It does show their bond but to an outsider looking in it makes them look gay. Not that I think they are. Cuz I know they aren't.

Because he was to deeply wounded and the Elves gave him a chance to heal in Valinor, but the notes of Tolkien says that he lived in Tol Eressea until, as a mortal being he died, ops sorry about that, but it's true!
