  • I would like to know how much larger the valves were and whether he sunk them or not. Also what angles he used.

  • I loved this video! This is the exact same stuff we're learning in school. Down to the VGS-20 The video is quick and doesn't show all the steps in detail but you get the idea of what he's doing. First he reamed the guide and then honed it to its final size. Then he checked it with a guide bore gauge. After that he cut his seat angles (two angle seats it looked like?) and lapped his ALREADY GROUND valves to check the valve job's accuracy. Pretty basic stuff if you ask me. :D

  • why would u lap valves cut seat grind valve its way batter

  • a stromberg head i am guessing this is going into a lotus elan or europa?

  • @spinlessbastard1 - Your are correct.

  • Look around the 2:07 mark. . . . .down on the blue metal what looks like a little jesus christ !!!

  • @supersevenn Holy shit it does! Pun was partially intended!

  • I wouldnt do somthing like that to a expensive head like that just because.

  • How much does this cost? 24valve car? Thanks.

  • he lists his phone number, try a land line ;) you get to talk to a real person.

  • at my shop we made the hand lapper fit into a drill, then we put a compression spring under the valve in the head to push up on the valve, it works really well, very smooth.

  • @rroberts383 the lazy mans way ,guess why its not done this way by everyone ,dont think you were the first to think of it

  • @rroberts383 remind me to never do business at your "shop"....that's lazy, inaccurate, and just plain terrible.

  • I read about the Arbarth 1600 OT powering to 7500 with redline of 9000. I bet that was a 2 cam like the Lotus 1600. I like the combustion chamber shape; reminds me of a flat 6 porsche aircooled cylinder head.

  • great show sir,

I,m really interested with this kind of work. That makes me have a lot of question. If you don't mind answerring

    1. Why drilling the valve guide ? do drilling are requires for every new valve installation.

    2. Why dont you cut the valve, instead lapping them only. If its titanium valve are you going to lapp them ?

    3. Is that a micro meter you are using ?

thanks, i hope its not bothering you to much.

  • I love this show!
