These are two of my favourite K1 players. I didn't know they had faced off against each other before. This was an epic last ten minutes of youtube viewing for me, thank-you for uploading this :)
I would say ground fighting is out of the question because if U fight more then one at the time U're in trouble, in the street U'll find yourself against weapons so I'll say Krav maga, aikido, Kempo or any multiple situation defenses.
And if U find yourself in and unarmed fight I also trust Kyokushin, Boxing, Kick Boxing and Muy thai.
But keep in mind the style in not the most important, but the one who practices it...
@skullcrushernz "In the streets best technique is to run no matter who is stronger" one time said Bas Rutten, also I heard it from few good fighters. But if you don't have chance to run use everything that will keep you alive.
I am a kyokushin fighter competed for many years in south America and is all I need. If I am in a soccer stadium or bar fight the last place I want to be is on the floor. Is the fighter that makes the fight not the "style". For me keep it simple!
I totally agree making the most out of any skillset belongs to the practitioner, there are some superior styles for different aspects but it's still the practitioner. Eg. wrestling vs. jiu jitsu (has gone both ways) muay thai vs boxing (has gone both ways as well)
the judging on this was bulshit, all judges scored it 30 - 29 for Fihlo. Should have been 30 -27. Fihlo took first round 10 - 9, Seecond round draw, 3rd round 10 - 8. Stupid judging but remy stil got his ass pounded
Remy Bojansky is not a joke! Kyokushin represented Karate! Got to admit I had bought into Muay Thai being the best form of striking.. this series simply proves Machida in MMA was not a chance thing.
I sure some MMA guys would disagree, but why should there be any emphasis on it? Martial arts are for fighting/hurting people. This isn't even MMA anyways.
Le Banner got owned by a kyokushin fighter Ewerton Teixeira in a K-1 fight.I don't know about the others you mentioned, but I'm pretty sure the score won't change in favor of the non kyokushin fighters.
And Texeira got owned by zimmerman. Le banner is not in his prime no more. He knocked out the best kyokushin fighters like filho an pettas in his best days.
I love to see K-1 guys whining on the comments of these videos... LOL!!! Come on guys, there's the match: 4 fights on your rules, 3 on Kyokushin's and the score was 7-0. Live with that.
kyokushin karate was founded by a korean guy who later changes his name to mas oyama 60 odd years ago after the korean war .He died in 1994,some resembles non karate style ie, not side facing ,high stance, low kicks, high hands.
Aerts, Hoost, Ignashov and Leko have all lost to Filho. Lebanner and ray Sefo have lost to Andy Hug and Sam Greco. Every fighter you mentioned have losses on their records to Kyokushin fighters.
seems like a comercial for kyokushin, a couple of the k1 guys were not that good and didnt look like they threw a punch in thier life other than remy and overeem and were completely outclassed by the kyokushin fighters. looked like they were hand picked.
That was weird. I'm kinda shocked that Filho got that. He looked tired out, loose and kinda punched like an old fat guy who didn't know what he was doing. Remy was tight throughout and threw some great knees. Just took some unlucky punches in the end. Thought he deserved it though. I do Kyokushin but I'm kinda embarrassed that our old world champ won in such a way. *sigh*
You reaise Filho gave an 8 count against Remy? That out-scored Remy's great knees. First round, Filho did some nice punches, second round was about equal. Third round, Remy was kicking ass right until the last 10 seconds or so and he destroyed Remy with about 4 or 5 strong uppers and crosses.
K1 is a style of fight. It comprends Kick boxing, Karate, Kung-fu, Muai thay and some other syles. If you can, yuo should see K1 championship, it's really amazing!!! But Karate kyokushin is better... at least 4 me... (sorry 4 my eglish)
what WLoZoo said was right but he forgot to mention that you're only able to fight in K-1 if you have won championships in you own martial art. So you could say that the champion of k-1 is the champion of champions :P But it's only for stand-up fighting.
Well what I first said wasn't like the full answer either :P You have merits to show you are qualified and good enough to be in K-1 but there have been fighters like bob sapp that have been able to get in, but k-1 is also a spectators sport so it might also have something to do with him being funny and reaaaally big :P

Except of remy they took very bad k1 fighters. They should take aerts, hari, zimmermann, le banner than the score would be different.

Good point, but still.Kyokushin has proven itself. There are some good K-1 fighters I guess you can't win them all.

Yeah you're right. I have nothing against kyokushin. Its a very hard marital art. I'm just saying they took shitty k1 fighters.

@Schurikschmurik 'He knocked out the best kyokushin fighters' and lost to andy hug and sam greco. and Teixeira owned zimmerman second time round.

I agree with saweet999, it seems like a comercial for kyokushin...there were only one good k-1 fighter and it was Remy.
What about PETER AERTS, ERNESTO HOOST, ALEXEY IGNASHOV, JEROME LE BANNER, STEFAN LEKO, RAY SEFO?
