What i love about the star wars music is that, even though it was composed for a set of movies, the music is very universal(pun not intended). For instance, When listening to this track, I can imagine a vast caravan entering a strange new city, eventually being led up to the gates of some grand temple.
@DoubleDippingDon I imagine a grand caravan of xizors black sun mobile amrde entering a vast city like you mentioned with female dancers twirling and dancing at the right times. hahaha
The thing i loved about this and N64 Game Boxes and previous system games was the artwork on them, as a kid and now i could stare at them nearly all day, Obviously nowa days, it just isn't the same in this way at all. Best childhood game i ever layed eyes on. No Worries, no troubles, just at home from school, sitting in front of the tv and playing this for hours on end, and i still do to this day and always will!
In a strange way, this mosuci scares me o_O I always remember those strange silver and golden droids firing at me and at the end that crappy Gladiator droid's head's flying around and kills me... ZZZZZZZZZAP ZZZZZZZZZAP!
What I didn't understand about this game is who is the guy that appears at the center of the box of the game, the one with blue eyes and that strange look, he never appeared on the game as I recall or did he??
@alejobradley He is in the game but more in the backstory. He is a major part of the plot. He never directly confronts Dash Rendar. Rendar is actually a minor character or side character of Shadows of the Empire. Dash does destroy the Skyhook, but I don't exactly know if Xizor died there.
@ContraCommando Whats funny however (I was pretty shocked myself, after enjoying the story of this game so much as a kid), is that in wookipedia, keyword: "Anakin Skywalker", it says that Vader ordered his men to attack Skyhock, whilst Rendar's name was never mentioned... what a shame. Haven't read through Rendar's page yet though, might be more info there.
@ContraCommando I think Xizor did die in the skyhook, as i recall he fleed into the skyhook when Leia was found by luke as Dash was setting pulse bombs.
@Aspartan3 I am going to assume you did and I was wondering if you can help me find the exact excerpt where Darth Vader tells Xizor that "The emperor isn't here and I am in charge" That was my favorite part of the book and can't seem to find it.
@MASR4 And it is. Joel McNeely is a colleague and good friend of John Williams and even Williams liked McNeely's original compositions as well as cleverly mixing in tracks from the score of the movies into this game.
Lol I used to go to this level, stand still in the beginning, turn up the volume and me and my cousin would pull our jumpers halfway over our heads and pretend to be dancing trolls. Being 7 years old was a lot of fun xD
Time sure flies by. It's been at least 11-12 years since I last played this game properly. Damn...
I seriously used to clip the part at 45 seconds to about 54s and repeat it on my crappy windows recorder. but it still was awesome :P never played the game but looks cool
No no, i'd very dislike it being made as a first person shooter, this game should be left as a classic as it is. I wouldn't mind if they were going to do a remake like they did with perfect dark. Better frame rates. Better graphics and audio. But no a whole different intake towards the game. i mean some of the levels on here can take up to 40 minutes to complete lol. But this is my opinion.
@GeorgeBondOO7 That comment i made was 9months ago, look what has happend to Goldeneye, the game designer has spoken out in outrage to what activision has done to it. Looks nothing like it's original, and Pierce Brsonan has been cutt out :S. It's true to say that everyone who loves the originals have fear in these being remade. For them it's a total cash in.
@flaperise You're right. I'd love to see a remake of Shadows of the Empire,.... but I saw what Nintendo did to Goldeneye007 remake, and now I'm not sure if I would want a remake of any great game from the past, not if they're going to butcher it like they did to 007..... :-/
@Flabernat Flabernat i completely 100% Truelly agree with you. I've said this since the start of hearing about these remakes especially on Goldeneye. They see them has a great money making product but doesn't relate towards the original or the nostalgia of the content. Just the Branded name is all they want. What would be good if they were Rereleased in HD and available on wider platforms maybe. But nothing will beat it's original player the N64.
Actually Williams didn't have anything to do with the SOTE soundtrack for the book or game. Thats one of the many belivible rumors about the soundtrack.
Oh man, I now remember fighting the giant robot guy at the end! I remember that I had been saving up my special ammo and I just dumped most of it into him, since it was three separate parts, the body, head and torso I think...
Ah, the memories of shooting dianogas in the sewers to this music. Good times. SOTE was such a good game and is still fun to play every now and again.
oh....the good ol' memories. I remember just being completely immersed in this game it was just so awsome. Add the fact that I am a star wars fan and I just lost hours in there. If the team that id The Force Unleashed re-did this, imagine the possabilities..
By far the best song in the game. I'd say the sewers are a close second. Anyone know the name of the song in the Train level? This song is featured btw on the soundtrack, but it is sadly only this long.

Shadows of the Empire = the next 3D/CGI animated Star Wars movie that should be made, just don't let George Lucas anywhere near it

This game was so fucking scary! ie: sewers and the palace level. And the Xizor's Palace boss! OMG!!!

The music did the job well. The bounty hunter theme is always dark and morose.
You know a game is GOOD when you feel that emersed in the game that you experience fear.

Loved this song since the first time I played the game back in '97! <3

It's great. Right up there with the "Imperial March". Imagine hearing this and IM in one movie.
