Uhm, swords? what the hell? Also, the first days of the Uprising went well, you can find quotes @ Davies' "Uprising '44" about nazi administration in Warsaw being shocked when the fights started. Stopped watching after this bullshit, appreciate the effort, but many lies or mistakes here.
The success of the uprising was dependent on the arrival of the Russians . When the communists failed to intervene then tragedy was inevitable. The uprising was undertaken for political rather than military ends. The communists were confident of victory by August 1944. What the communists were hoping for was allied failure . the greater the better. As was clear from the nazi soviet pact they had hoped for a nazi victory in Europe . A policy reluctantly abandoned when Hitler invaded Russia .
In June 1945 in Moscow started Trial of the Sixteen of 16 leaders of the Polish Underground State arested by NKVD. Soviets accused Them of "collaboration with Nazi Germany". Veterans of antinazi resistance created "Cursed soldiers" mouvement continued the struggle against the pro-Soviet government of Poland well into the 1950s. The last cursed soldier Józef Franczak was killed in an ambush with pistol in his hand as late as 1963, almost 20 years after the Soviet take-over of Poland.
Poles were never fighting with sticks and swords, it's a myth.
also, Brits, Allies and Russians were sitting on their asses watching Poles dying during uprising - they did nothing to help as they (USA and United Kingdom) agreed for Poland to be under Soviet regime (in Tehran). Traitors in one word.
@rampartmark What awful rubbish you spout .Why dont you LOOK AT A MAP .You would then see that there was absolutely nothing the allies other than Russia could do .
@dregsta I have never said that the Poles weren't let down by the allies . But I do say that there was nothing that could be done to help them during the Warsaw uprising.
@daltonagre How can You judge whole that monstrous sacrifice and effort of Polish citizens just as a failure? The Uprising was responsible for adding its little something in keepeng up the spirit of a nation. Of course, thanks to their "galant" allies, they have lost their independence for 50 years anyway. But The Uprising shows that the Poles could fight for their cause.
@daltonagre lol you live in Brazil and what you can know about uprising? Are you member of Warsaw Uprising, are you survival ? what can you know about us politic int thats yers
@daltonagre "Peace is a precious and a desirable thing. Our generation, bloodied in wars, certainly deserves peace. But peace, like almost all things of this world, has its price, a high but a measurable one. We in Poland do not know the concept of peace at any price. There is only one thing in the lives of men, nations and countries that is without price. That thing is honor."Jozef Beck, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs-May 5, 1939, less than 4 months before Hitler's military attack on Poland

Nearly 70 years ago, in a small eastern European city, an oppressed and occupied people were under siege, living under atrocious and brutal conditions, lacking food, medicine, electricity, water, and slowly being strangled in the hope they would just disappear.
