I'm definitely with the 95hayazi on this one -- there's no way an 11 year old could play (recognizably, that is) this piece after playing for a year. I've been a violinist nearly 20 years and even though I've never attempted this piece I think it could take at least a few months at MY skill level to even squeeze out the notes, let alone with good tone.
That said, this kid is good -- but not a genius. I believe he can do better, and probably already has!
yeah like ive been playing 11 years and im teaching myself this piece. Im guessing to finish it will take about 6-8 months, although some parts may not be polished quite to the level of this excellent performance
If your teacher didn't give you an extremely arranged version, then you picked out an extremely arranged version yourself. There is absolutely no way that a person studying the violin for only a year can play the original version of Paganini's 24th caprice. As a matter of fact, the only piece that ANY first year could easily perform by the violin virtuoso Paganini is the Theme from Witches' Dance, in Suzuki Volume 2. So I'm going to have to say that I don't believe you.
I don't know what definition of bullying you've been reading, but I can assure you that's not what I was doing. I made a simple joke and she came back with a bad attitude. So then I made the conversation serious. I didn't cuss at her, I didn't call her names, and there was no kind of harrassment, I just explained to her what the joke meant. I will not let her use her age as an excuse to act rude and negative towards people just because we didn't believe her. Nobody will defend her
Because she's not telling the truth. There is no way a person who's only been studying for a year can play this version. I know many violinists who have been playing for 4-5 years and are still trying to shift.
I know what I'm talking about and if it came out rude, then she shouldn't have been rude first. I'm not going to treat her like a small child.
@skibbaaa well , my teacher wasnt teaching me. i priinted off myself and tought myself. im not a liar, im not fake. and no, it can take less than 5 years. plus im not even through wiith it. i have 2 more pages to go. and why do you go cussing at me. you have no riight to. any mature adult would have the manners to be true to an 11 YEAR OLD. so leave me alone.
Haha, I could see how that would be confusing. You put down the finger that you need on the fingerboard, let's say your index finger, and then use another finger on your left hand, lets say your ring finger, to pluck the pitch of the index finger that's already down. It's just like using your right hand for pizzicato, only it's a finger you're not using on the left. Do you get it? That might have been confusing.
@jcomposer12 Listen to it carefully about 5 times, then the whole thing should be in your ear. basically about 1/4 of all notes came from the bow(just try to concentrate on the bow and every time you see it hitting the strings say "bam").
try to replay it by ear slowly only with the bow, then only with the fingers if you know the techniques.
Since you have this section now clearly in your ear, you should then be able to "subtract" the "bams" from the entirety.
@jcomposer12 after he plays a note with the bow (which is held with the right hand), he lets go of the string that he is pressing down on (with his left hand fingers) in a way that plucks the string just enough to make a sound. hard to explain lol
@TheAutymn they dont teach this first year, you're a fucking liar and fake...this piece is beyond first year it takes 5 years min to be able to play it
wow. my brain simply imploded and then exploded over and over again. what an interpretation, beautifully played. talk about using the full range of the violin. wonderful

He's a terrific player, certainly one of the best recordings around. That said, I'm still not sure if he (or anybody, for that matter) can compare to Heifetz's recording. Nobody has the technical skill heifetz did.

I'm glad he plays the artifical harmonics. Many people avoid them.

They aren't written in the score. That's why. Duh.

Would have been nice to hear without the piano, it is distracting and irritating. Violin sounds great from what I can hear.
