Nice! I thought about doing this to make artificial rivets on two steam locomotives I'm building, punching from the back side of the brass sheet in nice straight lines at the same time I cut the parts out. If needed, I was going to drill clearance divots in the fixture plate first. Great to see someone else using an automatic punch in the machine spindle, thanks for sharing it.
Good idea, but it may be better to use a center drill followed by a longer drill / peck drilling cycle for holes. The idea could be expanded to place many indentations on a surface or to mark a line for thin parts. Have you tried it with acetal?
