@rudypyatt As you can see the course is dead flat. The wind forces some shifts, as do pace changes. Typically I'll shift 1x or 2x per lap, so 2-3 gears. Since the speed can vary by 15 mph (under 20 to over 35 mph), I'll use gears from the 53x12 down to a 53x19. In the 2011 clip ("39T") I lost use of the 53 so only had a 39T chainring. I used only two gears - the 11 and 12, equal to 53x15, 53x16.
Okay I made my own camera helmet mount... Do you have to tilt your camera upwards due to the road bike posture? Because that's what I'm having to do..
@GildedAlien yes, that's normal. I have my helmet mount almost at the back of the helmet. Google sprinterdellacasa Expo Pictures and you should get some hits of pictures with me on the bike with helmet cam visible.
@GildedAlien@GildedAlien I use the goggle mount supplied with the camera. A wide velcro strap goes through that (instead of goggle straps) and wraps around a couple vents. I have more info in my blog if you google sprinterdellacasa and contour.
I've been using a Specialized helmet as it's more flat where the camera sits. The Bell Volt I have is a bit rounded in profile in that spot.
@hypnotyzedtube The songs are credited in order at the end of the clip. The first song is by Linus, "Deepest Knife". Hm, that's not the name of the song but it's off of their CD "That Was Good", Track 2. It's the band name though, my brother and a few friends. They've played some gigs in NYC but are otherwise inactive. You'll see Linus songs throughout the 2010 clips I have up, I may have another clip with the same song, correctly credited.
I can't remember if it was this video or another you've posted but at one point you mention the little under-bar aero bars that you say are crit-legal... did you make those or buy them from somewhere?
Which mount do you use for your ContourHD? I'm considering the camera and I've read some reports that the vented helmet mount has problems. I love your videos!
@tsara52 Thought I answered, sorry. I use the goggle mount for the ContourHD, it's included with the camera. I use a wide strap (it's usually a minipump strap) to hold it on the helmet
@SprinterDellaCasa Thank you! Your videos are smooth and vibration free, and I'd like to be able to achieve the same thing. And besides, I'd hate for that cam to depart my helmet, which you know would happen at the worst possible moment! Thank you again, and congrats on the Cat 2!
Man, that looks fun. Curious non-racer question: How many gears are you using per lap on this course?

Could you tell me what camera mount you are using to keep the camera on your helmet? Thanks!

@eriknbrooklyn I bought them when they were new, maybe 15 years ago, but you can sometimes find them on eBay. Cane Creek Speed Bars or Scott Rakes.

Nice as always, Aki. Great commentary on the lines you chose. @tsara52 you'll love this cam.
