Contact happens all the time and not each touch is a foul.
The portuguese defender was falling when he tapped the french striker, meaning there was not enough force to take him down.
And of course there is the obvious delay from when the france striker got tapped and then throwing his arms in the air and diving to the ground.

There was no need for Zidane to lose his cool like that, yes i know Matterazzi said some pretty aggravating comments BUT it would've have been best for him to keep it to himself and worry about it at the end of the match. I'm from italy but if Zidane hadn't lost his cool, Italy would have had a much tougher match.
