  • joseph smith is a prophat of god and 2nd 2 the jehovah

  • @BryceisBibleMan That is absolutely incorrect and you know it.

  • @BryceisBibleMan 2 me he is

  • Praise to the Man, who communed with Jehovah. Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer.

  • It brings tears to my eyes to know of this man's sacrifice. No matter what work progresses against the works and revelations of Smith, the church is true... You may testify there are no prophets, that Joseph Smith was a fraud, and ill-tempered fiendish liar, you may even be as bold enough to say that Jesus Christ never suffered in Gethsemane, but you cannot deny the miracles that have happened and will go on to happen... Until the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.

  • the same 4 me

  • The British behemoth » Yet it was Oxford that published Barlow's book, Mormons and the Bible: The Place of the Latter-day Saints in American Religion , as its first foray into LDS history. Next the press picked up Terryl Givens' The Viper on the Hearth: Mormons, Myths, and the Construction of Heresy . Both books received national acclaim and brisk sales, which gave Oxford confidence that its Mormon gamble paid off.

  • This man is the prophet of the restoration!!

  • Why is there so much hate for this man? Why does he bother so many people that they take the time to write on this web site? I am not sure about him, but I do know that if there is such hatred, where is it coming from? And there is so much love for this man as well. Where is that coming from? The bible says the fruits of the spirit are love. Did he show love? Did he sacrifice himself for others? What is his crime? I really need to know. I am an investigator.

  • I just wanted to take a minute to respond. It sounds like you are familiar with the story of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, etc. When the angel Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith, he told him that his name would be had for good and evil all over the world. We see that happening more and more. Why? Because Joseph Smith did amazing things and made bold claims--for example, he claimed to be a prophet and restore the Church of Christ to the earth.

  • I appreciate your response but didn't get the last part about where to find out more. Please resend if possible. thank you.

  • If you want to know more about the prophet Joseph Smith, there is a DVD series by Truman Madsen that is awesome. He also has books about him.

    Do you have specific questions?

  • @lds9999 what is this tv series?

  • Attention mormons!! GET out of your fake so called church while there is time!!! Repent and believe i the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved!! He's coming again!!!

  • Have you read the Book of Mormon? How could it be fake? Would Satan write and praise the Lord Jesus Christ? And how could any man write such a masterpiece that fills in all of the blanks in the Holy Bible (King James Version). It's like the sequel, or the piece of the puzzle that makes it all work. I am not a Mormon, but I honestly cannot see how this book could be anything but divinely inspired. If it is true, I don't want to be left out. Would you?

  • Why do you think the Mormons don't believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and why do you think they don't believe He is coming again? I have read half of The Book of Mormon and ALL I HEAR ABOUT is the Lord, the Messiah, the Atonement, The saving of His people in the "last day". I don't understand why that is even a question that you would ask? Am I missing something? I really do want to know! I don't want to be caught off guard when our Savior comes to take His people to heaven with him.

  • @5va Yes He is! "And behold, and lo, I come quickly to judgment, to convince all of their ungodly deeds which they have committed against me, as it is written of me in the volume of the book. " -Jesus Christ by revelation through the Prophet Joseph Smith

  • "Thus ends Mormonism" or not...

  • Joseph Smith fired back. Smith: "I am very much resigned to my lot." So why shoot back? This man was nothing more than a charismatice charlatan. One of the worst Americans to have ever lived.

  • After his brother Hyrum had been shot and killed, Joseph fired 3 shots. Joseph knew that the mob was going to kill him, but had hopes of protecting his brethren in the room. After the shots, he headed to the window where he was shot and killed. By doing so, the lives of the others in the room were spared.

  • Of course none of that information will matter to you. Weren't you the one who said, "He deserved the end he got."

It's hard to have a logical discussion with somebody that condones cold-blooded murder.

  • I do not condone murder...I said Smith Deserved it. I would never have killed nor asked anyone to do it. However, I am glad he is dead and dead forever, and sad that he was ever born. Would I rather he came to his senses and worked to undo what he had done? Yes, of course. But, this evil man sought a terrible influence over his fellow man by declaring himself a prophet with his pathetic fairy tales. GOOD RIDDANCE! He was a charlatan and a fraud (Either that or a crazy person).

  • "I would never have killed nor asked anyone to do it. However, I am glad he is dead"

You don't want blood on your hands, but you are happy that it was done. In other words, you "condone" it. It'd be worth looking up the definition of the word because your description fits it to a T.

  • You're reaching here....What I mean is I have no pity for that vile man called Joseph Smith. In fact, I think the world is far better off to be rid of him. It's too bad he ever lived at all.

  • I'm not making any stretch here. Your numerous comments point to the same fact about your feelings of murder of people you don't like.

It is a great thing that Joseph Smith lived, that God and Jesus Christ appeared to Him, called him to be a prophet, bring forth the Book of Mormon, and restore the Church of Christ as a humble servant of Christ. I and millions of others are ever grateful for the life of Joseph Smith. He lived and died with courage!

  • You sound like you hate him as much as the devil would hate the Christ. I find that a little odd since you have never met the man.

  • LOL. This whole video thread is crazy! Makes me chuckle. Lighten up people. The guy died a century ago.

(llliknight, I hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you're having a tough time. Cheers!)

  • Illiknight-

You sound exactly like the Jews in Christ's day who delighted in his death.

And like all those who ridiculed and killed the prophets of God in ancient times.

You have been deceived, my friend.

  • AMEN TO THAT STATEMENT. THAT IS EXACTLY WHO HE/she SOUNDS LIKE! HATRED COMES FROM THE DEVIL. THE DEVIL HATES RIGHTEOUSNESS. He/SHE IS THE MOST CONVINCING PROOF OF JOSEPH SMITH'S CLAIMS THAT I HAVE COME ACROSS YET! THANK YOU, WHOEVER YOU ARE.

  • Illknight,

What a wretched little person you are. You don't condone murder but you are think Smith deserved it and are glad of it.

So you think the death penatly is valid for people you disagree with? What a sick little world you live in.

I most certainly hope you do not presume to call yourself a Christian for you do not deserve the title and you blaspheme the name of Christ by your very thought and words.

  • I would hardly say "Good Riddence" when his church is now 15 million and growing, worldwide! His "fairy tale" faith was tested comparably to that of Job, and he still praised his God. Jesus quotes a text whereby we can determine a prophet from a fake... "By their fruits ye shall know them..". God tells us His church has the Spirit of Prophecy. (Revelation) His peopole have always been mocked and tortured. Why should Joseph Smith be any different from ALL OF GOD'S PROPHETS?.

  • @Illiknight You sound like one of the Pharisees trying to justify the Crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ. "Did I kill him? NO! But he obviously deserved it! Claiming to be the Son of God! What a pathetic fairytale! That charlatan!" Shows you that Satan works the same in all ages against the works of God.

  • people like you should get there @ss kicked! hitler would be proud of you for thinking he deserved to be killed

  • he was a good man and a prophet and was killed 4 it

  • Why do you say that? Why is he so horrible? Why do you hate him? Shooting back, as far as I am concerned, would almost be a "reflex" in our defense mechanisms of survival. If that is your only reason, I have no more questions. If not, I'd like to hear about it.

  • He is and was a prophet of God. And he restored the true Church once again on the earth for this last day!

  • Do you wonder if Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God? Look around you and see prophesy being fulfilled. Faithful Latter-day Saints have looked and now invite family, friends, and near neighbors to embrace the joy of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Why do they only show their feet during the shooting? Why don't they show what happened in the room? What was Joseph Smith doing when they came in the jail cell? Did this gentle man of God fight back?

  • See the other comments.

  • Let me just blow a big hole in the John Taylor being under the bed theory:

"and while Brother Joseph was firing the pistol, I STOOD CLOSE BEHIND HIM. As soon as he had discharged it he stepped back, and I immediately took his place next to the door, while he occupied the one I had done while he was shooting."

  • @dfwsunking And then John Taylor was SHOT FOUR TWICE, collapsed to teh floor and DRAGGED himself UNDER THE BED.

  • The governor was right, explained Brian Q. Cannon, a BYU history professor speaking at the Mormon History Association conference May 22 on "Long Shall His Blood ... Stain Illinois: Carthage Jail in Mormon Memory." Carthage Jail became a sacred memorial for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

  • "Within a few years of the martyrdom, Gov. Thomas Ford recognized that the events that unfolded in Carthage might transform a common county jail into sacred space ... that Nauvoo and the Carthage Jail may become holy and venerable names, places of classic interest like Jerusalem."

  • This is what she wrote:

Many were the blessings we had received in the house of the Lord, which has caused us joy and comfort in the midst of all our sorrows and enabled us to have faith in God, knowing He would guide us and sustain us in the unknown journey that lay before us

  • "God is my friend," wrote Joseph Smith to his wife in 1832.

  • 164 years ago the Prophet Joseph Smith was martyred. Newspaper Headlines at the time screamed: "Thus ENDS Mormonism."

  • Why do Mormons always approach people with their faith?

  • "Why do Mormons always approach people with their faith? "

    I wish we always did!

    True happiness should be shared!

  • THIS GOSPEL IS INDEED TRUE!!!

  • I did not go to see their mutilated bodies. I had no wish to look into their grave; I knew they were not there, and the words of Brother Joseph began to come back to me, "I could do so much more for my friends if I were on the other side of the veil." These words, "my friends"--oh, how glad that he was my friend.

    From my great-great-great grandfather's autobiography.

  • @curbsidehighrocks This is AWESOME!

  • After returning to Macedonia I saw no more of Brothers Joseph and Hyrum, but learned early on June 28th of their assassination. To attempt to delineate the feelings of woe and unutterable sorrow that swelled every heart too full for tears, I need not attempt. I stood up, dazed with grief, could groan but could not weep. The fountain of tears was dry! "Oh God! what will thy orphan church and people now do!" was the only feeling or thought, that now burst out in groans.

  • i dont' know much about mormon-sim(?)

do they believe this 14 year old boy found a golden tablet or something thats what i heard.

wasnt his mum crazy and he illiterate? how could he write that book? i dont understand how u can believe it over the bible which was written by many people? im not trying to be nasty heere i just need to understand

  • We believe that in 1820, a 14-year-old young man named Joseph Smith prayed to God to know which religion he should join. That day, he had a vision of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. They told him not to join any of the religions, but that they had an important work for him to do.

A few years later, he was led to an record (yes, on gold plates) of prophets in the ancient Americas. He translated this by the gift and power of God and it is known as the Book of Mormon.

  • Joseph Smith's mother was not "crazy". I'm not sure where you heard that but I've never heard anything like that.

Joseph Smith had a 3rd grade education. That's exactly the point--there was NO way that Joseph Smith could have written a sophisticated book like the Book of Mormon. Instead through the gift of God, he TRANSLATED an ancient record.

  • Joe had a formal 3rd grade education, but both his parents were school teachers and they certainly taught their children outside of the classroom. He was naturally gifted in storytelling as well as recollection of distilled 19th century protestantism which he invested much time in learning.

He was _NOT_ the ignorant hayseed you present.

I'd also argue that you should read the 1830 version of the BOM to get a more accurate picture of asserted sophistication.

  • I've read the 1830 version and do not see your point.

When you look at the evidence, it just doesn't make sense to believe that one man, an uneducated man no less, could have written the Book of Mormon in that short space of time. There are significant and complex textual evidences (like chiasmus) that point to an ancient origin.

  • U only choose not 2see my point.

Muhammad was a functional illiterate when he received the 'revelations' from Alah which were compiled into the Quran. Does his illiteracy suggest that those words came from Alah?

Short space of time? He had years to either come up with the plot, characters & thematic elements either by himself or with educated people like Rigdon or Cowdery.

Any chiasmus can be attributed to Joe's educational basis in the bible, and it's not an exclusively 'hebraic' style.

  • You are right he could have made it all up. He could be the biggest con in American history. BUT he could also be a prophet of God! The Book of Mormon could be just a story or it could be ancient scripture revealed to us in the last days as a "fruit" of Joseph Smith and the Restoration of God's church. Both Mormons and Anti-Mormons have compelling arguments. That is why I decided to read the Book of Mormon, and then ask God if is true. IT IS TRUE. Read it, Pray with faith, God will tell you.

  • How about you just do as almost every Mormon has done and read some of the book for yourself (with faith in Christ, believing that it is possible for this to be true), Think about what you have read, and when you are ready to pray and feel ready to receive an answer one way or the other, pray and ask God. That is what MOST of us have done. IT IS TRUE. ITS A MIRACLE. Would you talk to just one of you children and ignore the rest? No you wouldn't and neither does God. He still speaks today.

  • @beeblequix Read the man's private journals. There is such a LEAP between the BoM and D&C wand his own writing and spelling. He spelled "until"like unttill for example. And claiming a role as school teacher back then is not like today. There was no schooling required. You only had to be able to get someone to hire you.

  • We believe that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and goes hand-in-hand with the Bible. It doesn't replace it at all. Instead, the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ.

Does that answer your questions? Have you ever visited mormon*org?

  • Anyone who state Joseph Smith was con man does not know what they are talking about.

  • Which video is this taken from?

  • Joseph smith the con man. You guys really believe this?

  • Why do you believe he's a "con man"?

Have you ever read the Book of Mormon in its entirety or do you prefer second-hand sources?

  • One side of my family are actually all mormons. I have been to the church a few times...and I really can't believe what joseph smith said was the truth. I just can't believe a 14 year old who saw Jesus out in the woods. It's just too easy to make this up. By the way can I see the golden plates? I don't have a problem with mormons. i have met quite a few but I just don't understand how they buy into this.

  • Are you Christian?

  • No...i'm not really sure what i am. I just don't like religion in general.

  • my point exactly. I have read listened to on audio books just over half (twice, however), I don't want to miss a thing. It is fascinating. I am fascinated with what and why everything in the Old Testament happened and what it's consistant symbolism is all about. It totally explains it to me in The Book of Mormon. I get so excitiedl Questions I've had for years have been divinley answered and when the time comes, the rest will be given to us as well!

  • Did you ever think to ask if Jesus Christ is our savior? If he is there, don't you think he would respond to you? And if he really exists, and the holy ghost exists, then wouldn't he tell you if Joseph Smith was a prophet?

And last question. Why not? Why COULDNT Joseph smith see god? Is it restricted or something, to where nobody can see him? I know these doubts are in your mind, because it seems new and different, but I promise you if you seek to understand, you will know the truth.

  • the video left out the fact that Joseph Smith and his colleagues had guns as well. He was martyred in a gunfight, not a one-sided execution.

  • This point has been discussed over and over on this video and other related videos. A mob of 200 stormed the building. After they began firing in the room and shot and killed Joseph's brother, Hyrum, Joseph fired back three shots in an attempt to scare off the group.

Do you really think three shots makes this a "gunfight"? Please.

  • Amusing historical revisionism. Joe was most certainly not a martyr of any kind. A flim-flam man definitely.

  • loor al profeta

  • lds9999, Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put in to putting these videos and comments up. I really appreciate you soooo much!

  • Is this a joke? It can't be real.

  • Well of course it is real.

  • liked the video, keep them coming

  • Greater love hath no man than this, thiat a man lay down his life for his friends."

  • he ran away he laid no life for anyone he tried to save his own skin and failed miserably. Look at the stories of the saints when it came time for death. they hung still unto Jesus Christ and died professiong and believing in the one true God!

  • He is not even close to jesus because he is man. But he risked his life because he loved christ! He couldn't deny the truth and why wouldn't God talk more. he is god and nobody can say when no more can be said! He knows when more needs to be given and the reason why he hasn't given more yet because people haven't even accepted the wisdom he was already given us- The book of Mormon and all of the bible. they world hand in hand testifying that Jesus is the Christ.

  • I went to carthridge just month ago it was amazing.. When I sat in that room and saw the window joseph smith fell out of I felt the spirt so strong. And also when they played the tape and I herd president taylor sing this.

  • a 150 years from now, I hope people make a movie about me too.

  • I ask this question to my aunt about the LDS church all of the time so now I will ask you.... If the Heavenly Father gave us Jesus, Why would we need Joseph Smith? The Lord is the only one who is going to jugde the believers no one else! I think the LDS church is a great exsample on how a church should be run, ( they take care of each other and love and know how to spread their messege) but I think having a book outside of the Bible and putting a man very close to Jesus is not right.

  • The Lord has always called prophets. Even after Christ left, He had called apostles to help lead His disciples. Is it surprising then that God would call prophets and apostles to continue to lead His people? Why is it that people have no problem understanding the role of Peter and Paul, but have such difficulty with apostles today?

Also, we do not put Joseph Smith "very close to Jesus." We consider Joseph Smith, just as we do Moses and the other prophets of old who taught of Jesus.

  • "Also, we do not put Joseph Smith "very close to Jesus." We consider Joseph Smith, just as we do Moses and the other prophets of old who taught of Jesus. "

as a fellow Mormon, I second this witness!

  • Okay lds 9999, so you then are either a liar or truth means nothing to you!

  • Such a comment is worth little and is quite childish to be honest. It's like in grade school when you'd say, "Have you told your parents yet that you're dumb?" No matter what the person answers, they are trapped.

    Truth means everything to me.

  • "Okay lds 9999, so you then are either a liar or truth means nothing to you! "

actually I find LDS9999 truthful and honest to a fault. Clearly YOU are the one in error!

  • JOseph Smith is aprophet of GOd , that is what it counts , he broght the everlasting gospel back to earth

  • That would be a false statement, because that implies that the gospel left. God's word has stood the test of time no matter how many "churches" have tried to add/remove/modify/pervert it.

  • But if he was fighting back it was not his choice to die, it was a result of his failure to defend himself.

None of the apostles or martyrs of the NT every fought back or killed anyone, in fact they prayed for their persecutors and preached the gospel all the more.

  • He chose death rather than renouncing his faith. Had he renounced his faith, left the state, disbanded the Church--he would have lived. There was absolutely a choice.

How many apostles' death do we actually have documentation in the Bible about? The vast majority has been passed down through other texts--how we do if they are the "full" story or the faith-promoting version? I don't know, but certainly no one else alive does with certainty either.

  • You don't know your own faith or the true history of Nauvoo or Carthage.

Why don't you look at something other than Mormon spin?

  • I do know my own faith and the history of Nauvoo and Carthage. I've read extensively on both--both Mormon and non=Mormon historians.

Please don't assume what I do or do not know, particularly about my faith.

  • so tell us the "true" history lets hear it hahaha

  • FAIRLDSdotORG

    for the truth

  • "None of the apostles or martyrs of the NT every fought back or killed anyone"

so Peter NEVER cut off the ear of anyone in defense?

  • 1 of 2

Yes Peter did cut the off the ear of a temple guard in the garden of Gethsemane but what was the Lord's response to this as He healed the guard?

Jesus warned his followers that some would be killed for their faith in Him; I don't remember Him ever suggesting that it would be honourable to try and take some of them out first in order to protect your friends!

If Joseph Smith is a true prophet we should be able to tell from his words:

  • "By their fruits ye shall know them." If you do see the fruits of the Book of Mormon and the other teachings of Joseph Smith, you can come to know that he is a prophet of God. We don't ask people to take our word for it--we invite all to pray and ask God if it is true.

  • I would say they do try to hide it, or rather not say the entire truth. I know the tour guides at the jail say the only defense they had were their walking sticks.

I think it dramatically changes the view of Joseph Smith if it is included in the videos and the story. It makes him into a soldier (not necessarily that he killed these people wrongly, in self-defense) but definitely not a martyr.

  • Most people who claim that the tour guides at the jail say one thing or the other have actually never been there, but instead have watched a video here on Youtube of Bill McKeever saying that. I don't know if you have been there personally or not, but I'm always curious when people repeat that fact.

A soldier? 3 bullets vs. a mob of dozens, or hundreds, of men? I'm sure at that point Joseph knew his fate--defending his brethren was an honorable thing.

  • Everyone will have different defitions, but when I typed martyr into Google, these were the definitions I got:

*One who takes action according to his religious beliefs accepting that he will be killed by others

*One who is put to death for his religion

*One who sacrifices his life, his station, or what is of great value to him, for the sake of principle

*Someone who chooses death rather than to renounce his faith.

  • (continued)

*One who bears witness of the truth, and suffers death in the" cause of Christ (Acts 22:20; Rev. 2:13; 17:6).

    Etc, etc.

In my opinion, Joseph Smith meets each and every one of those definitions of a martyr.

  • So why does the church try so hard to hide this fact?

  • I don't think the Church tries to hide anything about it. True that it's not often depicted in videos, but I don't think it plays any major role in the story.

  • lds9999,

How many pro-LDS films that you've seen show Joseph firing shots back? How many show them being slaughtered without any indication of (justifiable) self preservation? Truly, this would be a method to determine whether or not the Church (whether leadership or well-meaning members) try to hide those facts.

  • As I responded to your comment above, I don't think it is a major part of the story. 3 shots vs. 200 armed men.

If you want to think the Church is trying to hide it, that's your prerogative. However, remember that John Taylor is the only source of that quote. If the Church was REALLY trying to hide this fact, they could have succeeded in doing that 150+ years ago.

  • Wow, Joseph Smith shot people with a gun? That suprises me. Why? Because the video doesn't seem to show this. My question is...Why not?

  • See my replies to similar comments below.

  • HAHA its funny how u paint such a bright picture of joseph, make a movie, and believe he is a prophet. very emotional video but the truth is he aint what u guys make him out to be. how do i know this?..EVIDENCE.

..AHH im wasting my time.. go on keep believing he is a prophet.

    tata

  • Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I've probably seen just about any and all "evidence" that critics normally throw out about Joseph--it has not weakened my confidence and faith in this man. Just as Moses of old, he was called to be an instrument in the Lord's hands and his work has helped millions increase their relationship with God the Eternal Father and His Son Jesus Christ.

  • John Taylor testified that there was a smuggled pistol in the jail, which JS Jr fired and hit 3 people and 2 of them died. It is also found in A Comprehensive History of the Church.

  • After the mob began firing in the room, Hyrum was struck multiple times, including in the face. Hyrum died. At that point, to protect his brethren, Joseph did fire.

  • Something I've noticed in church movies: does anyone know why they're wearing the wedding rings on their right hands?

  • Joseph always wore his ring on his right hand. It's the same ring he used as an example of "one eternal round" in the KFD.

  • Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah.

Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer....

Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain....

  • I am a Muslim, and I respect Mormons greatly. I find Mormon beliefs very interesting as I have read about Joseph Smith.

  • Joseph Smith was truely the greatest man ever on this earth. We will have to pass his judgement before entering god's presence. It is not true that he shot three men and they died shortly thereafter.

  • other than the fact that it is true...

  • Amen Weasel.

After Hyrum was shot in the face Joseph pulled out Cyrus Wheelock's 6 shot revolver, opened the door slightly and pulled the trigger 6 times. Only 3 of the rounds fired. John Taylor reported that 3 men were struck and 2 died.

    Hammy,

I've no problem with you being proud of your faith but it's best to do it without stunning ignorance of historical fact. Why would President John Taylor, a 1st hand witness, lie about it? Google is your friend. goto: FARMS & read up...

  • That's what John Taylor reported.

Does this change the story for me? No. After the murder of his brother, I believe Joseph fired back in an attempt to scare off the mob to save the lives of his other friends, including John Taylor.

Honestly, I don't consider that a "gun fight"--200 armed men vs. 3 shots.

I also find it strange that you're responding to comments that are 10 months old. "Hammy"'s account appears to have been closed during that passage of time....

  • Ok, I read your replys to the whole gun thing. But you still didn't answer my first and only question....why don't they show this historical incident in the video?

  • I didn't make the movie, so I can only speculate.

A minor part of the story. Does the movie capture every detail of the story perfectly? Perhaps not, just as most movies do not.

  • "A minor part of the story?... Does the movie capture every detail... Perhaps not? as most movies do not...?"

Guy, this isn't Terminator 5 we're talking about; your group is giving an historical reinactment of the events which happened to Joseph Smith. Someone [in his own way] who changed the lives of millions of people. Iv'e been to Palmyra, i've walked through the cabin of Joseph Smith, I've walked the grounds of cumorah. I read the BoM. Iv'e givin this much more thought than most people.

  • A lot isn't show partially due to the fact that Mormons don't like violent movies. It doesn't show the Grey's (guards of the jail) firing guns while intentionally not load ammunition. It doesn't show Hyrum getting shot first and than John Taylor getting hit twice (his watch saved his life). It does not show Joseph Smith shooting back with a pistol. It does not show Joseph getting shot through the window and than getting shot four times in the chest on the ground.

  • "Why would President John Taylor, a 1st hand witness, lie about it?"

President John Taylor was NOT a witness to that. He was forced under a bed during these events. He ONLY repeated as he states what he was told. He and others later learned they were told WRONG.

  • @beeblequix Actually he shot it once. The gun was a "pepperbox", it did not have one barrel but fired all six rounds at once. Only three went off.

  • Whenever we have hard times, it's important to remember that Brother Joseph's life was more difficult than most. I know that he was a prophet of God and ushered in the last dispensation among the children of men. Look what your fruits have wrought, illustrious Joseph, throughout the world.

  • Want to read about true martyr's and what they stood for? Read the Book of Martyr's.

  • I luv this hymn

  • I am grateful that the gospel, the Church of Jesus Christ was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith.

I know that he is prophet of God. And its true the work will go forth till its covered this whole earth.

  • "No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing: persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, amries may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of god will goforth boldl. nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded every ear, till the purposes of god shall be accomplished, and the great Jehovah shall say the work is done." This is so true. The early saints went through and fought all of this.

  • This is a nice and great story and I truelly beleive it.

  • Love this hymn.
