  • What I need to know, is does it play videos in 1080p with compiz fusion on, desktop effects enabled? I've run linux for 8 years now, and I want to finally have smooth HD video playback. :/

  • @tcadroas yes it does, the vid I ply in the post is a 1080p bluray m2ts file.

  • @nzig thanks, I'm running ubuntu right now and 1080p videos play fine, as long as they're the right format. :)

  • @tcadroas i can run smooth 1080p HD with my dualcore so im pretty sure the i7 will rape it :P

  • I'd really like to see more of the compiz effects to see how the i7 and your video card works!you should make another video!

  • Nice box, but I was born in the 90's so I love Athlons.

    8-)

  • Hell yeah now thats a real computer user....Even though Ubuntu requires some extra time to get all of your things setup...the result is amazing. Nice rig.

  • Nice Rig!

  • Yeah it wasn't cheap but I saved my ass off to get it. Big upgrade from my previous box.

  • Eventually i'll get a PII 955, 785g mobo and 4890 down the road. Hopefully in a few months the PII x6's will be out and i'll just get one of those =)

  • Boot into safe mode, hit ESC and enter the Grub boot list and select the safe mode kernel. It'll go to a blue list of recovery options. Select "xfix" at the bottom of the list and it will repair your xorg.conf and then you should be able to boot and Log in normally.
