how do you know the temperature is set to your hair type? because when your turning on the iron its not on your hair so it heats up at a high temperature then what happens so when you start straightening it adjusts the temperature to your hair type?

GHD is the besssst. I have really thick, coarse hair - it's asian but CURLY - & the GHD leaves it smooth & straight the whole day w. a little serum. Amazing & definitely worth the hefty price.

@marzil It gets extremely hot ! there's actually a setting inside of the ghd that makes it adjust to the amount of heat you need to get your hair straight without damaging it ! i used to use a clothes iron on my hair and the ghd gets it straighter faster without the damage ! i definitely recommend getting one ! its completely worth the money !

I got the limited ed precious gift set for xmas and it has changed my life, like its wonderfull!!!!! I like the way it turns off as well, with my old straightner I left it on when I went to school and my parents where at work and I burnt a whole in the bathroom bench!!!

And I absolutely love it!!

I've noticed that in the morning w/ my old straightener

that my hair would get wavy once I'm in the cold.

However I could run in the cold and fog and nothing would

have you ever heard of 'she' straighteners, the GHD company was run by a husband and wife team but they split and she started a new company with straighteners that are about half the price of GHD's I don't know how they work though. Since it knows what temperature your hair needs, does it remember it forever?

Because my mum and I share a straightener, we have a Chi now. :)

But, if I use it and she uses it will it (I don't know how to say it) but like, will it remember my hair and then not work for hers, we have like opposite hair types.

I don't know about this. I bought a chi a few years ago, and you can definitely see the age on it. Straighteners do wear out, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to spend as much on a hair straightener as I would on a handbag.

They have really good coustmer services as well. Mine broke (and fused the whole house - hahaa) and we sent them back even though they were outside the warrenty and they send me a brand new hot pink pair!

If you wouldn't press your finger on it, why would you put your hair through that?

Heat damages hair. Whether blow drying or ironing.

At least:

Use silicone serum to coat and protect the hair. (No alcohol products + silicone = plastic)

Always use it on the lowest setting.

Don't use it on a daily basis.

Don't use it on wet hair. Towel dry your hair.

Most importantly do not use an oil with a hair straightner. Thats like literally deep-frying your hair.

Haha, good point. I would not press my finger on it, due to the 2nd and 3rd degree burns I would recieve on my fingers. However, I think that if I am safe with my hair, it's okay. I like my hair much more when I straighten it.

I absolutely dispised the Wen system.. I could rinse and rinse and my hair still felt like there was product in it. Glad it worked for you though. I;ve been on the market for a new straightner... When my cousin wanted a GHD a few months back, she made a list of everything why. The one that that sold her dad was: After 3 mins it turns off automatically.

Im sorry, but you already have pretty straight hair. The GHD is made for people with extremely course hair, it's has thicker plates to flatten thick, course hair. Oh and the GHD IS the best flat iron out there, no doubt
