The provincial veterinarian of Pangasinan said although some backyard piggery farms in the province have been affected with swine flu virus, there is nothing to fear as the virus has not yet mutated to infect humans.

Dr. Benedicto Perez told The STAR yesterday that most of those affected backyard farms were in Lingayen, Binmaley, Labrador, Aguilar and San Manuel.

About 100 heads of pigs had been infected and an estimated 50 percent of them died, Perez said.
