I'm going into Infantry Phase 1 & 2 on sunday and this is all I have to say concerning WW2. Germany lost because it invaded Russia. At the end of the war Russia was ready to invade Japan and occupy China. America was not even close to doing either. Hence why the resort to dropping Nuclear Weapons, even when contemporary theorists thought it would have a great chance of igniting the atmosphere. If that isn't arrogance (putting the whole world at risk but doing it still) then I'm not sure what is.

Other than direct fighting the USA produced vast amounts of food, arms and other goods for its allies. Huge amounts of goods were shipped to Russia, China, Britain and others. Britain relied almost entirely on American loans and oil to stay in the war after 1940. Russia relied largely on American trucks, boots and food to keep their armies mobile after early 1943.
Overall you could say that the USA did about 90% of the fighting for the Allies in the Pacific (combined naval, air and land). Against Germany the USA did about 45% of the air campaign, 10% of the land campaign, and probably 5% of the naval.

I'm going into Infantry Phase 1 & 2 on sunday and this is all I have to say concerning WW2. Germany lost because it invaded Russia. At the end of the war Russia was ready to invade Japan and occupy China. America was not even close to doing either. Hence why the resort to dropping Nuclear Weapons, even when contemporary theorists thought it would have a great chance of igniting the atmosphere. If that isn't arrogance (putting the whole world at risk but doing it still) then I'm not sure what is.

Other than direct fighting the USA produced vast amounts of food, arms and other goods for its allies. Huge amounts of goods were shipped to Russia, China, Britain and others. Britain relied almost entirely on American loans and oil to stay in the war after 1940. Russia relied largely on American trucks, boots and food to keep their armies mobile after early 1943.

Overall you could say that the USA did about 90% of the fighting for the Allies in the Pacific (combined naval, air and land). Against Germany the USA did about 45% of the air campaign, 10% of the land campaign, and probably 5% of the naval.

90% of the Fighting where ? In Borneo,, Burma,, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, I am afraid your ill read about the Far east Yes you had Naval battles but that was about it, by 44/45 The nips were on their last legs in terms of logistics.

@Changchey The allies would not have won if the US had not provided critical supplies needed to fight a large scale war. Things like weapons, ammo, Fuel for tanks and aircraft as well as food for both the military and the civilian population. As for "turning up late".. We were also fighting in the pacific and in Europe. The US was not a military superpower at the start of ww2, we were also an isolationist country at the time.

ITS true im an x brit infantry in 1998 they put 650 us marines against 150 of our guys field test camp ripely minasota using there ISAWS kit we had 32 marines whith us to run skirmeshes agains them drew em in every time we slaghter them they couldent even hide from us at night WHITE LIGHT givaway Amutures is all i can say dont get me wrong im not disrespecting the american people ( I married one ) its the people in comand use stupid tactics its wrong but they dont care send in 10,000 more

@keirfree Um. 1st Canada, Australia? You really have 0 knowledge of history. The last i checked Canada and Australia are part of the commonwealth. In other words they had to fight for the commonwealth. The US isn't part of that commonwealth anymore. You know that little thing called the revolutionary war changed that. 2nd. The US was not a military superpower in 1939. But the US funded the allies from the start.

as the UK had before you sold anything had Shot the Luftwaffe out of the Skies over the UK Sept 1940, Battle of Britain,, then went on to Sink the Kriegsmarine Feb 1942,, Battle of the Atlantic, chase Rommel out of Africa, 1942
keep the Med free, and in doing so, stopped the Nazi march into the Aegean, So what did the USA do ??

the USA air force performed much better than any similar force during 1943-45. The American AF took on the German defenses during daylight and the bombers generally sought out military targets.
The navy Outnumbered in numerous battles the USA forces nonetheless won almost every engagement against well run, well equipped Japanese forces. The USA submarine battles against Japan were also exceptional.
