  • I laughed like mad at the dad with the pushchair clapping at Rincewind escaping the mysterious red thing nearly four minutes in.

  • Jamaican accent in a song about Australia?

  • OMG.... this is hilarious :D

  • Poor bastard. They teleported him to Melbourne :o(

  • Well, she SAID he was going to meet his maker.

  • I have to admit that guy looks alot like how they drew Rincewind in the orginal Discworld game, which is also how I always pictured him of course the game was what originally got me into Discworld

  • I just want someone to tackle him at one point

  • Great video - the ending was fantastic! Troy Larkin really is the ideal Rincewind! I hope you make more Discworld-related films in the future.

  • I am favoriting the HELL out of this! I wish I could hire this guy to just run by me every morning on my way to the car. it would make my day.

  • Did he say 'is not'?

  • You guys had WAY too much fun filming this, didn't you? xD

I laughed through the entire thing. Well done!

  • this makes me want to purchase a Rincewind costume and run through New York City fer teh lulz

  • That was a lot of fun. I'd have liked to have been there. I was glad to see that Terry seemed to be enjoying himself as well.

  • Maybe sky didn't have a choice but the only other person fit to fill the curly toed boots is Eric Idle an he's no youngster either

  • Mr. Troy Larkin is just The Best for playing Rincewind =)

  • So awesome! That guy is very brave to run around looking silly for the sake of Discworld love, and I love the guy with the baby watching at 3:50.

  • Beautifully done!

  • Poor, poor Rincewind

  • This guy is great at running comedically.

    A sentence I never thought I'd say.

  • Also I love how if you look at it at the end of it, Terry is rolling with intense laughter and joy. Hahahaa what a thrill this bit must have been for him!

  • If the Discworld ever 'ended' I think Rincewind going 'you bastard' to the author would be a perfect final scene.

  • Gotta love it!

  • Ahaha! And Men at work as a soundtrack - great! :D

  • "him! him!" XD That was so awesome XD

  • Great ending! And good on Terry for having a good sense of humour about it all :-)

  • The guy in this film would have been great in the recent adaptation of Colour of Magic. At least, he looks a lot closer to the Rincewind in my head. I don't have anything against the actor Sky TV chose, but I imagine Rincewind as younger.

  • I agree. Wjo is this guy? Maybe they can hire him for any other movies?

  • @BelovedBitterSea Sky didn't have a choice, david jason funded the prodject and basically got to pick is role. pretty much everyone agrees he was to old to be rincewind

  • @BelovedBitterSea I totally agree! I thought he did an amazing job portraying Rincewind, but it was difficult to get over the visual. I have always pictured Rincewind as a younger, lanky, awkward man.

  • @BelovedBitterSea Yeah, me too. I mean the guy who played him was good, but he was a nearly 70-year-old man playing a guy who was supposed to be around 30 or 40 (as I remember).

  • @FireofSekhmet Yeah my wife and I are huge Disc fans and while we genuinely loved the Sky adaptations, we really felt Rincewind was portrayed as far too old.

  • @BelovedBitterSea and less fat.

  • The ending is priceless!

  • Oh Poor Rincewind, trapped on the RoundWorld!

  • Poor roundworld! Getting stuck with Rincewind.

  • astroboy!

  • Oh dear lol

"You... bastard!" Didnt see that one coming ^^

  • lol wonderful!

  • lmao! That is so funny!

  • So priceless. No one can top this at all!

  • Absolutely priceless xD

  • That was absolutely amazing. This guy is the perfect Rincewind, and Terry's part in it was just precious.

  • Amazing. Why the hell didn't they get Troy Larkin to play Rincewind in the TV movie???

  • I think they should of given Eric Idle a shot. Since he was the voice of the games. And he's grown on many people.

  • Greetings to XXX

Fine video 5* fo it !

  • What was he reading

  • The Last Continent.

  • ....

    "you bastard"

    godlike XDD

  • it was filmed in melbourne (AT LEAST the city shots were)troy larkin is an awesome rincewind

  • How can people not notice him running around like that?

  • This is so funny! Ahaha where was this filmed?

  • And what did he say at the very end? I didn't understand him.

  • its filmed in australia im pretty sure, and he says "you... bastard!" at the very end

  • Ahaha! I love that guy so much <3

  • He does, and it was funny as hell.

  • you bastard!

  • I have two criticisms of this. The roaming around in the city bit was a bit too long. And the video overall was too short. About ten more minutes would be better for a video, though it's suited for the occasion it was meant for.

That said, this was a very amusing piece. I liked the opening and closing scenes.

To the person who was insulting us Discworld and Rincewind fans... 'Bugger off'.

  • It's funny how nobody pays attention to the bewildered Wizzard.

    Where is this filmed?

  • Sorry, someone can tell me the title of the song please?

  • Land Down Under :) It's an Aussie song I believe.

  • "you bastard" lol

  • brilliant :p

  • but it is when nerds like you show up -.-

  • Rincewind's come to Earth!

  • "You bastard!" Lol, Rincewing would say that right enough... Really great movie! ^^

  • the actor for rincewind, troy larkin teaches acting classes and he also teaches at box hill high school (like hes an aid teacher)

  • hm. maybe thats a point of interpretation and your phantasy isn´t it?

maybe i´ve read another book but in my memory he was described as skinny and younger than the other wizards.

    niargh whatever...

he looks like the pictures paul kidby has painted of rincewind so i think thats the reason why he looks what he looks like in this two shortfilms i´ve found.

  • Speaking of which, in The Art of The Discworld book, Pratchett says that Rincewind is one of the characters Paul Kidby get's spot on and that Rincewind in XXXX (the painting is on that page) is 'exactly right'. :-)

  • Wahahahahaha!!!! That was brilliant! Rincewind was PERFECT! While I admire David Jason & his work, I tend to keep remembering it's only a movie because he's so recognisable. This Rincewind, on the other hand, WAS Rincewind. The whole short was extremely well done. I really enjoyed the parent & child applauding Rincewind's escape from the red sticks. Long may you prosper.

  • no more words needed.

you´ve said everything that had to be said.

  • This is hilarious! The bit with the book is classic!

  • Aww! Im seein places in that movie i miss so much, and theres Rincewind! He just makes Melbourne more fantastic than i can imagine!

lol! That film was stunning! Well done!

  • Hahaha that was awesome, Good job Troy

  • yeah it´s brilliant

  • it's him, him! he rocks the globe as well!

  • rincewind rocks the disc!

  • Rincewind... in the modern world? What could be more perfect!!!

    Brilliantly funny, I loved this!!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • wow, the rincewind from this short film is way better than the one in the actual tv movie 'the colour of magic' when it comes out.

i wonder when the convention was held?

did they do this for any other cities, cause the second bit could have been adapted for anywhere.

  • Melborne

  • "the rincewind from this short film is way better than the one in the actual tv movie 'the colour of magic' when it comes out"

good to see someone make a judgment based on well nothing, while this is a cool convention short, it is pretty lame

  • The color of magic was really good.. Though the actor did play rincewind quite good in tv series..

but yeh, if this guy had played him.. it would become just about perfect.

  • This is, without a doubt, the most brilliant Discworld-related film EVER. That moment at the end where he puts the hat on PTerry's head to match him to the picture is PRICELESS.

  • haha that's great

  • I have to wonder how much of a thrill it must have been for Terry to essentially be confronted by his 'actual' character, since the performer to perfectly captured Rincewind. He basically WAS Rincewind in this performance. Everything he does seems like something the Wizzard would do, right down to him feeling self-important and striding out.

  • Snoogams, Snowgum. Well done!

  • Brilliant!!!!(extremely proud of my diseased mind..) :) well done guys, wish i could have been there.

  • Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

  • hehehe... well done Snowgum... funny, original but faithful to Discworld- love it!

  • Cool. I wish I had a Rincewind costume so I could run through the town wearing it. He's my favourite character with the possible exception of the Nac Mac Feegles.

  • I dont actually like the Rincewind books much ( the guards series are the best) but this made me want to read em again =-)

  • This is awsome!

But what does he say to Terry in the end? I didnt understand

  • "You bastard."

  • jajajajajjajaaj, men at work

  • You captured rincewind perfectly

  • Hey! I used to work there! Would've been fun to see Rincewind :)

  • I have to say that Rincewind getting stuck it the red Pole thing is one of the funniest things ever

  • I like the way Rincewind screams at the audience then gulps down some water, screams again then gulps down the whole pitcher.

Rincewind is one of the all one best character in the Discworld series. He's not just a coward, he's a coward-HERO.

  • One of my VERY FAVORITE videos on YouTube. Absolutely brilliant!

  • lmao, men at work, great tune :)

  • A pure, wonderful, great moment ! Thank you so much for this

  • I love the way he walks and turns horrified to the skyscrapers at the very beggining.

  • Wow! Amazing. Rincewind is perfect..."You bastard!" LOL

  • As a huge fan of Terry Pratchett and Discworld, that was brilliant in every way possible. The acting, the editing, everything. Just fantastic. Huge props to Troy Larkin especially who didn't just play Rincewind, he WAS Rincewind. I love it!

  • Yes, of course that's what I say whenever I meet my favorite author. xD

  • Brilliant. Nothing but brilliant.

  • This is sooo funny! I swear I will visit one of your conventions one day!

  • Yes, yes, YES! I love you people, you need hugs. Every single one of you.

And cookies. I give you cookies and hugs. My eyes are watering, I laughed so hard!

  • The ending was a hoot.

  • Great! my eyes are watering because of the camera, but I wouldn't stop watching it.

  • Btw. can I get the song from this video? I really enjoyed it(both video and song)

  • C.A.W.S. - Cool, Awesome, Splendid, Wonderful.

    I don't like this video - I LOVE IT!

  • :D You have speechless here. I'm giggling too much to talk...

  • Great

  • thats brilliant has a flaver off Monty Python and it very funny and the actors in this should be brought on to the silver screen and more off the discworld i think should be!

  • This is what every author fears, dreads, hopes for and delights in, to one day be face to face with one's creation and find out it wasn't all in your head.

  • Excellent! I smiled and laughed the whole time! where has it been filmed? Its soooo great, especialy when he put the hat on terrys head XD

  • It was shot in Melbourne for the Australian Discworld Convention. Glad you liked it!

  • Brilliance!

    Nice work guys!

  • Great movie. It has the spirit of discword

  • That was an amazing payoff. Wow...

  • This video definitely has rocks in. :) Bless T. Pratchett - "It's him!" As for Troy Larkin, he's everything I've ever imagined Rincewind would be and even more manic. </:)}

  • definetly the real rincewind will be like him!

i love terry pratchett! i love discworld, i enjoy watching the places that rincewind pass. this film is really cool!

  • Poor silly Rincewind.

  • "You bastard."

    Love it :D

  • Excellent.

  • Absolutely fantastic, best performance of Rincewind so far.

I find it awesome on that Pratchett finds to spend so much time with the fans, you would think someone with his schedule wouldn't be able to do so. Still for some reason he knows to pull it off, the guy is so great with the fan community, each time you meet him is a fantastic experience that is never the same.

  • Amazing! I love Rincewind, he's awesome! =D

  • Fantastic! These two little films are great. Thought whoever played rincewind got the characterisation perfect and the ending was blooming brilliant! Classic.

  • Well done! I nearly laughed my self to death, very funny!

  • Not a bad production. John Jenkins was and excellent captain. Very funny actor.

  • Very nice... the end rocks :)

  • Exceptional!

I went to the first Australian Discworld Convention and got to see this opening ceremony first hand. It was awesome!!!! I was immensely awed (ergo, speechless and incredibly clumsy) by Terry Pratchett's presence, but I still got to have a great time and interract with other Pratchett fans! Tash, you should've been in Melbourne to do this with me!

PS. You know what T. Pratchett says about four exclamation marks.... ;)

  • Brilliant!

The world needs more Discworld films.
