2. Those that don't do drugs won't have their minds changed. There's a misconception that if something is legalized, people will do it, that's plain wrong. If they legalized Meth tomorrow, no one who had no desire to do it before would have their minds changed because of legality.

In fact, legalizing weed actually benefits the government and hurts (financially) those that DO smoke weed. When something's taxed, it costs more.

Cannabis is quite benign, but not because 'it's a plant', but because we have almost no cannabanoid receptors on our lungs and the parts of the brain critical for keeping you alive, unlike other drugs which is why they can so much more easily be overdosed on.

The CB1 receptor is expressed mainly in the brain (central nervous system), but also in the liver, kidneys AND lungs. The CB2 receptor is mainly expressed in the immune system and in hematopoietic cells.

It is found that our body actually creates our own THC for these receptors called "Anandamide" (AEA).

My point is simply that many people use a variety of drugs to cope with depression, pain, emotional and physical torment etc. The drug marijuana actually has no physical or other addictive properties. So blaming marijuana for excessive use is backwards. People just want to feel good and sometimes the only way to get relief is to use dugs and alcohol. That just shows our medical profession is inadequately trained. Peace.

@SuperNewf1 Actually it's different for everyone. I know a lot of people who are dependent on marijuana. It is psychologicaly addictive, yes. We know it's the most natural and less harmful drug ever to use. That doesn't mean that we should use it. Hence the fact that it does destroy memory and harms your lungs(not as much as cigarettes, but think commen sense you are inhaling smoke duh) It has affected me negatively. Not to mention it dehydrates the shit out of you. Still has bad effects alright

@lovextina No argument :-) I respect your right not to use it if it makes you feel uncomfortable in any way. Just as you should respect the fact that some people need it for medical purposes. Marijuana does not kill brain cells by the way. It actually helps to repair damaged neurons. It also helps with relieving very painful muscle spasms caused by neurological disorders. It also cures cancer. So as I respect your right not to use it, respect mine to use it. Short term memory loss is temporary.

@SuperNewf1 Short-term memory loss is still there if you keep using it. Once I quit, it did come back but only after a month without smoking up. Based on the research I've done, it does kill brain cells, how could it not? It doesn't cure cancer, it helps relieve the sympstoms of nausa from the radiation and chemo. This drug is both beneficial and harmful in some ways. Even if it's precribed, you still have to smoke it. Vaporizing still does harm and THC can't be good for you.

@jeezuschryst I have done a loty of research, and being a stoner myself, yes it does dehydrate you. Your mouth gets dry, you have to piss a lot...just stop with the arguments. Obviously for me, it hasn't had positive effects. Everyone is different. Like I can't smoke pot and get good grades in school. I have to quit, and when I do, I get my focus and my memory back.

Also, marijuana wouldn't be sold illegally (as much) and America wouldn't be spending money to fight a pointless war against it.
