  • Jane. I've added your link to this page on my website. Phenomenal shots. Please let me know if it meets with your approval.

    The Virtual Residency

    Category: Huzzah!

  • Hey man! This video was totally great !

I am the American guy in the top tower that you were filming. Though I am not seen in the video. This is really great with the very iconic Chinese back ground and the crickets being fouled into thinking it is night time.

The video quality is well done and you captured something that is one of a kind.

  • i want to c one so bad in real life

  • wow. truly spectacular.

  • FAKE look at the cloud not moving lol

  • @apatdapat2 How the heck can a SOLAR ECLIPSE NOT BE FAKE?!

  • cool!

  • It's amazing how bright the sun still is, even when it's nearly all covered up. You can see that the light is dimmer, but it certainly still is daylight. Then, at totality, it's not like nighttime because there is still light off in the distance, beyond the edge of the moon's shadow. it's not exactly like a sunset, either.

  • Beautiful shot. It seemed like a really hot day. Was it?

  • its beatiful =) but the end of the world? wtf..idiots if you think so ffs its the moon coming in front of the sun, not end of the world lol..

  • the eclipce is not a sighn that the world is ending. thats only an apocolipce

  • its not a great video we r going to die this moving is only scaring us the eclipse is a sign of a world ENDING

  • ur retarded dont listen to this dude

  • no its not! this is only somehting amazing happening once in a while, not eh world ending!

  • Great video -- too many photographers forget that the experience is also about seeing the whole scene turn from day to night.. especially love the crickets!

  • i think it's annular eclipse .......

because we still could see the ring clearly

  • Nope, this is total -- the ring visible here is the corona. :)

An annular would be much brighter and wouldn't have that sudden transition at 0:37 / 1:35

  • theres supposed to be an annular eclipse tomarrow! buddy me and ill tell you how it went

  • welcome to china in july to see solar eclipse ^^

  • I think that's a poor excuse to go to China, pretty lame. China's a fine country otherwise, not because of the sun eclipse :-) there's nothing special about it.

  • ballball1109: I've already traveled to India to see it tomorrow.

subseeker: If you don't get it, that's okay with me as soon as you let me do what I love.

  • I don't understand, what's so special about these eclipses? Just moon passing tin between he sun and the earth.

  • umm yeh bcuz nature is amazing and th euniverse,

thats like saying what so speecial about the solar system its just planets circling the sun..

  • great job!!!

  • I like the crickets in the background.

  • Finally will get to see (a total) one in 2017

  • OH!! WOW!!!!!

  • My hometown is going to have a partial solar eclipse in 2017, then an almost annular but still partial solar eclipse in 2048 and finally a proper annular solar eclipse in 2057

  • wow i wish i could see that in real life ahhh sooo amazing

  • that was awsome

  • Amazing... Thanks for sharing :)

  • wow!

    tHt's cool!!

ummm,, i think i hear something,,

when it turns dark,, i hear some night animals making sound and when it turns bright, i hear a chicken,,(waking up people)

    hahahaa,,

    soRRy 4 my english!!

  • Very nice images! It shows also very nice the apparition of the planet Mercury (at angle 11 o'clock), immediately after the start of totality.

  • It is not planet Mercury but Venus.

  • This is cool. It actually shows the surrounding and the brightness change.

  • Amazing~

This's my favorite vedio of total solar eclipse 2008.

  • Beautiful composition & great audio. It's amazing to see what basic equipment and a good eye can do.

  • Nice clip. I was on the Wall when it was really quiet a few weeks back, it really did live up to its name. This eclipse is the icing on the cake ..

  • Janne, that was impressive. Did you use a filter?

  • No filters, no nothing. I just put my digital camera (in video mode) onto my bag 40 seconds before totality and picked it up 2 minutes after. Very very simple. :)

  • @jannepyykk0 What camera you have, I tried with my point-and-shoot and failed

  • The sound of the crickets is really fantastic!

  • It fooled the crickets - listen how they start chirping within seconds of totality...and end right afterward. Amazing.

  • wow~that's cool
