NEVER, NEVER, NEVER connect anything other than speakers to your amp. That is the WORST thing you could possibly do. An amp expects a specific resistive load. When you lights on the amp, you change the impedance!!!!
I connected speakers to LEDs too, but in a drum enclosure. When you play the drum, the speaker vibrates and generates electricity to light the LEDs! Check out my videos of my kinetic light drums!

leds would work better on a 6x4 speaker. the christmas light is perfect for the sub.
