  • they good friends. met Hogan once in the airport, travelling alone and every bit the common man as he was when he was a young student boy. He's always been one of us. Ric is less even personality, but always of the greatest showmen and a sportsman true and true, hard to surpass. You maybe root for the good guy, but his bad guy made yours shine better.

  • I was never a big fan of Hogan, and always liked Flair more... but I give both of them credit: They were the real deal. Both of those guys were legitimate superstars and drew big houses.

  • damn hogan speaking the truth and putting his ego aside to do i have much more respect for hogan after this than i did before

  • Respect to Hogan and Flair.

  • good sportsmanship... hats off to Hogan

  • flair and arn are best friends. ric and tully not as friendly these days.

  • Thanks for your comments, TheLeroy Moon. Your years in the business give your opinion a lot of credibility.

Personally, I think Flair has a good friendship with Hogan, and Hogan runs a lot with Knobbs. I think they party a lot together, as well as do business. I think he probably just "does business" with most of the folks from the old days (nwa/wcw)

  • Hulk Hogan swallowed his pride by calling Ric Flair the greatest of all-time.

  • after seeing this.. I like how tna now, makes it like hogan and ric flair really hate each other. they wont even be in the same room at autograph sessions

  • seriously flair is the greatest of all time and hogan is just the most popular character just like the rock was the greatest of the attitude era and austin was the most popular character or "superstar" if u will

  • hogan is wrong flair is not hogan is.

  • Hogan sounds very drunk

  • Ric Flair and Hogan were in Charlotte?

Charlotte probably wasn't too happy about that ...

    (please pardon the pun)

  • Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair are the greatest ever in my opinion . Honorable mentions also would be Savage , Bret Hart , and Sting . I love Warrior too , but ionly for his crazy promos and his charisma. Only my opinion though .

  • Flair is the greatest wrestler ever! Hogan just a big name

  • andre the giant was the greates wrestler more straight victorys than anyone

  • not that i think he is the greatest or anything , but I thought Goldberg won more then anyone ?

  • no that was just a steak put on by wcw for promo,s,in 1982 Andres won a huge trophy for winning over 1500 undefeted straight matches

  • Pro wrestling magazine look it up Andres The Giant was given a trophy for his 1000 straight victory

  • Hogan's not the best because he drew more money, no he's the best because everyone knows who he is. I've got friends that (yeah I know what your thinking and I do actually have some friends) hate wrestling and know who hogan is and even what his finisher is but have never even heard of flair - thats the only reason hogan is the best.

  • Hogan = GREATEST OF ALL TIME

  • Im sure Hogan thinks he himself is the best. Flair will tell you that Hogan is better because Hogan drew more money.

  • @marcusp3388 Hogan drew more money than anyone because he did it forever. Nobody ever did it as fast and drew more money in their first 6 years of wrestling than the Rock. If he didnt branch out and do more things the Rock would be the greatest money draw in the history of sports entertainment.

  • @marcusp3388 They almost always say that each other is the best wrestler ever. Hogan says ric was the best wrestler and flair always says hogan is the best because he drew the most money.

  • Classact of Hogan!

Just pure class! Hogan = GOD

  • Ive never thought Hogan was as bad as people made him out to be . i think allot of people were just jealous of him .

  • @turns2gold Honestly its probably a little of both - he most likely has been a dick but that also depends on perspective.

  • I love seeing Flair and Hogan together...the two greatest of all time!

  • Those were some of the truest words ever spoken by Hogan. I respect him for that.

  • Ric Flair was a lot more talented in the ring and on the microphone. However, Hogan had a larger than life personality. And Hogan was a bigger draw that brought in the dollars, PPV buys and TV ratings.

In the end, both wrestlers and iconic and deserve a lot of respect for their contribution to professional wrestling.

  • True Hogan was not at all bad on the microphone though a shade below Slick Ric (for example when on Piper's Pit declaring that he'll face Andre at WM3). And... my favorite Flair / Hogan moment was on the Funeral Parlour where the meet for the first time.

  • true that, they both are indeed "the best"

  • Nice of Hogan to say that. They both have their place in history.

  • Why is Hogan being so complimentary of Flair??? Must be working some kind of angle.

Frankly if your talking about butts in seats, longivity and iconic imagery... Hogan is hands down the best 'wrestler' that ever lived.

Smart fans can go.... o Flair/Steamboat wow *****.... but frankly Hogan's feuds and matches with Savage, Warrior and Andre are far more memorable and iconic.

  • Its the same as in anything, if your talking football every fan has their own idea as to who was the greatest QB in NFL history. In baseball everyone has their own idea of who was the greatest slugger ever. I was one of the biggest little Hulkamaniacs as a wee one and back then even though I grew up in Flair's back yard, passed by his house every day on the school bus, I hated Flair back then cause he was a bad guy. Your right, nobody is a bigger icon than Hogan, Flair will tell ya that too.

  • But I do think that Flair did put on better matches, at least back in the day. The old WWF was kinda hokey, as a kid I loved it. the NWA was more adult oriented and kind of serious I think. You really thought that those guys in the NWA would kill one another if given a guns to do it with back in the day. The WWF was more cartoony and kid oriented, catering to the little kids like I was who ate up Hulkamania. Flair's feuds with Dusty Rhodes and Sting and Steamboat and so many others were awsome.

  • say it like u mean it hogan lol

  • Comment removed

  • The 80's have the best dream matches between federations.

    Road Warriors vs. Demolition

    Hogan vs. Flair

    Sting vs. Warrior

Sure some incarnation of these matches took place, but nothing like it could have been.

  • Hogna put pro wrestling on the map, but Flair was the greatest wrestler and World Champion of all time. It was good to see Hogan finally admit that. These two are the reason I have been a fan since I was 4 years old.

  • You are 100% correct sir. Most people on youtube say Austin is and I sit there and go.....What?

Flair had the best ability, Hogan was the most bankable. Those two made this sport and without them there is no Austin.

  • Don't get me wrong. I'm a HUGE Austin fan and he did an outstanding job of revolutionizing the business, but if it wasn't for Hogan and Flair, there would be no Stone Cold.

  • you two are the greatest wrestlers who ever lived... YOU TWO !!!!!

  • i didnt think hogan would do that

  • Hogan and Flair have actually been friends since 1983, went through a rough period in WCW with Hulk's over the top whipping of David . Hulk has said in multiple interviews that Flair is the best ever.

  • oh right i see thanks for that info

  • No problem

  • no they haven't bret hart even said in his book that they hated each other legit inwcw!

  • I don't doubt that it was true for a period, they were friends prior to that shit in WCW...Flair was the main guy who really brought Hogan into WCW. In recent years though it wouldn't surprise me if they hashed it out. Hogan would be the 1st to admit that he went a little too far into trying to pass off his hollywood persona when he whipped flair's son.

  • Wow... well said!

  • Anybody know how many "WWE" titles flair has won?

  • 2 world titles.

  • For Hogan to say that about Flair is big.

  • Depends on what Your Comparing. Interms of Hogan & Flair. Sure Hogan Drew more by way of putting Behinds in seats And Selling out arena's, But Flair had Better classic matches, and His In ring ability was far superior to Hogans, in terms of what he did in the ring night in and night out! Ratings and Drawing Crowds= Hogan

Classic Matches & In ring ability = Flair

    Charisma=BOTH

GOOD FOR THE WRESTLING BUSINESS= BOTH!

    GOD BLESS BOTH OF THEM!

  • Agreed.

    Classact of Hogan.

  • Flair made the promo the best thing going in wresting. And he wrestled his ass off and was on hell of a professional, unlike Hogan.

  • well i knw what hogan did 4 the bizz, but what did flair do???????

  • If you dont respect what Hogan and Flair did for this biz I got two words for ya.

    SUCK IT!

    Legends 4 ever.

  • Hogan is a 2-faced douchebag. He'll say anything for a dollar.

  • Hogan drawed alot of money no doubt about that but Ric Flair is the greatest of all time you don't know anything about wrestling

  • Flair never drew as much as Hogan if that's what you're trying to say.

    Drawed? Seriously?

  • Comment removed

  • flair must of paid hogan a large sum to go out and tell the fans that hes the greatest wrestler in the world.

  • Hogan did this event for free you cock sucker

  • In reality, Flair is much better friends with Sags, Knobbs, and Hogan than he is with Arn, Tully, and JJ. I have always been a Flair fan and tended to roll my eyes when Hogan showed up on TV but I have to say he's earned my respect the last few years. LIke it or not, the WWF (E) has been the Major Leagues of wrestling for the last 25 years, and Hogan has been a big part of that. Hogan impressed me that night. He flew in at his own expense to "guest referee" Reid Flair's debut match.

  • are you kidding me? thats why flair said in his book that he'd never forgive hogan for whipping david flair with a belt during a match?

  • ever heard of letting somethin go

  • @16times1 I don't know these men personally. However: working broadcast for Hornets games, I frequently saw Flair & Arn side by side in the stands. Saggs, Knobbs & Hogan were nowhere in sight. Both Flair & Arn have lived in the Charlotte since the 80s & sent their kids to the same private school - not so with the others. Lastly, I've worked with Flair twice in my career, & my impression of him was that Saggs & Knobbs aren't the calibur of company Flair would keep, not even for bar-hopping.

  • OK this is flat ridiculous. YOU guys can say all you want. But RIC FLAIR AND HULK HOGAN are friends, Naitch said himself he had no problem personally with hulk. When everyone else praises ric flair u guys talk about how classy they are but if its Hogan then its an issue. C'mon people. Flair and Hogan both contributed the most to wrestling and both should be remembered as such. I agree with crash77burn. Flair greatest wrestler, Hogan greatest entertainer.

  • both hogan and flair were really coo when i met them. i look forward to seein' em' again soon.

  • you're goddamn right Flair is the greatest of all time Hogan!

  • Flair is the greatest wrestler, Hogan is the greatest entertainer. They both drew huge crowds. Flair drew to his ability to work a match while Hogan drew by being an entertainer.

  • Hogan thought he was bigger than the business. Flair WAS the business. Flair put his ego aside for the good of the business. Flair went out of his way to make others look good while Hogan went out of his way to make HOGAN look good. Sure, Hogan made more money but all the money in the world can't buy class. Ric Flair is the epitome of class.

  • well done hogan.ric flair is the greatest wrestler ever

  • It's pleasantly shocking to see that Hogan puts over Flair like that.

Hogan was probably the greatest "sports entertainer" of all time, for which the record would speak for itself.

Flair WAS about the wrestling, the 60-minute Broadway, and all that... And Hogan respects that too.

  • Puhlease... Hogan only respects the almighty dollar. Remember this is the guy who along w/ his butt buddy Eric Bitchoff tried to bury Flair in WCW. The only reason he's jumping on the Flair bandwagon now is because Flair's hot. He's highly regarded. Almost a year later & fans are still talking about his retirement. As I type this I look forward to seeing him induct Steamboat in the HOF & being part of WM XXV. Maybe if Hulk's real nice to Ric, Ric'll talk Vince in letting him be part of WM.

  • Wow...someone is REALLY passionate about good ol' Naitch.

  • I'm just stating facts. Hogan only cares about Hogan. Example, Ventura tried to get a union started & Hogan ratted him out to Vince. It didn't matter that a union would have improved working conditions. Maybe if there was a union, there wouldn't be so many dead wrestlers. Another example, John Graziano is a vegetable thanks to Hogan's son yet Hogan says something to the effect of John must have done something to bring it on himself. Then he & Nick talk about cashing in w/ a reality show.

  • Hogan didnt bury Flair. Bischoff did

  • 100% correct and he did it too WCW

  • I agree with you darkstar 100%

  • It's good to see the two bury the hatchet and become friends...there was some animosity for awhile. I will ALWAYS be a Hulkamanic and know the Hulkster was the most PROLIFIC wrestler ever and made wrestling what it is today...and I will ALWAYS be a Ric Flair fan because Flair is truly the GREATEST wrestler EVER hands down.

  • I think Flair should watch his back before Hogan sticks a knife in it. Hogan doesn't care about Vince and his television? Bullshit! After Ric's huge Wrestlemania sendoff, I'm sure Hogan realizes just how beloved Flair is & how maligned he himself really is. Hogan helped Vince build the WWF while Flair was a WCW mainstay. But in the end it was Flair that Vince made a huge fuss over. It must have killed Hogan to see that happen.

  • He better pay respect, or else Flair would beat the red and yellow shit out of him.

  • amen brother, elbow drop right on hogans bandana, wooooooooo!

  • Oops, my mistake, it's at the 0:52 mark

  • Lol @ the 1:02 mark when Hulkster said he doesn't "give a shit about vince mcmahon and his television" and then Ric Flair raises his water bottle in agreement. Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan are two ICONS in this business!!

    5/5 Thanks for posting.

  • lmao nice catch

  • Hogan has also gone on record by saying that he "would have no problem putting over Stone Cold Steve Austin if the match ever took place."

I'm so sick of these so called "marks" who always bash Hogan. Hogan has "put over" a ton of undeserving wrestlers over the years: Ultimate Warrior, Lex Luger, Bill Goldberg, etc. And for what???

People may bash Hogan for his (lack of) in-ring ability (but his matches in Japan prove otherwise). However, you can't bash Hogan for his love of this business.

  • you r exactly correct. i seen the hogan muta match and he was doing a few insane moves that you would never think hogan can pull off

  • How the mighty has fallen. Now that Linda's about to clean his ass out, He's suddenly willing to put someone over. He must really need that Wrestlemania payday.

  • The fact that hogan said that, Was amazing! he's showing class and respect, and putting his own ego aside.

for the first time in almost a year, I'm proud to call myself a Hulkamaniac!

  • that proves hogan respects others, and that was a classy thing hogan did for flair

  • and he did it for free... He got nothing for the appearance, from what I heard.

  • BTW: I've seen some ovations (or pops) over the years. But I don't think I've ever heard a louder ovation (or pop) than when Hulk Hogan wrestled The Rock at WrestleMania X8. Even if you hate Hulk Hogan, nobody can discount the huge ovation that Hogan got.

Even "Good Old J.R." (who's always bashed Hogan for years) was "amazed" at the ovation that Hogan got.

ALSO: Stone Cold used to "rip" on Hogan. Hogan challenged him to a bout. Then Austin refused.

Who's the real coward? I say Austin.

  • Thanks for posting this footage.

I respect Ric Flair. He has great skills in the ring and on the microphone. But (as many of you already stated) pro wrestling is "sports entertainment" (meaning the outcomes are predetermined). Rabid fans who "rip" on Hogan really don't understand what the bottom line in this business is: Drawing Money.

Some may argue about the so-called "backstage politics" he may play. But NO ONE CAN ARGUE that Hulk Hogan is one the biggest draws of all-time.

    Period.

  • Even if Ric Flair never won a single World Championship, he wrestled for almost 36 years and never had a major wrestling injury. He was also in a plane crash that broke his back and he still came back and wrestled for a couple more DECADES.

  • I think you'll get no argument from any knowledgable fan that Hogan has drawn more money than any wrestler.

Of course the matches are predetermined, but that's not what people mean by "wrestling ability." Flair is from the old school, where a match could go 45 minutes or an hour every night. Talented wrestlers could call the shots in the ring, keeping the audience involved, telling a real story.

And that's what people mean when they say Flair was a better wrestler than Hogan.

  • Oh I agree with you that Flair was a great wrestler. I just think our definition of "wrestler" is different. When I think of pro wrestling, I think of telling a story in the ring. It doesn't matter how many wrestling holds one uses because it's not actually wrestling, it's pretend fighting. So to say that Flair was better than Hogan (or vice versa) is subjective opinion, not something we can watch film on and draw a conclusion. Regardless, good vid! Hogan and Flair are two of the best.

  • That is class of Hogan, but he's wrong. Hogan is the best ever, not Flair. Don't give me any of that "wrestling ability" shit. Wrestling is fake. Popularity and money is real. Hogan wins that battle by a landslide. No disrespect to Flair, he's a legend, but he's not on Hogan's level (or Rock or Austin for that matter).

  • Hogan didn't have that many moves to be considered better than Flair and the reason he had more publicity is because he wrestled for WWF and Flair wrestled for NWA. I'd say it's tied between Flair and The Rock. If you don't watch wrestling and think it's all fake then why are you watching wrestling videos.

  • Hogan was a major draw for the AWA and Japan before he went back to the WWF. Yes, wrestling for the WWF helped Hogan, but Flair wrestled there too (1992) and I remember reading it was a poor year for the company financially. He just doesn't have the mainstream appeal that Hogan and Rock do. I just think the idea that "great wrestler" in a fake sport is determined by wrestling holds is kind of pointless. A great wrestler is someone who can make the fans care and tell a good story in the ring.

  • Hogan vs. The Rock is one of the legendary WM matches, you sanctimonious prick :)

  • Comment removed

  • no it isn't fake they really do get hit! the winners are determined but flair always gave a better match than hulk! you don't understand the business. work ethic does count!

  • naaw, that's just Hogan showing some CLASS AND RESPECT.

    That's sweet.

  • Was it really even up for debate? Hogan on his best day couldn't touch Flair.
