I've been shocked numerous times, and it's not any big deal. It just stings a little and gets your attention. I got shocked by them when I was 6 years old and it didn't hurt me that much. It's done to get the animal out of the cage as quickly as possible if they seem lethargic. Why? Shocking this horse isn't abbuse. Horses have very tough skin and if you'd ever actually been anywhere near a real horse then you would know that. You are grabbing at straws trying to make a deal out of nothing. Have you ever been bitten by a horse fly? if so, you notice how bad it hurts? It hurts so bad because the fly HAS to have a large, thick, tough mouth to get through the fur and tough hind of a livestock animal. Freaking idiots!

Every horse/animal that is taken out from their natural element and being forced to do things for our entertainment is abuse, since it statisticly and obviously brings harm (broken legs for example) to the animal and many times lead to an early death.

I grew up ranching in Wyo. Rode Bare back Broncs for the better part of 10 years. I have never seen a horse abused in any way, shape or form. Wish my horses had it as good as Rodeo stock. It's easy to sit in the Stands and think you know what you're talking about but I suggest you spend a month behind the Chutes and work with a Stock Provider. I've watched the Dodge City Rodeo over 20 years and have never seen any animals injured much less killed. There seems to be far more casualties in horse racing. Cattle are tougher than you think and being roped may seem cruel by your frame of referrence but is no difference than rough housing with your dog. It's all in their nature. Hey, i got a question for ya!!! I Barrel race my horses! Is that abuse too? Hey, my horses are on a selective dietary feed. They get worked 4- 5 days a week, they have turn outs so they can pick if they want to be out side or in, each get worked on by a chiropractor. Is all this abuse too? These animals work for us, they are our pets, we love eachother dearly, i seen many things at rodeos that i dont agree with but the things you pick apart about rodeo is ratical overright ignorant statements.
