There's tons of people that can play faster than Randy Rhoads but they get their heads shat on because Randy makes every note count.

@MrNixon79 If it doesn't sound like a tube amp you really have no clue as to what a tube amp sounds like. I've had one of these for 3 years now and it has more tube tone and harmonic content than any other tube amp I've owned. It's pure Marshall Superlead. You also can't use the sound recorded by a video camera to judge an amp.

yep. it's NOT direct in. You won't get that tone whether you play like Doug and use his pickups, etc. Look at the following video and you can see a couple stills from this show. He clearly has a Wah and Noise Reducer or Delay and I'm SURE the Majik Box pedal (but haven't been able to find a still or video, but compared it to other clips and it's spot on)! -
Common known fact: Randy had constantly kept his Wah peddle ON during his rhythm guitar parts. He wanted to cut down the lows. I don't see why but having all midrange and highs is much better sounding than having too much bass. Unlike many players nothing he played sounded muddy.
The actual review seems flawed to me b/c Aldrich is using his gear on randy's amp. It wouldve been better if he plugged straight into the amp and went from there. Just my opinion
Seriously, Randy Rhoads tone wasn't that good. Great guitarist, but overrated. Put him next to Shawn Lane, Glenn Tipton, Paul Gilbert or Yngwie Malmsteen and he would look like nothing.

@MrMnM14 Yeah, sometimes Malmsteen can be a bit boring. He has done some great songs though, Black Star, Far beyond the sun to mention a few. I think besides Hendrix, Blackmore, Iommi, Tipton, Rhoads, EVH etc. he's probably one of the most influential players of all time.
I can honestly tell you that live, this amp is a killer!! The mic on this recording is shit. I have one of these amps and let me tell you...It smokes!!! Too Damn loud.. I needed to get a Hotplate to turn it down and even then it Rocks....

A couple comments...yes, Doug is VERY good and plays all of the solos and is just a WAY better player than Zakk Wylde!
I notice the following:
1:00 - Les Paul (not cutom headstock) - Gold Top with single binding and creme pickguard and Neck pickup has silver pickup cover, but bridge is uncovered and white in color
1:23 - floor - Randy's mom Delores (Dee). Right side in red hair Randy's sister Kathy and left with dark hair and badges is Randy's brother Kelle (Doug). Not sure of the other girl to the left of him and above mom, maybe Randy's girlfriend?
3:10 - guy walks over and turns the Marshall Power Brake sitting on black bottom to the left of far left 1959RR stack Doug is playing thru to the right slightly!
After researching and reviewing Doug and others sites, I'm confident the pickups in this Les Paul ARE Suhr Aldrich pickups. He is playing in the bridge position. AMAZING and I believe better than PAF tone! Actually, I just ordered a set for my Studio Premier Plus! :O It's obvious at the 3:10 mark that it is attenuated. The question I have is...IS HE USING ANY PEDALS AT ALL. (or just the pickups and amp)???

I hate most amp, guitar, and pedal demo videos because all we ever get to hear is crappy pentatonic solos and the occasional power chord. That's fine and dandy, but we've heard that a million times on every other review of any given amp. What does it sound like when you're strumming big, heavily distorted chords? You know, those hard to understand and play things with names like Fsus2 or Cadd9?
Great playing. No wonder Mr. Aldrich was the axeman in Dio and Whitesnake during multiple tours with several pro-shot DVDs featuring his wizard guitar style.
Maybe instead of telling people to "get the hell out of our booth," he could've informed the visitors that were not familiar with Randy Rhoads and the amp..........not a good sales pitch to sell the amp.

Every guitar player has is own vibe and his own guitar solo.. yesterday Doug cames here in Italy and played with bunch of great guitar players (such like as Lynch, Stef Burns, Seymour Duncan and on) and with Glenn Hughes. He started with Blues For Mylene (a piece of song that he wrote for his wife) and then he played something completely new, I don't see the problem. There's a chiché and I think is a cool thing
Those Bends sounds so amazing. when you think he,s done, he bends back up, even higher than he was with a vibrato. The amp souns SO F**** amazing as well !!

I find this to be a much better tone than Randy Rhoads ever achieved. It always sounded to me that Rhoads was using an MXR distortion pedal to get his gain out of the old Marshalls. It sounded a bit cheesy to me.

I disagree, it didn't sound cheesy to me. But you're right, he used an MXR Distortion that he kept on pretty much at all times, except when doing clean passages.
I'll take back "cheesy," but even back in its day, Randy's tone wasn't very appealing to me, because it was the same MXR tone I was stuck with! I wanted the vintage Marshall tone but with more overdrive, and I was pissed that some guys were able to get their Marshalls modified to get that sound. A resentment carried over from my youth.
I know what you mean, it's just plain bad representation of Marshall as a company. From far away it looks like every other white tolex Marshall played in the eighties so he should keep his mouth shut, because like you mentioned, not everyone grew up in the 80's and not everyone is a huge Rhoads fan. But I still love Aldrich, Rhoads, AND Marshall. Oh well LOL
I heard that Delores Rhoads (Randy's Mom) Cried we she saw Aldrich playing because she said the he reminded her alot of Randy, with his long blond hair and LP. I see alot of people complaining about the tone, THATS IT! Thats Randy's Tone all you need is the right affects, what people dont understand is on the tracks. Randy overlayed, multiple layers of him playing to make it sound fuller and fater, Randy's tone was very thin sounding, that amp hits randy's tone on the nose.

God, where do marshall find these tosser salesmen, Doug Aldridge is a fine player and a real nice guy, but he ain't no Randy Rhodes. It bugs me the way Marshall marketing corporate animals masquerade as musicians and try to sell their products like you have to be in some exclusive club to own one and if you don't know who RR was then to "get the hell out of my booth" what an absolute wanker. Anyone with me on this? - there are better amps out there, and cheaper

A couple comments...yes, Doug is VERY good and plays all of the solos and is just a WAY better player than Zakk Wylde!
I notice the following:
1:00 - Les Paul (not cutom headstock) - Gold Top with single binding and creme pickguard and Neck pickup has silver pickup cover, but bridge is uncovered and white in color

1:23 - floor - Randy's mom Delores (Dee). Right side in red hair Randy's sister Kathy and left with dark hair and badges is Randy's brother Kelle (Doug). Not sure of the other girl to the left of him and above mom, maybe Randy's girlfriend?
3:10 - guy walks over and turns the Marshall Power Brake sitting on black bottom to the left of far left 1959RR stack Doug is playing thru to the right slightly!

After researching and reviewing Doug and others sites, I'm confident the pickups in this Les Paul ARE Suhr Aldrich pickups. He is playing in the bridge position. AMAZING and I believe better than PAF tone! Actually, I just ordered a set for my Studio Premier Plus! :O It's obvious at the 3:10 mark that it is attenuated. The question I have is...IS HE USING ANY PEDALS AT ALL. (or just the pickups and amp)???

I hate most amp, guitar, and pedal demo videos because all we ever get to hear is crappy pentatonic solos and the occasional power chord. That's fine and dandy, but we've heard that a million times on every other review of any given amp. What does it sound like when you're strumming big, heavily distorted chords? You know, those hard to understand and play things with names like Fsus2 or Cadd9?

Every guitar player has is own vibe and his own guitar solo.. yesterday Doug cames here in Italy and played with bunch of great guitar players (such like as Lynch, Stef Burns, Seymour Duncan and on) and with Glenn Hughes. He started with Blues For Mylene (a piece of song that he wrote for his wife) and then he played something completely new, I don't see the problem. There's a chiché and I think is a cool thing

I find this to be a much better tone than Randy Rhoads ever achieved. It always sounded to me that Rhoads was using an MXR distortion pedal to get his gain out of the old Marshalls. It sounded a bit cheesy to me.

I disagree, it didn't sound cheesy to me. But you're right, he used an MXR Distortion that he kept on pretty much at all times, except when doing clean passages.

I'll take back "cheesy," but even back in its day, Randy's tone wasn't very appealing to me, because it was the same MXR tone I was stuck with! I wanted the vintage Marshall tone but with more overdrive, and I was pissed that some guys were able to get their Marshalls modified to get that sound. A resentment carried over from my youth.

I know what you mean, it's just plain bad representation of Marshall as a company. From far away it looks like every other white tolex Marshall played in the eighties so he should keep his mouth shut, because like you mentioned, not everyone grew up in the 80's and not everyone is a huge Rhoads fan. But I still love Aldrich, Rhoads, AND Marshall. Oh well LOL

I heard that Delores Rhoads (Randy's Mom) Cried we she saw Aldrich playing because she said the he reminded her alot of Randy, with his long blond hair and LP. I see alot of people complaining about the tone, THATS IT! Thats Randy's Tone all you need is the right affects, what people dont understand is on the tracks. Randy overlayed, multiple layers of him playing to make it sound fuller and fater, Randy's tone was very thin sounding, that amp hits randy's tone on the nose.
