didnt' pay full price for my baby, because of the circumstances. Usually a breeder will give a break for imperfections, but it's up to the breeder. There is no regulation on this kind of thing... You might call the breeder and ask if there will be any complications down the road, and discuss it with them.
@Nellirubina Thankyou for your reply it means alot. He doesnt seem to have vision problems that im aware of it just seems to be a cosmetic thing. It kinda gives him character lol. Hes going for a check up at the vet clinic tomorrow so i will be getting it all checked out to see if theres any issues.
they have mistaken the havana for the burmese at the opening of the video and when they list the attributes. the same thing was done in reverse on the havana video. note how much longer the havana's face is than the burmese cat's faces in the rest of this video.
I have an American Burmese! He's the BEST.
