I love this movie, one of my favourites! The script, music and all the characters are amazing, particularly Penny Lane......she reminds me I shouldn't take life too seriously and should be care free again! lol. I would loved to have lived in the 70's where music was so much more 'real' and life was much more simple :o)

I was listening to Tiny Dancer posted by another YouTuber and automatically thought of Penny Lane dancing in the auditorium. When I went looking for the footage, I came across your Ode to Penny Lane. as a former "band-aid" myself, this movie hit a little too close to home. i cried so much whenever i watch this movie, through the funny and the sad parts too, because i know a lot of how Penny was feeling in this film. from a band-aids point of view, the film was very accurate in displaying what it's like for us girls

@MARTYCLFC , well, i don't like to name drop. but i followed many bands. one of the bands, i saw around 30 times in concert. over the course of following them, i eventually became close friends with them & was put on the guest list, got VIP passes, travelled with them, etc. (so most of those shows i didn't pay for) another band i was close to, i dated the singer & traveled with him & his band too. and there were many others. i've thought about writing a book about my band aid days, but anon.

The Penny Lane character in the movie is based on the real Pennie Lane. Almost Famous is based on the true story of the adventures of Cameron Crowe and Pennie Lane. There was some artistic license of course, and some of the things in the movie did not happen, but other incidents in the movie did take place.

I think this is one of the best compilation of a movie i've seen put together...but I am completely 'gone' when it comes to this movie music and all....- even years later it still blows me away! The characters, scenes and the emotional content is a 'moment' blended together like no other!

This was filmed where I grew up in Ocean Beach (see houses in opening scene!) and Penny Lane now lives in the Portland, Oregon area...

How cool is that. AND my friends in March 4th Marching Band have played at her place as she now works promoting bands.

.....Know what you mean about the opening scenes!! "The Strand" . Used to go there for The Rocky Horror Picture Show at he midnight movies ... And .. 'The Black', across the street (IIRC) ..... Grew up in IB, myself (more or less) but all the beaches down that way, were my home .... And Moms Saloon in PB and The Penant off theboardwalk in MB ... Ah those were the days ...... LOL
