This Game was just made to rip off the GOW Game Franchise and they couldn't think of an original plot so they borrowed a part of Dante's Inferno along with some quotes and some boss fights and made it into a Game. It's absolutely different from the Divine Comedy, they just stole the plot.

I think they wanted the player to think that he did so they would be shocked (cause the whole promise thing with beautrice) and when it shows him stabbing her they get relieved and get a feeling of "fuck yeah!"

The last boss is Treachery or Treason which is Lucifer aka Satan I believe. That is if they are going by Dante's Divine Comedy itself which is what the game is after.
