  • @FunkManSoulG Its casey benjamin and its a vocoder

  • WOOOOO!!!!

  • RIP DILLA !!

  • This is such amazing music....its like the Roots on acid. The fender rhodes sound is so beautiful. The time signature is interesting, I think its in 4/4 but in measures of 3 instead of the usual 4. I can't really place the actual time signature.

  • @djphatd yep yep 4/4 time but measures of 3, ahmad jamals original was 3/4 maybe can't remember

  • please stop calling it a keytar but thats next generation equipment there.its a roland ax synth.

  • amazing remix.....do you believe in spiritual ?

Some funky shit ya'll guys doin' MAAAAAAAAN!

    From Holland!

  • Hip hops true roots are from so many other great genres, anyhow, I dont get how any 1 could not appreccaitte this, it is their loss on a real. illage

  • Preach!

  • yeah it's a vocoder.

saw this live at the cape town international jazz festival. was surrounded by a bunch of hip hop heads who think music begins and end with hip hop!

needless to say, they were disappointed.

pity, 'cos, even though they were there, their stunted intellectual capacity prevented them from enjoying a beautiful musical moment.

aahh well, we live and learn...hopefully.

  • its calle a key-tar

  • whats the name of that type of guitar-like keyboard??...because i want that now..haha...

and is he doin vocoder modes through it?!..sick

  • it's a key-tar

  • Great Music,

The riff is taken from De La Soul's Stakes is high, which is taken from Ahmad Jamal's Swahililand, from the album jamal plays jamal in 1974

  • thanks man!!! i love music history!

  • Thank-you livemusichead for posting your videos. It has helped me to discover more amazing music to add to my music collection.

  • I appreciate your comment. I love live music. I have a lot more to share so keep watching

  • This SO makes me miss NYC...damn, no place like home, and Casey's intro, Robert's sick chords, and Chris' so dope timekeeping--WHAT??? Mos doing what he does best...and hell, even the sista in the audience adding her beautiful notes at :27...I love the gift of music ;o)

  • Yeah man its been a while since i seen the experiment & i'm straight from PHILLY grinding it for that live music

  • I only got to enjoy Rob's trio at Cargo in London only a month and a half ago, but minus the rest of the cast, though C-Dave was steadily handlin the rhythm...hell, I'll link it here ;o)

  • @sudarabajan22 I love the gift of music too and Ive always loved this tune, but i think there shud be some credit given to the great jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal. Thats his music, his sick chords. No discredit to Dilla, but he jus sampled it

  • @jpiano2158 True, true. Cuz even though Dilla is gone (R.I.P.), Ahmad Jamal is very much alive, and he's the composer. There would be no Stakes Is High if it weren't for him.

  • @sudarabajan22 yea dont forget derrick hodge dude!

  • damn, this is dope!

  • I want this on my Ipod!

  • This Is Real Live Music

  • dope !

  • Shit, this is amazing.

  • I watch this every morning to get my day started

  • I Thought I Was The Only One Who Did That Chris Dave Is The Truth.

  • Bananas. This has to be on MP3 somewhere, this a crisper version of the joint they have from earlier.
