@TSURUGIpass Asahina passed away at the end of 2001,his first professional concert with NHK performed Tchaikovsky N0.5, & his last concert with Osaka Phil. in Oct. 2001 also performed this symphony. Is it a Fate?
Although Bruckner's work is not for everyone's taste, and I don't appreciate his music that much either, but look at Takashi Asahina, A GRAND MASTER OF HIS ART, A SILVER HAIRED GENTLEMAN ON THE PODIUM. He brought the piece in perfect end with such sense of scale & dignity. Hear Chicagoan giving him the enthusiastic applause. Bravo Asahina !!
