  • that's pretty.

  • can you hit the ball

  • can my back foot come off the rubber before i throw

  • @EvilPrinceVegeta99 too young to throw spitter cutter and curveball

  • When i first pitch i trow a 82.3mph i was glad

  • flexipitch

  • @EvilPrinceVegeta99 Try to cut back on the pitches thrown first. Start by focusing on the fastball, 2 seam or changeup. Then make sure when you release the ball that your elbow is pointing at the catcher first(this is called guiding with your elbow) This will take stress off your arm and prevent tommy john surgery.

  • @EvilPrinceVegeta99 your doing curve u should do that around 16-18 years old

  • @Activevz Nice joke. How could you have left if you were still there to write the comment?

  • @JMoware14 lol

  • This is exactly why I tore my rotator cuff at 18.

  • @brentpourciau I agree. I tore my tendon in my right arm because I started doing this too early. Kids (People under 18) Should remember not to be pitching like they do in the majors. You're still growing.

  • @IGCBaken lol so true

  • I think this gives good advice for people searching for basic information.

  • aww when i heard he said "im from expert village" or whatever he said i left .

  • LOOK UP PERRINE BASEBALL ADRIEN#24

  • funny

  • this is soooo boring

  • oh ok

  • what bout control???? how to aim i happen to be the pitcher at my school and i noticed u didnt show where the ball hit

  • if you put on the closed captions, its hilarious

  • dude im 12 years old and u r the fucking man i sware to you i used to pitch 64 with a pretty crappy form when i tried this my last game i went up a mile an hour nbd but i kept practicing and practicing and when i forgot to do the right pivot and did it i threw 72 mph o.0

  • @trowe7771 there is no perfect wind-up, you have to personilize it, so it fits your own delivery and mechanics...

  • I will use this technique to teach my 9 year old a pitching style...see you in the big leagues

  • hahaha..

  • You are supposed to keep your arm back, and extend the (whip) bending momentum.

  • Learn how to play baseball from the video response posted to this video!

  • You threw the ball with an inverted v that leads to elbow injuries. I don't recommend teaching beginners how to pitch when you don't have the correct mechanics. Also you landed heal toe! Very bad. You need to land toe heal!

  • @diekokocool he doesnt have an inverted v? and landing heel toe is just fine, alot of major leaguers do it, this guy, lincecum included.

  • @SimpleStuff31 And alot of major leaguers do it wrong! So many pitchers are getting injured right now.

  • good instructor.... you know what you are talking about =)

  • skip ad 0:01

  • doesnt stride near the height of his body and has a weak front side

  • u actually fail man where was the whole karate kid stance and shit

  • this guy knows whats up

  • this guy throws like a girly fag! learn how to pitch you amateur fag!

  • this kid sucks

  • Don't you love those retarded coaches that think their way is the best, :) ....I don't. This guy's correct however.

  • Ive tried to take lessons from pitching coaches and its just not working and thiz guy seems like he knows better

  • he's throws baseballs

  • My son has had the good fortune of having been taught by Coach Mike for the last year and a half. He was a steady pitcher all year, and the only regular pitcher on his team that did not have arm problems.

  • what does stepping up and down just before the throw do and how do you time it right?

  • @StarJekker its supposed to be a load but he doesnt show it and practice practice practice to time it right.

basically when your front foot lands after bringing your leg up you should be in the two "L's" with your arms and straight up and tall with the trunk of your body not forward

  • you goota pick ur leg up.. ur missing a lot of essential parts

  • he's a jedi!!!

  • no load is right as cotton 3100 claims..when he brings his knee up he should try to "feel" some kind of load ..maybe he brings it up more towards his rear shoulder..whatever BUT he needs to create a load that creates lower body torque, just bringing your left knee up and falling towards home isNOt an ELITE move.he needs to show his left ass pocket to the hitter while feeling the load in his rear leg and hip.I also like to keep head in line with the plate during wind up not sidestep..sum good stuf

  • he doesnt even drop his back knee and try to stride at all

  • HI MIKE

  • What's the best pitch to practice w/ my son? He loves practicing, but I don't know much about the sport.

  • @coffeescup the best pitch in baseball is a low fastball with movement...

  • @marshalloo22 fast breaker?

  • @Daytonaman675 like a 2 seamer

  • @coffeescup you need to teach your son how to throw a fastball and a change up for strikes...mastery of these two pitches is essential for a young baseball player and it requires a lot of practice. the changeup needs to be throw with the same arm speed as his fastball for maximum effectiveness..it is very difficult for hitters to see the difference between his fastball (max effort pitch) and changeup (8-10 mph slower than fastball) good luck!

  • good video funny how all these people think drive and jump off the rubber when you throw a baseball. for the people who are making comments about momentum can that garbage. you don't use your legs when your throw to drive off the rubber you have them under your body so when you plant your front foot your body can rotate thus creating power and velo.

  • Comment removed

  • @marshalloo22 No its not the worst advice you have heard its the truth. I played pro ball for a number of years both as a pitcher and catcher so I know whats going on. Does CC or Halladay or Price think about driving off there back leg when they pitch I think not. They plant so they and rotate and not leave there arms behind to get there arm and body working together oh yeah I guess they are all #1 on a playoff team but your right lets drive off our back leg so we can throw like gargabe

  • @marissajill1130 sorry bro..not trying to get in a pissing match on youtube..

  • @marissajill1130 who cares, your breath smells of urine

  • oi wheres is the stupid pic!

  • you start at an angle and take small steps so that your head doesnt move a lot because if your head moves a lot the target (plate) moves a lot

  • nice nice not to bad

  • actually you want to step back, not to the side, steping back creates momentum towards the plate, steping to the side creates momentum towards third base, how does that help? if you step to the side thats just movement that hurts you, it creates no gain, you might as well just pitch from the stretch.

  • @SimpleStuff31 stepping doesnt create any momentum...it just starts the motion so that you can gloot load etc not for momentum...

  • @rmroz91 actually it does, yyou step back and then you come forward, creating momentum, towards the plate, so actually it does.

  • @SimpleStuff31 stepping is just stsrting movement you dont get any momentum from it...

  • @rmroz91 yea you do, when you step back you have to bring yourself forward, creating momentum towards the plate, step to the side and your leg comes from the first base side of the mound to the third base side(assuming youre a righty) creating horizontal momentum.

  • @SimpleStuff31 no the power during the wind up comes from the gloot load(basically your butt) not anything to do with stepping. also you forgot about the balance position where any momentum you get from stepping is gone. lastly if you step back many people, especially younger kids, dont know how to work the momentum and it ends up pulling then away from the plate which is your argument because they have to swing there leg from behind to balance position which is a lot of weight swinging

  • @rmroz91 so when you walk and your legs carry you forward youre saying that your butt's doing it? not quite.

  • @SimpleStuff31 pitching isnt walking...and your missing the point its the gloot load that loads your butt and core muscles which gives you the power. once you bring your leg to a balance position all the momentum is gone...hence the name balance position.

  • hahahaha this is horrible, no pelvic load nor explosion come on dont give this shit to young baseball players you scumb bag

  • ive been taught by my pitching coach to not drop my glove when and to stay level when i throw .

well im lefty soo idk .

  • this sucks

  • Damn dude good job you throw gas!!!

  • good

  • GOOD video, I like the tip on keeping the glove turned in.

  • dude you suck on the captions

  • nice! I've pitched for years and am still learning from beginner videos. I'm talking about taking a very small step instead of a bigger one. Thanks for the vid.

  • my ribs crack when i pitch... and it hurts

  • @JinNey6

    hahaha lol

    .... and it hurts HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    XD

    I love it

  • you cant pitch sheeeeeeeeeeeet dawg

  • this guy is awesome noobs

  • dude thiw=s was super helpful make more videos please

  • this is supposed to be simple? if he really got into it people wouldn't be able to remember it all..

  • that's pretty cursory...

  • all you experts make me laugh......

    where are your videos?

  • uhh a little too simple

  • @willwyne Little too simple? Dude this guy made it way too complicated for one he stepped back, which is really hard to do I think. I step forward.

  • @ConservativeRev you dont need to folow this completly.. most people pitch differently

  • @ConservativeRev Probably cuz ur challenged hahahahaha its not hard to step back...

  • A lot of good stuff on youtube. I just checked out a trailer called The Keys to Learning Movement. I've seen this instructor and he's awesome. He also has a eye-hand coordination demonstration that's unbelievable. DVD is coming out spring 2010. Search The Keys to Learning Movement.

  • "slight angle".."up, down and throw".This guy is absolutely clueless. This is the reason young pitchers regress and never reach full potential.

  • you know, when you are ready to delivery, you´re back is fligth, i mean you have to move you ´re back down because , you´ve been pitching so wrong body.........

  • i know hes right people can have any motion they want

  • u cant teach some one how to make ur delivery that is some thing a person catches on and figures by him self

  • Something I noticed is when you are at first balance point your toe down, relaxe, because a loose muscle is faster then a tight one.

  • exactly, it in the long run helps you stay closed as well

  • You are actually supposed to use the gravity that pulls down on your leg when you lift it. Bad Video.

  • nice vid just you should step back it creates better speed but other than that nice vid

  • it stinks

  • and browiz...ifhes winding up that means there is no runners on base...which means that unless you fall all over your self, chances are your not going to balk...just thought id throw that one in there

  • whatever coach out there that is teaching momentum pitching should be fired...torquing your body to the point of being off balance and teaching guys to throw a baseball like a softball player would pitch her ball is rediculous...do some squats, towel drill, work on reaching through the glove and you should be fine...look up paul reddick baseball hes pretty smart about all this stuff, im 20 and joined the 90 mph club and now pitch in the rotation at college...get an education lol

  • Thanks a million! I am in my 30s, and never played a lot of baseball as a younger person. In 2 minutes, you taught me how to pitch with some accuracy. REally appreciate you sharing this. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.

  • You still are a younger person. :)

  • u shouldnt be stpping to the side because 1 its a bock as odesha said and 2 stepping back creates momentem towards the plate but this vid still helped

  • you can critique this video how you like but everyone who's played ball long enough knows that everyone's windup is different. Not everyone is going to pitch comfortably and as effectively the same way.

  • im 15 years old and i throw 87, but i hope to throw 88 soon, how can i do it

  • its 1 MPH more ****ing be a man, just throw harder

  • please kill yourself

  • yarnilu, nothing to fight about here, we are just discussing what we love to do. someday I'll create my own video to show what I mean instead of simply describing. I pitched a 13 inning complete game playoff win 11 days ago and pitch complete games throughout the year with our good year-round San Diego weather. If your arm hurts, I can only guess that your arm is going too high, or you already have some damage that is irritated by a particular angle. No way to tell without watching you.

  • WRONG youre supposed to step back. It creats momentum. It also reduces injury. also you are completely extending your arm when you break from the glove. You should have the inverted L

  • but u do have a couple things right thnx for the advice man

  • wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong ok my uncle is a retired pro pitcher he pitched for the cubs and twins his name is larry casian for 1 if u step 2 the side now its a bock new rule and if u look at ur front foot wen u follow throu its straight thats going to mess up ur arm but im just trin to help

  • This is not a "Full Wind Up". I get sick of instructional videos that aren't what they say they are.

  • High and outside...

  • I'm a viewer

  • 60,216 viewer

  • 59,000 th viewer

  • sick dude ur the man

  • is there a left handed version of this :/

  • try the one by bud black.

  • thnx

  • nice small motion nothing to extravegant good for control and each pitcher does things diffrently hes is just going over basics right now

  • his final leg movement is to forced! what a noob.

  • lol noob? he played in the bigs genius

  • At least when I throw I don't force the final leg movement, it comes natural, looks natural.

  • when hes says that lefties should start at the left and rightiese the left thats not always the case. u want to watch ur toe drag and place your foot so that you drag line ends up in the middle of the rubber.

  • it doesnt matter if you step to the side or back as long as you are maintaining your balance throughout your delivery

  • instead of the arm going DOWN, get the arm UP for greatly improved control and arm health. i've done both and can testify to the huge differences. harvey haddix taught: get the arm out and up when separating from the mitt.

  • nice work except for one important point: you say up with the knee and down with the arm. i'd change it to up with the knee and UP with the arm. when you lower the arm, you necessitate a rather violent move forward toward the plate. when you cock it into the UP position, it's ready to accelerate toward the catcher's mitt in a much smoother path. this greatly improves your control while--more importantly in the big picture--saves your arm a lot of misery.

  • dont wanna efight, but in recent personal experince, i found that when i went up, i could only last 30-40 pitches before pain, and thru recent adjustment, i have easily pitched 100 pitchs in games and had no pain....just my 2 cents

  • An indian jr cricket player will do this too :)

  • This is a good motion for young pitchers to start with. We can quibble about the details, but it's a nice, quiet motion, capable of good power.

  • THANKS!!!!! I struck out 4 people and only allowed 4 runs!!! lol just kidding but i like this ill use it next game i suck at pitching atm... by the way i usualy think to point at home team dugout(3rd baseline dugout) with my foot for the step to the side. THANKS!!!^^

  • your right hand should be higher

  • 1:18 You're supposed to take a step back, not to the side. Or am I mistaking this for cricket.

  • you can do either back or side...side gives you more balance

  • And stepping backwards gives you more velocity. And you can also hold balance going backwards, therefore backwards is better.

  • lol cricket isnt even close to that, there is seperate style for bowling(or pitching) for cricket

  • Thanks now that i pitch on a angle my pitch is more comfortable and i get more strikes TY :)

  • mike,

Randy brown and tony metoyer where are you now? you cna reach us a baseball usa

  • i guess i throw a little above average for my age as far as velocity, but i tend to throw over the top..is that bad?

  • im no expert, but i'd say as long as your mechanics are good and consistent there is no wrong delivery. i know pitching out of your normal arm slot can cause injury

  • ty though bad vid

  • he doesnt even go by his own rule..he said barely shoulder length apart and hes doing about 75% of his body

  • i was at a showcase at UVa and they had us play pick up games and their were guys throwing in the mid 90s it was crazy!

  • I'm a lefty and I pitch fine. It's just the transition hsmgirl. I can't pitch a softball underhand at all. Probably the same thing with you. Very different motions and muscles.

  • thank you very much!!!

  • Hi. I'm a 13 year old girl and I throw lefty. Trying to learn baseball pitching because I'm going to try out for my high school boys baseball team this coming year... trying to learn to pitch so... but it's a little difficult for me to learn because I'm a lefty and most people are righty

  • i just give u a tip

on this site type it " how to pitch fast ball"

there will be an lefty pitcher he shows all breaking balls

  • Dick Mills Pitching Is Way better

  • This guys needs to do his homework. The latest research is now indicating that there is a direct link between arm injuries and the inverted L and the inverted W positions. This is still fairly recent, however if I am producing pitching instruction videos I'd go out of my way to stay on top of this stuff.

  • wasn't bad. it doesn't matter what side of the rubber you start on though. it's all how you throw. my ball tails in so i start on the left side and i'm right handed. but he looks like he's finishing off to his right a lil bit and throwing kinda on the side of his body. good if you're still learning how to pitch.

  • cool i'll practice that

  • ballin you are right, but can you say it better?

  • thats shit thats not the propper way where the hell did you learn to throw

  • id lik 2 c u throw. Hesshowing the basics dumbass

  • your stupid

  • Thanks, video was helpful!
