  • Quickman and wily's castles number 4 I thought were the only real challenges in this game. To this day I still get past Gutsman's stage in the first game. It's the only one (1-6) That i still cant beat...:P

  • What do you not like about the first Mega Man besides the point system? Personally, I thought the original Mega Man was really good. I also noticed that you nit pick a bit, you often consider annoying enemies/levels to be bad, just because you do not like something does not mean it is bad.

  • I like your old style of reviews better.

  • Kwing I would like to thank you for the great reviews, because of you I use some wii points that I got for my birthday on this and I love it!

  • You DO suck at this game, sorry

  • @Elgesen no...he doesnt and make it better!

  • Lol I just used item 2 and also I popped this in for the first time in about a year and beat quick mans stage on my first life

  • I used weapon 2 for the dissapearing blocks in Heat Mans stage

  • You forgot to mention, that when going up against Metal Man in the boss rush ,you can 1 shot kill him with his OWN weapon

  • Quickmans level for the win. Differentiates experts and great players. And they give you an out with flashman's power.

  • MegaMan II is the best game in the Classic Series without comparison. I didn't mind the point system in the original just because it's arbitrary. I never paid any attention to it.

I actually had the MegaMan 2 (Worlds of Power) novel that I got from a book fair early in grade school. It revealed the proper order of the bosses. He got a lot of use out of the Metal Cutter in that book...

  • 24 second intro? seriously?

  • You forgot to mention why this game is considered the best of the series-The weapons, you said metal man's, but practically EVERY weapon had another version in another game. Metal Man's Weapon has a spin off, Heat Man's Weapon was the base for the Mega Buster charge in MegaMan 4, The Flash Stopper had a lot of spinoffs, ect...

  • @supernova133

You need some memorization in Quick Man stage and Wily´s Castle, but is not that hard since you use only 3 buttons.

  • atleaston mega man powered up, they made it more forgiving

  • good call with the MvC mega man theme!

  • hey kwing you think you can help me out with the boss order for this game? please

  • Lasers were easy to dodge and heat man i just used item 2

  • What!?!? Quickman stage is easy, just use flashman's ability. And it took me less than 10 minutes to beat Flameman stage. This game was easy. But I had issues with the suspended play on the wii, it would start over from the beginning. Nice review.

  • why were the points so bad you didnt have to focus on the points system and it didn't change the game

  • @kNIGHTWING01 When you say no excuse for playing a Megaman game do you mean the original series or ANY one. I have'nt played the original series period. But I have played Battle Network,Starforce, and Zero.

  • should i get this game or mm1 or sm3

  • @ultimatecollector1 Megaman 2, it's the best one in my opinion, a perfect balance between accessible and challenging

  • I can get through Heat Man's stage and Quick Man's stage on one attempt every time.

  • this or castlevania ?

  • @vennom59 MM2 is more fun Castlevania is more challenging, up you which style of game you like more

  • oh cmon... you just MAKE that quick man stage look hard! Its realy easy, you just TRIED to make it look hard!!!

  • "If you haven't played Mega Man yet, shame on you." That's the entire review right there.

  • hey kwing. i just got megaman 1-8 for my B-day. ive never played a megaman platformer before. which game should i try first? pleeeeeees respond

  • Hehe, i remember when i was a kid, Heatman and Quickman were my favorite stages from the day i bought the game (after saving up newspaper route money for weeks!) Also i'd pick up the extra life at 4:33 for extra kicks... uh, about half the time :}

6:30 now THAT Is cheating! cheap shot... :/ almost as bad as using the "time stopper" in the (awesome!!) lasers sequence in Quickman's stage. Maybe they should have added "tourist mode" difficulty setting? :]

btw 0:12 it's "jamming" not "jaming"

  • You were exagerating when you said the disapearing blocks on heatmans stage left you there for hours. And the the reason that your dying alot at heatman and quickmans stages, isbecause of your lack of skill and timing.

  • 8/10?!

    Heresy.

MM2 is the greatest game ever!

  • Heat Man's disappearing blocks are genuinely tough, but Quick Man's stage is a cinch once you memorize the pattern.

  • You can use flash man weapon in the quick man stage, you moron!

  • Everyone has their own name for the D-Pad.

There's Directional Buttons, Digital Pad, D-Pad, Control Pad, but you call it Control Cross? That sounds like an old NES game.

  • freeze time in quick man stage to get pass the lasers.

  • This game is insane!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Also, it is available for iPod Touch...

  • The gimmick of quick mans stage is to be well....QUICK!

  • the memory card generation gamers dont know the meaning of HARD!

  • This captures a lot of the stuff I'd say in a review, but there's other key aspects missing that made the game superior to most Mega Man games to come even by today's standards. Some parts of the review felt more like a walkthrough (spent a lot of time in Bubbleman's stage, explaining minor details that are obvious, the spikes anyway) and felt a little unnecessary. The buster isn't useless, I've beaten the game using ONLY that, except for the very end where you need the Bubble Lead. Good stuff.

  • Megaman 1 may be hard as hell. But it is soooo rewarding once you beat it. It took me hours to beat iceman and fireman's levels, but when i did finally beat it in the wee hours of the morning , i felt so badass. That is what is awesome about Megaman 1. You feel like a god when you master the controls and memorize the levels.

  • My favourite stage is Wood Man ad my least favourite is Crash Man (God Damn chickens with their eggs)

  • why was there a random clip of metroid at 1:38?

  • dude you give awsome reviews!!!!......did you ever review the mega man x games??....because i really!!! want to see them!!

  • NOT TO BRAG i beat heatman in like 3 tries but quickman GRRRR His stage was a dk

  • Fuck emulators!

  • @ParanoidMilitantNyc

I didn't use one. When you render the video, it removes the sprite flicker. So sometimes characters disappear when hit, or look like they are being split in half.

  • @ParanoidMilitantNyc emulators are even better than the console

  • @ParanoidMilitantNyc fuck you

  • can you not do the slide on the ground thing in megaman 2? because that would make the quick level easier

  • actually the mega man theme was at the end of mega man 1

  • Heat mans stage isn't hard, you just have to use the item-2(i think) the rocket anyways, it's much easier!!!!

  • Another thing is that Mega Man 2 is the easiest Mega man game ever!!!!

  • you can use item number 2 to get past the blocks in heat man stage

  • Everyone pretty much seems to ignore the first game and treat Mega Man 2 as Mega Man 1. The first one was acceptably trial and error which was admittably not ironed-out, but decent. But there are some likable aspects, Electric Beam is MM1's Metal Blades and 3 directional, the soundtrack is epic even to this day, and it uses the Mega Man 2 intro and the end.

  • I believe that by the time I ever beat Mega Man 1 it will be already 200X.

  • Comment removed

  • At the parts with the laser beams I used the freeze ability. But it don't last long but it does make it a little more easier. And for the heat level I used the special ability 2 to help me get across those blocks. Good review!

  • Well, this here is a good review but come on man, give MM1 a break! The point system doesn't affect the game AT all, I wonder why you complained about it?

    But still great review!

  • i love quik mans stage yea the blocks r kind of annohying but i still like em not as bad as number 1 ice man stage

quikmans level i love that part

  • hey kwing i know you hate mm1 but have you at least beaten it?

  • @foolintherain100

The very 1st Mega Man is one of the only Nes games I can't beat. The toughest games in History like Metal Storm,Ninja Gaiden,Battletoads,Section Z,Simon's Quest,Chakkan,Contra 3 etc for ME where walks in the park compared to my HATE for Mega Man 1. I just can't beat it. I can't get past Cutmans stage, with out playing it on an emulator.

  • @kNIGHTWING01

what is the name of that awesome music please answer ;D

  • @kNIGHTWING01

Cutman stage? It's not so hard, really...Anyway me too has not beat MM1 without an emulator. I play it on nes when I was really young and I can't defeat the yellow devil, 1st boss in Wily's Castle.

    p.s. I like your reviews ;)

  • @kNIGHTWING01 Bomb man sucks, try him first!

  • @foolintherain100 i beat every mega man game and megaman x games ninja gaidens simons quest and many more without cheating

  • @Kwing Just wondering, but how bad could Megaman 1 be? It was the first game in the series!

  • @BigBossMan538

It was the 1st, but there is a reason its Gameplay mechanics aren't the same. Developers stuck to MM2 for Blue prints of MM9 and MM10 for a reason. Capcom has never looked back on Rock's 1st game. Its also one of the hardest Nes game ever made and is one game I still I can't beat. MM1 makes Contra and Ghost N Goblins look like push overs.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 MM1 used the same mechanics as MM2, just a few differences. I do agree with the difficulty a little... it's not that hard to me... but I have to be honest, it's extremely cheap how you get killed by landing on spikes even after you get hit.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 Have you ever beat Ghosts 'n Goblins?

That game is so addicting but i still havent seen past the 2nd level...

  • @kNIGHTWING01 my brother, Chris has beaten mm1 without using an emulator or cheats

  • I had this game when it first came out as a kid. I didn't have a problem with Heat man stage nor the lazer part. Yeah it was frustrating but it wasn't that hard for me. I loved it. But then again, back then pretty much all the games were really hard. I mean look at Super Mario Bros. 1, remember the staircase at the end of World 8? You had to jump PERFECTLY to get to the top on those tiny blocks. Castlevania 1 was HARD AS HELL too. Guess that's why I love Demon's Souls now. :P

  • best megaman games are 2 and 3. My favorite is 3 because its the first one i played but 2 has a better soundtrack. I didnt really play them in a good order though. I played them like this: 3,2,4,1,5,6,7 and the rest were in order. Great review, Megaman forever

  • It took me FOREVER to beat Heatman and Quickman.

  • I bought this game today and got all 8 bosses in 1,5 hours. It's kind of disappointing because most megaman games have great difficulty

  • aaahhh i remeber me and my friends writing codes all over his garage to play this brings back memories

  • could you change the title of the vid to Mega Man 2 because Mega Man II is the Game Boy version.

  • Just use item 2 for the heatman stage, and use Flash man to stop the laser beams on the harder parts :-p

  • I can't believe he gave this game such a high rating. I mean this isn't an awful game, but it's pretty bad. if I were reviewing this game I'd give it a 4 or 5 at most. I don't care if you fanboys like this game, but I really hate it.

  • @TheGameQube

Do you suck at retro games like this though? I don't judge games by if i can't beat them or not. MM2 is one of the best in the series and was a huge success back when the game released. Im not a Mega Man fan boy, unlike most reviewers I research a lot and know what I am talking about. There is no guessing involved. If this review was done today, I would re write the script and fix some errors in it. But other then that it came out ok.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 sorry, if I don't like a game I guess I should just keep it to myself.

  • @TheGameQube

Your allowed to not like games. But have a reason for it. Ive been gaming a long time and can tell you why or why I don't like games. Ive lived through it experienced it then and now. Its hard for someone to look at a retro game, today with out seeing it before hand. That's why most retro reviewers suck, I am like a door way to the past. I present the facts and let you decide on if you want to try the game or not. You are free to not like something just don't insult ppl doing it.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 jesus christ knightwing its cause its too hard for him =P

  • what I loved quick mans stage! I though it was so much fun

  • Quick Man's stage is hard?

He's usually who I go for first.

  • did you know you beat metal man in one hit with the blades

  • dude, quickmans level, the laser beams, ive never seen anyone worse, were you trying to show people that they kill you? ive played this since i was a young YOUNG child and was never once killed by them. go with your momentum and direction your goin in. or if worst comes to worst, use a very beatable flashmans power to freeze time, sheesh

  • Comment removed

  • I hate wily stage 4 with a passion because of the boss!!!

  • quick mans stage is easier if u use flashmans time freeze power

  • Quick mans stage is the best stage.

  • It's all about the tricks. with the advent of the internet, there's nothing wrong with a game that has parts like Quickman's lasers. before it was Nintendo Power and word of mouth. Megaman's a puzzle game in a very unique way. Thanks for the vid; it was entertaining.

  • The heat power is useless...

  • the mega buster has its uses. especially against airman and flashman. and quickman's beams can get passed once you get a pattern down. its annoying but doable. and the only reason those beams didnt come back in the anniversary collection was because you were playing on the easiest difficulty. they're still there in normal

  • 0:07

    FAIL

  • this is my 3rd fav. 5 is my favorite and 3 is 2nd 6 is 4th cuz of yamotoman.

  • Here's a tip for this game: Use the metal man weapon all the time. It's much better than the normal gun and you basically have unlimited ammo. Also, use the rush jet to beat the blocks in Heatman. It's really quite easy.

  • does the VC version of the game have a password system?? and what game is better. megaman 2 or 3??

  • great review. this is my favorite of the series, but oddly enough not one that i owned when it first was released, so my love for the game came much later, after i had played and owned 3 and 4. this game is just smooth and has the correct level of difficulty. 3 and 4 seemed to go on forever, whereas this game was the perfect length.

  • Dude, alter your score. You even said in your reviews for Mega Man 9 and 10 that Mega Man 2 was the best in the series, but your score for Mega Man 9 and 10 were both higher than this....... this should have like a 9 or 10.

  • @GradGamer

Yeah this review was done a long time ago.....a wicked long time ago. I was still learning the ropes. MM2 is being re done for my Season One DVD set....although when that happens I don't know..

  • I happen to own a 6 of the megaman NES games.

  • Use the power up, to stop time in quickmans stage :)

  • @Dsstege also its kindof a glitch but if you manage to jump at the right time, you can walk through some lasers

  • the game's too hard but it is my favorite megaman game

  • the blocks in Heatman's stage aren't bad once you get the timing right, i could actually speedrun through it without having to use item 2, it was a pain to get used to at first i'll admit but once you got it it's easy, Quickman's lasers are still the biggest problem for me though lol

  • you suck at megaman. i've only played one nes megaman game and that was like 10 years ago. i don't remember which one it was but i know it wasn't megaman 2. the first time i played megaman 2 was on my ipod touch last week and i got past the lava and the lasers with very few problems. eitehr i'm naturally good at megaman or ur garbage. especially since i had that crappy ipod touch controls

  • Quickman's stage was easy once u have the weapon that freezes time

  • 8/10????!!!!!! More like 10/10.

  • I say 10 too. Best mega man ever.

  • What's so bad about Heatman's stage? The blocks are easy to avoid. Just walk all the way over as far as you can and use number 2 to glide across to safety on the lower part of the screen.

The blocks are avoidable in just about every Mega Man game (minus a few small parts) in most games.

  • Someone who would use the Game Genie for Quick Man's stage (Unlimited Weapon) would have to remember, YOU CANNOT SWITCH WEAPONS WHEN USING FLASH STOPPER.

  • um 1988

  • ok heat man stage item 2 or is than not a legit way? quickman stage I watched the gameplay footage and noticed realy noobish mistakes uh -_-

  • 2:03 How do yuo stand the background without having a seizure?

  • @ffristhecoolest That's what I was thinking lol :D

  • @Lardslnc lol WOW.dont think that game is good for your eyes.I think that level will ruin your eyes when you play it too long.Dont you think?

  • @ffristhecoolest That video hurt my eyes for that minute of the bubble man level. Lol I wonder why kWing loves that level so much?

  • I love megaman 2 and 8.

  • (thats megaman 2) Not 11

  • 8/10 are you fucking nuts? This game is fucking legend.

  • I love 2 & 3. They are the only Mega Man games along with the first one that I've played on the VC. I can't wait to play Maga Man X when it arrives on the Virtual Console.

  • mega man x on snes is my fav and 3

  • This game is somewhat similar to sonic the Hedgehog, but not really.

  • from all the 6 megaman games on nes (and i played all of them)i like 2 the most, then 6 and then 3

  • I tend to find megaman 2 to be the best of the games before the buster got the charge function and became useful. I mean seriously, the first megaman games I played had the charge function on the buster. When I went back and tried playing megaman 1 and 2 I was kind of shocked to find out it was a later innovation. =p

  • Mega Man II is the best in the bunch of Mega Man games on the NES.

  • megaman 1 is good.

I don't know why you don't enjoy playing it. I beat it like 5 times and I never get bored.

  • Heat Man's appearing blocks are so easy to memorize. There are only 3 times where you have to jump up on a appearing block.

  • dude for heat man use item 2 on the lava, for quickman use the freezing of flashman (you still have to run like hell)

  • quickman isn't that hard, all you need to do is stick with it

  • @CANAirforce the lazer beams? cos' that's what i was referring to with the freezing..... for the actual guy just use crash man bombs

  • ok i get it now

  • i have anniversary collection and it rocks hey thanks for telling me about those laser of DEATH. and i would agree metal man ROCKS!!!!!

  • most bosses have more than one weakness. especially flash man- he can be raped with the buster, blades and especially the crash bombs.

  • you can easily beat flashman stage with no items,it's fucking easy

  • @za909 I know

  • Since he didn't say in this video here is the best order (according to me at least) in which to fight the robot masters.

    Air Man

    Metal Man

    Bubble Man

    Heat Man

    Wood Man

    Crash Man

    Flash Man

    Quick Man

  • Actually, you fight metal man first, becuase woodman is weak against metal blades, then you fight woodman, becuase airman is weak against leaves, then you fight crashman, becuase crashman is weak against air, then you fight flashman, who is weak against blades, then you fight bubbleman, who is weak against blades, then you fight quickman, who is weak against crash bombs, then you fight heat man, who is weak against bubble.

  • Actually I do the order like this.

    Metalman-Use Quick Boomerang

    Bubbleman-Use Metal Blades

    Heatman-Use Bubble Lead

    Woodman-Use Atomic Fire

    Airman-Use Leaf Shield

    Crashman-Use Air Shooter

    Flashman-Use Crash Bomb

    Quickman-Use Time Stopper

  • @callmesuspect finally someone gets the boss pattern

  • alot of people have issues with air man without the leaf shiel- i always take out metal man first (that and his pattern is really predictable)

  • Did not like the first megaman whaaaaaaat?

Kwing man we are just two different people?

  • For quickman's stage, just use the power that lets you freeze time. It makes it soooooo easy

  • MM2 was the best game in the whole series followed by MM3. The music in the game is probably some of the best that has ever been made in videogames period.

  • it's kind of obvious that some of the posters here didn't watch the entire review...

  • 3:33

    Protip: use item 2.

  • Protip: watch whole video

  • Mega Buster is NOT useless. I solely beat this game with it.

  • I second that.

  • I even beat most of the bosses with mega buster

  • 9.5/10

I never understood why people hate Quickman's stage. To me that lazer part was sooooooooooooo easy! I beat it the first try. I always hear people complaining about that part. I don't understand. You just don't hesitate at all. Like in this video Kwing a couple times I saw you hesitate. You always run and dont stop!

  • Quickman stage is easily beat by Flashman pause.

Real men use the mega buster.

  • haha nice tip and comment

  • the p shooter is far from useless.

  • Yeah nevermind I just got MM1, 2, 3, and 9 on the Wii VC and WiiWare! :D

  • i dont like 1 and 3 is a bitch if your not pro at mega man 2 or a differnet one i guess

  • metalmegaman is the bes!

  • Does anybody here own Megaman: The Wily Wars for the Genesis? If so, would you recommend it? I have a Sega Genesis, that cartridge has the first THREE Megaman games, and I don't feel like buying another NES. (My old one got lost somehow. D: )

  • it is decent enough and the graphics are mush better (being 16bit and all) but it does not have the charm of the classic blue bomber! hope this helps...

  • Just buy all 3 on the VC

  • use the item 2 on the disappearing blocks part on heatman stage, derp.

  • u know whats funny i love the water lvls in megaman but i hate them in mario XD

  • i have an excuse for not playing mega man games of old i was not born

  • u could always buy megaman anniversary collection 4 Gc ps2 or xbox

  • Or you can buy them on the wii.

  • in my opinion this game is WAY too easy but the best in the series.

2nd favorite is 5 and 3rd favorite is Mega Man 8.

flame me all ya want but i dont care

  • Maybe the difficulty was toned way down after complaints of MM1? I mean for the love of god, how many hits did those jumping bots at the end of some of the levels take, seriously? But still, one hit kills all did make this game too easy.

  • i thought that MM1 was also easy except for the wily castle.

  • You should review mega man 9 its awesome

  • he did

  • good review

  • Love this game.

  • Why the hate on the invisable blocks? Theres only three parts where it does the sneaky jump before I put a block above your head move :3

And the lazers are easy :3

  • XDXDXD i spend 15 seconds on the blocks in heatmans stage i use item number 2 and done i skip it

  • i wrote this when i was still watching the vid when you said it
