Yes itt is a Common Glodeneye. Loons usually have one ot two babies. They lay 2 eggs in their nest . This many chicks are found among ducks, not loons
These are not loons, but is a female common goldeneye..........yes, im pretty close to being an expert and know every north american bird known to man!!
At that close(if it was a loon) the loon would've been making the warbling noise that you hear in most videos.. the three pitch sound is their sound when they're just talking to eachother or relaxed.
Definitely not a Loon (head and neck are the first clue). Best guess, without being able to see it in flight and with colour wash (difficult to tell colour of eyes and head) is a Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula, sometimes nicknamed the "Whistler" because of the sound they make in flight). The adult is a female. I'm no expert, though, just did a little research.
look at da'babies. Cute little things.

These are goldeneyes. ...and it is not always the females that take care of the young.. Bald Eagles are an excellent example of that...

But it's still a nicely captured moment. :)

Thanks -- I had a feeling it wasn't actually a loon. I knew the adult had to be a female because the chicks were all gathered around it.
