  • 18 dislikes..oh the irony...

  • I'm going out on a limb here and say that This WAS 1971, but not the Stone Pony. He still has the fake eyelashes painted around his eyes, not the solid black. That change came later than 71.

  • @FieldKat I would say the 'Sunshine Inn ' as Sabbath and Zepplin also played the Sunshine . It burnt down

  • I see that was noted already. My bad

  • This couldn't have been live at the Stone Pony in 1971. The Stone Pony opened in 1974. But still a great song.

  • My grandfather Jack Richardson (R.I.P) produced this song. Its actually a funny story. Bob Ezrin ("Pink Floyd’s" The Wall) came in and said “I found this amazing band, we have to sign them”. Gramps refused, but after some persistence, he agreed. Im VERY glad he did, because that song almost single handedly launched the U.K. punk movement (Johnny Rotten got auditioned to this song...and made it).

  • i was 12 when this song came out and it hit me hard...it still hits a nerve every time I hear it..........great song

  • Love this and I was 20 yo at this time. Still love it.

I've got a baby's brain and and old man's heart. yep.

  • Just turned 18 - headed to 'Nam when this came out. Saw him live at the U of H campus. Who would have thought THE original "Punk" would hail from Arizona ?

  • im 18 today!!

  • Whats funny is that the Stone Pony didn't open up until 1974. This video that this concert is from is often labeled as such, but it couldn't have been "The Stone Pony" in NJ.

  • @Zenutheduck Your absolutly right that why I click on this down load! It might be at the pony but a later date. I can't make out anything cause its really of a poor quality. But people this is not made 1971. The duck was right..

  • Rock N Roll Hall of Fame 2011!! Alice forever!!

  • What a raw ass recording, thank you for sharing this! God damn Alice Cooper has been jamming for decades. REAL rock right here guys and gals

  • i"m 48... I"m boy and I"m a grandfather...I have a 18 y.o. brain in a grandfather body............but like it!!!!

  • Rappers in the rock hall of fame before Alice? What is wrong with people? What is Rock about rap?

  • how beatiful is to see dennis play bass :)

  • i am 18 and i hate it...

  • my birthday is coming in like 3 days, ill be turning 18 and this song will finally be applicable.

  • my pops pointed out to me how fucking true this song is. alice coopers the shit

  • awesome! my band, The Glycerine Queens, are playing at The Stone Pony December 12!

  • thanks for this versiion i dont seen it, so cool

  • I remember when I was eighteen yea really I do, naw, I don't. Love you Alice.

  • The Bob Dylan of Punk Rock. Without the huge audience that Alice created all by himself, there never would have been any Punk rock at all, not even for one day. And he gets absolutely Zero credit. He is ignored by jealous people. It is an absolute, unforgivable Crime that this man is not in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Tremendous jealousy is at play here.

  • @54markl Amen brother. Those elites that vote for the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame are just a little clique. If they don't like you for whatever reason you don't get inducted simple as that. Has nothing to do if your deserving or not.

  • @dsfddsgh I know, it's ridiculous. David Bowie is in the R&RHOF and, good as he was, he was not as influential to latter-day rock 'n roll as Alice was. Bowie switched to disco for chrissakes! Commercial non-entities like Billy Joel and Elton John disgrace the HOF with their presence; Alice is more deserving to be there than they are. He actually changed rock 'n roll in a way that can still be seen today. Rock would now sound like Abbey Road without him (though I like Abbey Road).

  • sickness

  • audio is absolutely aweful on this post.

  • @smokeymonkeyorg so is your friggin rotten spelling.....

  • Us old people's version!

  • Bands today can not do this. There were no computer driven recording devices in the rack no magic men behind the curtain remember this is the pony or any bob ezrin tidbits except for the performance tips he gave them. thank you for posting.

  • Bands today can not do this.

  • this album "Love it to Death" Rules!!!

  • rad. im 24. dad had been into rock forever so naturaly i grew up on all the zep, sabbath, alice, deep purp., ten yrs after. etc...and i play music for what will hopefully someday be a living as a singer, and alice cooper was and is my biggest inspiration along with my father. awesome...

  • This is a cover of an Eater song called 15, crazy man crazy :)

  • Wow!! I adore this!!

  • 18 today.

  • It's great to see this from 1971! The first concert I ever went to was Alice's Billion Dollar Babies tour in 1974. I loved him then and I still love him all these years later.

  • @tailsoluv The Billion Dollar Babies tour started on March 1, 1973 and ran until June 7, 1973. Then there was the Billion Dollar Babies Holiday tour from Dec. 8th until the 31st of 1973, with songs from the newly released Muscle of Love album included in the show. I saw the show in Toronto on Dec. 14th. And lastly, the South American Billion Dollar Babies tour that ran from March 30, 1974 until April 8, 1974, 5 shows in total all in Brazil. Those were the days for great music and performances!

  • Read Alice's book Titled Golf Monster-very good!

  • @DrHogfan I'm on page 111 now lol. Great read and a great insight to a living legend

  • Detroit started shock rock thru Alice Cooper and punk thru Iggy. No matter how bad it gets, I will never leave this city.

  • Refrigerator Heaven always keeps it cool. Why is he not in the RRHOF is a crime. Grand Master Flash is----really, really, no really. If they start a Rap Hall of Fame will "Whitey" get in????

  • Heard this song for the 1st time long before I was 18....When this song is played today I'm 18 again...There is a reason for this tune...AMEN!!!

  • What ronwell438 said! Nearing 50 myself, and the song is more poignant for me than it was back in the day.

  • this is my last day that i can listen to this song and it's actually true. Tomorrow is my birthday, man. But I don't wanna get any older man, I can do what I want, whenever I want. Wanna stay 18 forever!!!

  • Alice Cooper rocked and still rocks his fuckin ass off! All you Manson, Zombie, and "goth rockers" better pay respect to the man they call Alice!

  • who finds thes old tapes befr there on youtube

  • love it well done alice and Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce , Dennis Dunaway,Neal Smith

  • I love it, good thing he got sobber though

  • Are you sure this wasn't The Sunshine Inn in Asbury? I saw him there in 71 and The Stone Pony did not exist yet.

  • Yeah, Cooper was so awesome in Espoo! Rock on!

  • Isn't he coming back in summer to sonisphere?

  • Yeah true, he's coming to sonisphere next summer! : )

  • I just came from Alice's perform in Espoo, Finland :DDDDD so good

  • Hi Man,

I saw him last tuesday in Kerkrade - The Netherlands and indeed it was Great....

    Greetings and keep on rockin....

  • @lauradorp daar wou ik ook bij zijn. ik ben jaloers op jou!!!!!!

  • I'm eighteen now, I plan on listening to this song everyday untill I'm 19. It'll be a good year.

  • @brittanynoel22 hey, i´m 43 and still listen to it, don´t you stop

  • @brittanynoel22 already done it

  • @brittanynoel22 nice be 18 in a little under 2 months :D

  • @brittanynoel22 why stop at 19?

  • I've only heard 'poison' and 'shools out'. But i'm going to watch him in plymouth in about 2 hours!

  • fuck! ur there right now/....im 15 years old and i seen him live 3 times :D:D:D i really wanna see him again buh hes not live near me for ages

  • CATERVA!

  • Alice cooper is the best

  • Funny, when I first started digging this tune I was no where near 18 and thought it was so far off. Played covers of it in bands in my teens and twentys and now I am an old F#@* at 50. Song still rocks though.

  • haha I am 50 too. I was heavily into this when I was 13 and couldn't wait to be 18. I wish I could take that back now...

  • @ronwell438

Same here, mon frere. Those freaky "In Concert": performances...whoa! Played this song my first band in high school too.

  • Want to hear the worst song ever Recorded come to my page

  • back in the day one would buy an album and listen to it all the way thur, often every song... maybe skip that one song...

now a days one buys an album and maybe listens to two or three tracks, sometimes the video single is better then the audio track alone

Alice Cooper From The Inside is an album where you wear headphones and don't let anything interrupt until the entire album is done and no video is needed

  • in the beginning the rock gods said let there be Alice ,,,and it was so.....and on the second day He created Sabbath and saw that it was good

  • I rly miss the old times...:(nowadys rock music is in teh void and RAP a dangerous enemy:P may prevail..its bad but thats the way the things are:(.I see all my friends listening to T.I jay-z and crap like these..rihanna and im the only who keeps on rocking.sometimes i wanna grab a heavy piece of wood and hit them in teh head lol.The fuckn rap is no music its a disease who needs to be clensed imo..fuckn rapers i wish u burn in infinite hell and let rock breathe for fucks sake .niggas! yakk

  • great sound. i came across a book AC wrote-the title is 12 steps of golf-but it is really about how alice cooper started and become the legend he is-couldn't put the book down-great book

  • i'm really eighteen, and i really don't know what i want. all i know is, i want the good times back - 70's

  • New school is so bad they should all drop out cause they've all flunked with me and my grading of what's real music!!!

Signed, the wannabe DJ & rockstar, Moxie F...

  • OK I'm pretty sure Alice was inspired by Arthur Brown. (Look up early Arthur Brown on youtube) But I must say he is as original as can be. I see no copy cat here.

  • Arthur Brown had like one hit. "Fire" back in the 60's, Alice was more inspired by Shock Rock he came before KISS.

  • WOW! This is OLD SKOOL, BABY!

  • i'm from old school and i hate new school with passion

  • I am the same way, DUDE. I like old school better than new school. I am into all the old stuff.

  • Listen to this song closely. Skid Row got the idea for 18 & Life from this riff.

  • holy crap dude, you're right.

  • caterva!

  • Comment removed

  • Dennis Dunaway's 'frog' bass is incredible!

  • You wouldn't have happened to see the video of cooper from an early 70s show with him wearing a white wonderwoman shirt?

    I can't find it anywhere. :(

  • Makes me think Alice was influenced by Iggy Pop

  • Other way around.

  • Debatable. Looks like Iggy was a signed artist before Alice. No one wants to be seen to copy, though everyone admits to influences. Then there are cultures...movements. I lean toward the theory that usually there is an original, then there is someone who takes that idea and commercializes it.

  • Iggy was an artist before alice but he didn't start doing alice's style till after alice started.

  • Mom and Dads making me drink whiskey...Oh" okay!

  • I'm so glad for a chance to see this. Thank you! I remember how Alice flipped everybody out when he first came out. Before then all our music was about peace and love, and there was nothing at all like him. I'd estimate half of his audience was tripping and the other half stoned, and people were screaming and running out of the theater.

  • The Stone Pony didn't exist in '71..It didn't open till '75. If this is from Asbury Park it would be from the Sunshine Inn which Alice did play in '71.

  • I like when he chops of baby heads!

  • im 18 yeahhhhhh

  • Alice rlz!!!

  • i have no idea what you are taking about

  • alice cooper is the new prince of darkness

  • umm...Alice Cooper was before the prince of darkness (OzzY) so IDK what that makes him but technically I think he ranks higher (though OzzY has more memorable songs IMO)

  • they are both fucking legends. I think it's silly and petty to compare them to each other.

  • You say Fall Out Boy - I say Led Zeppelin

You Say YouMeAtSix - I say Queen

You say Panic at the Disco - I Say Alice Cooper

You say Metro Station - I say The Who

You say MCR - I say Dio

You say tacky cheap fake rock - I SAY REAL STUFF

Copy & paste around youtube if you are sick of fake new rock!

  • sorry but that was fucking gay.

  • right on man, im 18, and i love this !

  • you say R.A.P - i say R.etards A.tempting P.oetry

  • i am so sick of these rock junkies that like talking smack on hiphop what you listen to is probaly mtv junk which no matter the genre is always bad look to the underground

  • yeah no, newer bands suck but are better than rap, most rappers dont even make beats just make rhymes im short and white and even i could rap and i dont think rappers take over 10 years or in alice's case over 50 to become good at something rap requres NO talent unless you talk about 80s rap so shut the fuck up dildo lickin homo!

  • i agree i love rock music but, with any music its about the integrity of the groups and songs, id rather listen to Coo[er over biggie or tupac anyday but at the same time id listen to tupac and biggie over any one of those gay VH1 rock band, that said alot of new hip hop is just horrid( almost suicide inducing)

  • hiphop isnt music but thanks for playing anyway

  • just because you don't like it doesn't make it "not music."

  • fadedfuck is absofuckinglutely right.

  • Why is youtube deleting certin comments now, some of those are the best part of youtube.

  • i agree. i get wisdom from these stuff!

  • I think if a comment gets more than 6 thumbs down, youtube removes the comment!

It sounds like bullshit to me!

  • The Anthrax version is beautiful too..

  • the stone pony opened up in 197!!!

  • Wow.. alice on the harp! Sweet

  • this is really fucking rad.

  • Im eighteen. On my birthday i couldnt get this song out of my head. ahha

  • Big Daddy turns 18 in less than a week!

    Not that you should care...

    haha

    Big Daddy

I hate when people make their video comments all about themselves!

  • Happy birthday big daddy

  • awesome video!!!!!!!

ill be 18 in 9 months..... cant fuckin wait!

  • Where do you find Alice Cooper from 1971

  • in three days im gonna be 19:(

  • how does it feel to feel your youth fleeting? just wait till you turn 22 that's when it really hits you! good luck!

  • Comment removed

  • you'll always be 18 if you want. don't freak yourself out

  • hey the sone pony didn't open till 74 i think its the sunshine inn..

  • Indeed it is the Sunshine Inn, in Asbury Park

  • fucking cool early recording

  • in a day i won't be 18 anymore....

  • his voice hasn't changed much

  • I turned eighteen one minuet ago

  • Thanks for posting this video. My first concert ever was Alice Cooper in 1970 at Fair Park Arena, Birmingham Alabama.

  • lol...ur so dumb...everybody knows clowns weren't invented till 1632

  • Great song!!!!terrible recording of it!!

  • i live like 5 minutes away from asbury

  • Great performance, really enjoyed it.

  • oh man akbar is a queer.

  • Hey man, if you don't like rock then get off this vid!

  • I think you are a fucking idiot.

I like all genres of music, but Sean Kingston absolutely ruined (raped, disfigured, disgraced, mutilated, etc) this song.

  • If you're talking about art in music don't mention hip hop, that shit isn't even music. I will take people actually PLAYING instruments and singing as oppossed to fast talking and sounds from a program. Metal is probably one of the most talented and hardest styles to play, as well as rock.

  • His track(learn to spell) isn't to tell the truth, it sounds like shit. If that heartless, soulless cover is your definition of rock being dead and it that it defines the "new" which in your case is Hip Hop, RnB, and Raggae, your way in over your head, Bob Marley, he is raggae, not sean kingston,Run-DMC, their hip hop, not sean kingston, and Mariah Carey, Prince, Whitney Houston, Micheal Jackson, their fucking R&B, theres a difference between RnB and R&B, and to name RnB can't stray from sinatra

  • ROFL.

    Very lengthy and articulate outburst.

    "Learn to spell" ?

The correct abbreviation for they are is

    they're not their.

  • lo0k dood, hess comentin on utube, not riteing a fucking boo0k

  • -continued-

Sean kingston's cover is over produced, you can't stray further from the truth than covering up music with stabilizers and voice changers, and he makes the song sound way to much like pop, and too happy for the meaning of the song, your don't know anything about Rock, its meanings, the truths behind it, the message it sends, real music is free, real music is not your definition of music

  • OH DAMN! And here I thought instruments and real singing WAS real music. I didn't know real music was computer programs and overproduction! God! You just know SO much about music don't you?

  • did you just say "hip hop" and "music" in the same paragraph?

  • Kinda like "Disco" and music...I had a bumper sticker once that read " Disco is to Music as Etch-a-sketch is to ART"... Got a LOT of honks followed by thumbs up for that one

  • saw him in 05 on the dirty diamonds tour,it was the first rock concert i've been too and it was amazing i was blown away.

it was in sweden in this little place that you would expect unknown bands play at not alice cooper, but that was even better that way because you stood really close to the stage :D

  • I had Alice Coopers greatest hits on 8 track, cassette, vinyl and cd and still listen to it once a week. Great footage.

  • Alice Cooper is soo fucked up right now, you can just tell by looking at him.

  • Marilyn Manson is a cheap knockoff of the real thing.

  • My friend is a metal head and he cant grasp the fact that Marilyn Manson is obviously a Cooper fan. Manson has a womens name he wears crazy makeup and sports insane stagewear JUST LIKE ALICE!!!!!! He just doesnt get it. And for all tose who read this and complain i do know that Marilyn Manson got his name from Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. I also know that his real name is Brain Warner. Iknow that Alice Coopers real name is Vincent Dameon Furnier too!!!

  • Marilyn Manson sucks, he is a hardcore cooper rip off.he has even gne as far as to call cooper a "poser" because they went to meet for lunch or some shit and alice was wearing normal clothes and wasn't all freaky looking, but manson was and he called him a poser.

  • I know im just saying my friend doesnt get that!!

  • Amazing! Thanks!

  • Wow, thanks! We saw him a couple nights later at the Sunshine Inn is Asbury. Thought it was gonna be a girl singer.........

  • HITLER & ROCK?? How can they be discussed together?? FUCK Hitler....he burns in the bowels of Hell. "WTF"?

I saw Alice 3 times in the 70's, and he truly is the KING of SHOCK ROCK!!!!! Great musician, too!!! Saw him again a few times in the 80's..... And still, a couple times in the 90's!! He's Grrrrreat!!! ALICE ROCKS!!!

  • HAHHAHAAH bowels

  • I just saw him tonight he's the fuck KING of SHOWMANSHIP!!!!!!!!!!! and as you said shock rock!

  • this is my las hour as an 18 year old :)

great song from alice cooper, listened to it many times this year, it fits :D

  • Re my idiot comment about ' Clockwork Orange ' being 1972, I apologise and submit; 'twas '71 ! And I should know better too as part of it was filmed just up the road at Leeds Uni ( I think ! at the time ! ) Great comments y'all; I didn't like the Hitler remark tho. As a sucker for happy endings, I wrote to ' Paker - Charlie Parker Moon, MySpace' to say I was embarrassed, he was correct, and we are now close friends! Visit his sites, he's got a wide range of great tastes! Write him, Hi , S !! X X

  • Ciao MyDear Sister!!!!!^_^

  • Great vid!!!!!!

  • 'Clockwork Orange' was 1972; Iggy, as Alice says, was the ONE person the great himself at his peak would not go on AFTER,the 'Hitler' remark is vile. X

  • Clockwork Orange was 1971!!!!

  • yes, HITLER WAS really vile.......I totally agree.

  • does dick wagner play guitar on this song?

  • Dick Wagner wasn't in the picture till a few years after.

    The Players:

    Alice

    Michael Bruce - Guitar

    Glen Buxton - Guitar

    Dennis Dunaway - Bass

    Neal Smith - Drums.

The ONLY line up need to know ;)

  • The original Alice Cooper group is so underlooked, they were all very talented and over looked musicians. Dennis Dunaway has started his own band named after him, you should check them out :D

  • SHOCK ruled in '71: ALICE and 'A CLOCKWORK ORANGE'-------eclipsed only by HITLER'S atrocities of the NAZI period.

  • That's a really horrible thing to say isn't it?

  • yes...HITLER was a really nasty piece of work all round...I've never supported his ideas...EVER. I still maintain HITLER'S sorry legacy puts to shame anything that ALICE COOPER or MARILYN MANSON ever did......the point I am trying to make is, ROCK-n-ROLL is unimportant and trivial in the scheme of things, I am trying to deflate the opinions of many ROCK fans on 'youtube' who regard ROCK as a matter of life or death---it ISN'T.

'CLOCKWORK' filmed winter 70/71, released DEC 71........DEFINATELY

  • Come to my youtube "Rock Legends from the original Alice Cooper band" with Michael Bruce, Neal Smith and Glen Buxton in his last performance. Alice Cooper was a band!
