Randomly found the FakeTV. while shopping for random crap on amazon.com. At first I thought it was a dumb idea, but with 130 reviews and mostly 5-star, it was surprisingly well-loved.

Well I just had to come to YouTube and see what it looked like while on. Thanks for sharing. Ignore all the peeps that don't get what this is really intended for and downvote your vid.

Having a fakeTV at home I can safely say that, from the outside, it looks like someone is watching tv. It has a light sensor and only comes on when it gets dark. It also has a time setting of 4 and 7 hours.

The first thing that comes to mind is that it's used to make people think you're home when you're not. sort of like leaving a light on a timer.

You turn it on while you are on vacation so someone thinks you're home. The glow it emits looks like an illuminated television screen. It switches patterns to simulate color changes in the screen (to emulate the ever changing images on a TV screen).

Also, it saves more energy than simply running a TV while you are away. It's more cost effective.
