Actually there is only one Marine 1, and it is the helibocpter with the president on it. Any helicopter carrying the president is designated Marine 1... it could be some random news helicpoter, if the president is on it, it is Marine 1. Just like Air Force 1. It's not actually Air Force 1 without the president on it, and if I took the president in a ride in my C172, it would be designated Air Force 1.

Take that same US Government Aircraft, and put it under a Navy crew, it would be Navy One. Likewise, Army One for an Army crew. In the case of civilian planes, with a Civilian crew, the FAA would assign a Flight Number based on the owner's protocol.

Actually there is only one Marine 1, and it is the helibocpter with the president on it. Any helicopter carrying the president is designated Marine 1... it could be some random news helicpoter, if the president is on it, it is Marine 1. Just like Air Force 1. It's not actually Air Force 1 without the president on it, and if I took the president in a ride in my C172, it would be designated Air Force 1.

@nano4288 That would be true if the aircraft were the property of the US Government, under the command of a Marine Crew. Take that same US Government Aircraft, and put it under a Navy crew, it would be Navy One. Likewise, Army One for an Army crew. In the case of civilian planes, with a Civilian crew, the FAA would assign a Flight Number based on the owner's protocol.

@ERA3733 actually the plane is named under which type of military it would serve under..... since its a plane... its called Air Force 1 the helicopter is called Marine 1 cause the marines can basically do anything and go anywhere like a helicopter... if the president had a tank or something it would be called Army 1 and if he had a submarine or boat it would be called Navy 1....

@dsbizz1 Having retired from Army service after 41 Years, and specialized in Logistics, including the movement of Military equipment and personnel, I can say from first hand knowledge what I said earlier. The VIP Callsign is based on the Military Service providing the vehicle, and the Place of Succession of the VIP carried. If it were an USAF Helicopter, it would remain Air Force 1.

@akashnijjar89 Missile proof? Course not, though I believe it has chaff and flare dispensers. Usually its escorted by fighter aircraft though

Some people are surprised that Airforce1 costs as much as it does. Airforce1 is the flying white house (how awesome is that) The President can conduct business on that plane just as he could in the White house. I wish I were in Mark Tillmans shoes (the pilot) then again, maybe not -- that's a lot of responsibility ..lol
