Thing about it this way: The USA was drafting plans to move Christians out of Lebanon, the Europeans stopped caring about Lebanon when we lost our money, the Arabs were supporting the PLO in their genocide against Christians, and then Syria was to the East looking for the perfect opportunity to retake Lebanon.

Sheikh Bachir and the Christians had NO ONE else to turn to.

He met with Sharon but he never worked for him. Bachir fought alongside the Israelis, but they were never in full alliance and Bachir was against the Israelis too. In ALL his speeches, he never mentioned just the withdrawal of Syrian and PLO forces, but the Israelis too.

Israel was the last option and the PLO left the Lebanese Christians no other choice.

But just remember - no one else fought under the phrase Loubnan Awalan but Bachir and the LF. Everyone else owed allegiance to foreigners.

Few people believe Israel killed him, but the truth is (I have some SSNPers in my family) Israel and Syria themselves had nothing to do with the assassination. It was the SSNP, Habib Shartouni was the one who placed the bomb, and the man who planned out the assassination was Nabil Alam. You can blame Syria for giving them cover but thats about it.

Israel got pissed at Bachir towards the end of his life, but they hadn't plotted to kill him. They had faith he'd bring peace after reuniting Libnan.
