this scene was actually an accident. belushi was supposed to walk down the stairs and say a funny line but he forgot it witch is why he rolled his eyes. so out of mere stupidity he resorted to smashing the guitar and apologized. the guitar and sorry line wasn't acting it was real. directors thought it was funnier so they kept it.

I like this little scene almost as much as one of the scenes from one of those 80's high school seniors trying to get laid over summer vacation movies.

There's this guy playing guitar on a beach and some girl starts "servicing" him. As he gets more and more excited he starts playing faster and faster and faster until he reaches the "TOP".

At that point he's playing so fast that he breaks all of the strings in one deft downstroke.

Although his career was cut short, his characters of Bluto and Jake Blues remain among the most iconic ever.
